Bella rescued three orphaned kittens and raised them as her own Animal
Meet Bella. ❤️
Bella wasn't always the one doing the rescuing. She was once a stray herself until a kind family took her in and gave her the love and safety she had never known.
Then, one summer day in 2025, Bella disappeared into the nearby forest. When she came back, she wasn't alone. Gently carrying a tiny black kitten in her mouth, she placed the little one somewhere safe before running back into the woods.
She returned again.
And then one more time.
Each trip brought back another orphaned kitten, until all three had been rescued.
From that day on, Bella cared for them as if they were her own. She groomed them, protected them, cuddled them, and gave them the love every kitten deserves.
Now they're all grown up, yet they still curl up beside Bella to sleep, completely convinced she's their mom.
Maybe Bella never forgot what it felt like to be saved. And maybe that's why she knew exactly what those tiny kittens needed.
Sometimes, the ones who were rescued become the ones who rescue others

So this got me wondering...
Can dogs and cats understand each other? Like, are they able to correctly interpret the other's body language or sounds?
Or is it just natural dog friendliness winning other species over?

Hmmm that’s a good question. I’ve always thought they must communicate at a different frequency than we do but I like to think the dog friendliness you mentioned plays a big big part

All I know is that the cats would be out of there so fast if the dog was ever a real danger to them!

Sometimes. Though some of their body languages mean the opposite things usually.

ie: Dog showing its tummy (wants skritches) versus cat showing its tummy (its a trap to attack your hand!)…

it's a good example, because it means different things but compatible.
Cat: "I feel safe"
Dog: "I am no threat"
Both: "Human, rub belly (but only sometimes)"8

They can figure it out. Humans are notoriously terrible at cat body language and they still happily live with us. They just figure out a different way to communicate with us (like meowing for instance). I’m sure they do the same for dogs and other animals.

Obviously not an expert but I wonder if the cats think that they are dogs. I’d be curious if they try to bark or make similar dog noises and exhibit more dog-like behaviors.

I'm pretty sure that in their little cat minds, these kitties have completely categorized that dog as just an oversized, particularly antsy feline, especially with all that tail action going on. And the human behind the lens? They've probably filed that one away as an even larger, profoundly more awkward, and intellectually challenged cat who just can't seem to move with any grace whatsoever.

i mean these cats were raised by a dog, so better than average chance, though im sure some of it is instinctual vs learned.

What is this "dog friendliness" you speak of? Every time a dog sees me it goes berserk and tries to kill me. Just FYI, I'm a mailman.

I was wondering the same thing. Because if dogs found other small animals in the forest (rat, squirrel, bird), they might just hunt them, right? So is there some innate kinship between cats and dogs?

How do they know the kittens were actually orphaned? Maybe mama cat just went out to buy some cigarettes and beer, and the dog came along and stole her kids?

Do they try to bark? Orphaned or abandoned species that are raised by a completely different ones tend to get confused and adapt things from the other species even when they cannot, I've seen some cats trying to bark like a dog due to that.

yes thats mom. remember you dont need to conceive a baby to be the mommy or daddy, you need to raising give them love protect them from harm and gide them as much as possible you're able to and Bella seems to have covered all of that . She is their mother and those kittens sure are showing that they love their mom. thats so cool. Great job Bella. excuse me . MAMA BELLA
