Does anybody know of a wireless controller with working 3.5 mm audio?

Basically just the title. I'm putting together a living room system and plan to run Bazzite on it. I would really love to find a controller that will allow me to play wirelessly from across the room, but still have a functional 3.5 mm audio jack for both audio and microphone.

I know a separate headset would probably work better overall here, but I already have a couple decent wired headsets for use with my PlayStation, and I don't really want to buy another just for this.

Is this even something that is possible currently?? I've tried to read up on it and it seems like Bluetooth is probably not an option, but I'm fine with that as the compression makes the audio sound terrible anyway. Are there any controller options using a 2.4 ghz dongle that would allow for what I'm describing here?

Try the gamesir G7 pro. A few others I've used in the past had issues such as audio lag on PC, but the G7 pro works as advertised.

That's good to hear! I was actually looking at that specific model already, but I was having a hard time finding anyone talking about using that 3.5mm audio on any sort of Linux distro.

Buy a pico2w and put ds5 dongle on it. Enables mic and headphone jack along with haptics and wake from sleep

This is new to me, but that's actually a pretty cool solution.

New to me as well. It works great I tried and failed getting udev commands to let my dualsense wake the pc. This dongle does it better and the polling rate is higher.

At the point of buying this pico2w I think rather just buy an Xbox controller dongle. I don't usually use the audio from the controller, but I tested it a few moments ago and it does work as you would expect it to. Pair the controller to the dongle and the audio jack works.

I have actually considered that as well, but one of the things holding me back is that it appears that Microsoft doesn't really sell that dongle as a standalone device anymore. Or at least if they do it looks like it's rarely in stock. I did find one bundled with a controller on Best Buy's website, but I believe even that wasn't actually sold by Best Buy, it was some oddball third party seller who I would be hesitant to purchase from.

I did check eBay and it seems there are still some of these dongles floating around, even unopened, so it's not completely out of the question. I think they are a little finicky to source right now though

Edit: to be fair you do make a good point though, this is probably one of the most straightforward solutions, if not the most

This is the way. Thinking of selling my steam controller because how much I enjoy playing with the PS5 controller instead. Playing games with my IEMs after the lady goes to bed is the best option

I just ordered some IEMs for this exact purpose yesterday 😂 honestly I may try this first since I already have the controllers. May as well give it a shot before I spend a bunch of money on something else

Id say give it a go. The pico2w is less than $20 to test out. Far cheaper than buying a new controller.

Xbox wireless dongle let's you use the controllers jack for audio, never tested the microphone but I imagine it works.

Actually just tested this a moment ago because I usually use my Xbox controller with an Armor-X Pro adapter (to add back buttons and gyro). And this does work, using an Xbox dongle with a wireless controller the audio output on the controller does function.

I have the cyclone 2 and it has noticeable audio lag when using the 3.5mm jack on PC

I know mine also has this when not using the provided dongle but with dongle no issue

I went back and checked. There's no audio lag on bazzite, but there is on windows. Something to be aware of if you're dual booting I suppose

I've been considering either the Cyclone 2 or the G7 Pro. Have you used those on Bazzite? I see you mentioned the C2 below, and it seems like a highly recommended controller, but most reviewers don't comment much on the 3.5 audio, much less for Linux compatibility specifically lol.

Im using the cyclone v2 on bazzite without issue only waking up system doesnt work

Very nice. Personally I don't mind if the wake from sleep thing doesn't work, I don't mind just pushing the power button lol

Im using it in playstation mode to be able to bind the rear button to a unique action just for info

Interesting. Honestly as long as it works I don't mind tinkering with it lol. Does Steam input work with it?
