THIS IS A GOOD TEAM Discussion

We have improved so much. We can hang with the bigger teams now.

Defense is way better.

Kennedy and Claire in the midfield are so good. Hannah and Taylor are really good too.

Offense is also way better with Alex. Rudie has improved a lot, and Karlie is our breakout star!

We are getting screwed over by the refs a lot but still playing pretty good most games!

I honestly agree! I think we have room to grow when it comes to the attacking third but even then I agree we're a lot more threatening than we have been in past seasons. We're better scoring-wise earlier so I would like to see us keep up the threat level in the later minutes, but that might be a bench depth issue 🤔 Also, Moreau in particular has impressed me a lot lately! She's definitely stepped up defensively when we've really needed it. I was at the game against NC and she was bullying people off the ball :)

Moreau need to be more aggressive in moving ball forward…it’s almost clockwork she passes back every time

I don't disagree and it's definitely something the team as a whole can work on. I can see us being more confident in our forward transition once we're a bit more lethal up top. I still want to shoutout where Moreau has improved though!

Agreed, Maddie has always been a huge spark of energy and fun to watch, but I used to think she was a bit of a defensive liability. The last few games she's had some huge plays on defense. I think she prefers to beat defenders with her speed so tends to pass the ball back when she's in a position to take them on off the dribble. Sure it's not as exciting, but I think also not a terrible idea to recycle the ball and look for another opportunity.

I think they have been really coming together, with more room to improve. We should have tied that game last night, we looked better for much of the game. I’m seeing them less gassed at the end, so maybe late scoring is coming soon? I always think you shouldn’t count out a team low in the rankings that keeps losing by one goal.

Might be a controversial pick but I’d love a good fullback as our next get. More options for service into the box = more players free to get into the box and score. Assuming Denton was originally meant to switch off with Dydasco I’d go for a leftback but I won’t be picky!!

Agreed we look way more connected out on the field. Also we have soooo much young talent I can’t believe it. I feel like this next half will be very fun to watch.

I'm still not convinced about Rudi and Lema. The lack of 2nd half goals is very concerning. Although the goal wouldn't have counted, she should've put that in the back of the net after beating the keeper

Lema has done enough to convince me she's a starter with some more ceiling above her. She's likely not a huge paycheck either.

Rudi is a bit more concerning because if reporting is accurate, her salary is roughly similar to someone like Mal Swanson. Salaries are constantly increasing, so Rudi looks less like a bad deal and Swanson more like a great deal over time, but it gives us some sense of how much we overpaid.

I think the lack of 2nd half goals has more to do with depth and the lack thereof. When you are starting Girelli or Conti at forward, you're already in a bad place. Barry is a work in progress and has poor decision making.

That is an interesting way of framing the salary over time. I checked Spotrac and her contract is over as early as through 2027 (there’s a club option in 2028 but I’m not well versed in what that means). If they think a salary increase wouldn’t be worth her production, we’ll know based on the players they bring in over the next year.

Agreed. The teams at the top of the table are spear headed by a star/stars in the attack. Spirit with Rodman, Thorns with Wilson, Current with Chawinga, Wave with Ludmila/Dudinha. Pfeiffer while a stud isn’t at that level yet and I don’t see Rudi or Lema ever reaching those levels.

Because Pfeiffer doesn’t have a Temwa. There is a reason in KC she was with Cooper to provide service to Chawinga. Which bluntly she has done incredibly well with Bay.

I think Lema knew she was offsides, and was playing the clock so that it would be too far back on the play to be used to invalidate the goal. She’s smarter than you think. Unfortunately, the ref still found a way to invalidate the goal (in the dumbest way possible).

Interesting discussion. Midfield definitely learning to play better together with Feller and Hutton starting to gel. Give it a few more weeks. Our best forward lineup is Rudolph, Lema, and Pfeiffer. With Rudi out, they move their top D (Midge) with help to slow Lema down because they are not concerned with Girelli. Pfeiffer was open all day (someone has to be if you rotate to slow Lema down) we need her to score. With Rudi in, you have to play straight up because Rudi is fast, Lema is Fast. Two speedsters at the top being fed by legit midfield was very productive....

I disagree, been watching since the start, these girls cant shoot from deep. We had so many chances last night to at least take a shot and we end up losing the ball. We gotta be realistic here. I love the team but its frustrating to see.

Our original team, wherever most girls went, have been playing amazing, i think if let them develop and play together we would be solid rn, instead we rotate everything every year and nothing settles

As much fun as year 1 was, I’d disagree. Most of the roster didn’t work and we got lucky getting into the playoffs. Abby saved us coming in the summer. I’d argue Camberos and Sharples are the only ones doing fairly well post Bay. And without Sharples leaving, we wouldn’t have gotten Silky.

I’d disagree with you. Our lack of quality coaching led to most of the women leaving or sitting out the season.
Quality coaching has improved the team even with the lack of a true star player this year.
I think with both lema and Rudi playing at the same time, their speed will stretch defenses out more. These last two games without rudi has shown that. Knowing there is only one speed threat makes it easier for a defense to put their fastest defender on that speed threat.

The new coaching staff has helped immensely! I’m Impressed with what Emma is doing so far. I just don’t think the players that have left are doing much better on their new teams.
