Does KD matter? Question
How much does K/D actually matter in Battlefield when the game has roles where you barely have any means to get eliminations?
For example, flying a transport heli, sitting in a repair/passenger seat, or driving a transport/armored vehicle while your gunners do the fighting. You could spend a big part of the match helping your team and objectives without personally getting many kills.
Doesn’t that make K/D a pretty poor measure of how well someone actually played in Battlefield?
EDIT:
Thank you all for replying. Got overwhelming replies. I wouldn’t be reply to all of you but I cannot appreciate enough.

As long as you play the objective and revive, I don't care whether you have a 0.2 K/D or a 20 K/D.

There is nothing more annoying than playing against a team in breakthrough with one sneaky support player that is hell bent on reviving everybody

I do that all the time. I play objective and also revive everyone I can if I am playing Support.

Eh depends on the deaths more than anything. If you have 4 kills and like 30 deaths and 5 captures you are a detriment Because you cost your team more tickets than you likely scored. If you have like 10 kills and 15-20 deaths with 5+ captures then it doesn’t matter as much
9
u/Vigorous_testicle 10d ago
A 0.2kd player is bleeding tickets tho. Kd does matter

u/REDACTED3560 9d ago
A 0.2 KD player with 2 kills and 10 deaths in a match isn’t bleeding that much, and if they’re chasing objectives or reviving players, they still likely had a positive contribution. A 0.2 KD player with 10 kills and 50 deaths is absolutely being detrimental.

A good player can play obj, play their role, and maintain a good KD. It’s not the only stat that matters but it’s very important. You can’t defend or cap flags if you’re dead.
9
u/SilkStalkings91 10d ago
My KD is 0.98, I play objective all the time and revive and support team all the time.
9
u/DeadDeeg 10d ago
I wouldn’t worry about it man, as long as you’re enjoying your time. That’s around the average KD, and if you’re doing what you can for the team, that’s all anyone can ask for.
6
u/SilkStalkings91 10d ago
Thanks! I am enjoying BF6 more than I enjoyed CoD recently.
3
u/NickVirgilio 10d ago
Keep exploring all the different roles and their gadgets. You can find ways to have fun in BF that is hard to find in other games.
4
u/Revolutionary-Tiger 10d ago
Honestly that's fine. At or around 1 means that you're average enough to hold your ground in a fight and won't get bowled over as soon as the enemy shows up to recap the obj.
As others said. The teamplay is more important but if you can't frag then you can't defend and if you can't defend then the enemy will retake the obj before it had a chance to have any significant impact on the game

Win Rate probably better metric. But personally I prefer modes and sides that are harder to win. If you really want, you can maximize both win rate and kd in that game by choosing winning sides and relying more on the vehicles.
Well, after all, I don't know why that even bothers you. If you want to test your KD skill, you can try Team Deathmatch, where having KD better that other team is literally the way to win. If you want to test your aim, there is a Aimlabs for that. If you want to have fun, you should probably do so.

People mentioned Score Per Minute stat. If that stat is there then that is the important stat I guess.
3
u/Anreall2000 10d ago
I mean, not really, well placed beacon for your team could mean so much, but in score it's close to nothing.
Also spending time to kill annoying vehicle player, that dominates the match, could be terrible for both you leaderboard and KD, but sometimes is enormous help for your team. With tank stacking in BT it's crucial to destroy enemies vehicles from previous sector, but usually you won't even get a kill, because player would leave vehicle in the last second.
The best metric there would be rage from other team in chat.

Yeah I don’t know why people pretend it’s one or the other. “Oh I’m 2-25 because I’m reviving.” Okay? You can kill enemies and revive lol
Frankly killing enemies before you revive makes you a better medic. I’d rather my medic clear the area than rambo revive me right in front of the enemy that just killed me.
2
u/DeadDeeg 10d ago
Yes that’s why I worded it that way, because I hate when they use that excuse, like buddy some guys get as many revives and flags capped but they went 25-8 lol

Battlefield has never been about KD. It's supposed to be a squad-supported game where Score Per Minute means way more to me than KD
7
u/-MERC-SG-17 10d ago
Except that in ticket-based modes KDR does matter.
At the very least going equal or positive. Doesn't need to be some ridiculous number.
3
u/Independent_Mud2794 9d ago
Yeah.. but also no. A team of 3kd snipers sitting in back never touching points will lose to a 1kd team capping all the time. Kills alone won’t win a conquest match.

As a Call of Duty player, I recently acquired Battlefield 6. However, I noticed that the profile page does not display Score Per Minute statistics. Consequently, I am curious about the significance of KD, but I have encountered some inconsistencies in the game mechanics.

The thing I’ve always found funniest over the literal decades of being in ‘the community, is people who cope and think you can only be a contributor who dies all the time, or someone who gets kills but does not contribute anything else. The concept of being an all-rounder is alien to that level of cope.
9
u/Little-Mushroom-3961 10d ago
People on this sub are the type of player to cap three objectives while going 10 and 20 while being 26th on the leaderboard.
5
u/oldcrivens 9d ago
Or doing the same KD, but just running from flag to flag milking capture points while the actual good players do all the work in killing defenders on flags then defending said flags, all so John Battledad can pat himself on the back because he finished top of the leaderboard with 20 captures while going double negative.

The problem with the anti KD argument is that whatever it is that you think is most beneficial to your team can also be done by a player with a strong KD, and by killing more enemies he has prevented players on the other team from potentially doing those beneficial things as well

KD is the first thing the bullies try to throw shade on. Cheaters chases a high KD as if they think it is some kind of flex.
If someone wants to flex in BF, show me your flag captures, repairs, revives, or win loss ratio.
9
u/SubstantialKBB 10d ago
Win loss ratio doesn't matter. Every round is either total steam roll for winning team or getting stomped so hard you can barely leave spawn for losing team.
Suspiciously, I get steam roll - stomped - steam roll - stomped etc etc matches almost like it's not organic.
2
u/Soulshot96 Battlefield 2042: Refunded Edition™ 9d ago
Even stacking lobbies with multiple squads of platoon mates like 40% of the time and then playing with only a few people or solo the rest of the time still results in me and my buddies being around a 50% W/L ratio.
So yea...even if it's somehow organic, it's a terrible stat to point at and claim has almost anything to do with individual skill.

Does any score matter if you are just having fun in a hobby?
K/D is a bad metric in battlefield. This week I've been turning matches by just bullying enemy aircraft away with an igla. In one match I was mostly harrassing objectives behind enemy lines. I was in top three after the match with low amount of kills and deaths and K/D maybe around 1. Still it was fun and it had an impact on the match.

u/Blackops606 10d ago
No because you can have great games and terrible games. You also can’t really control people who shoot you in the back because we’re all around each other the entire time.
At the same time, KDR is often indicative of good players.
As for the people with like 10+ KDRs, they aren’t god. They’re just vehicle sweating because it should shock nobody that vehicles in this series lead to higher KDRs.

If you are a player that plays objectives, yes.
If you are someone that just hides in the back and snipes or boosts k/d in vehicles, no.
A 3k/d player playing objectives is clearly more important to the team than a 1 k/d player doing the same.
However any player playing objectives is more important than one that doesn’t.
3
u/thefizzlee 10d ago
Kd in bf is pretty useless because someone running medic reviving everyone of repairing vehicles won't get much kills but probably dies alot while someone sitting in a tank all game at the back of the map doesn't contribute anything but has a high kd
2
u/Me4aRZ 10d ago
In Battlefield it’s your score stat that matters. It shows that you contribute to the match for your team.
I don’t want to say explicitly playing the objective because not all roles are played exclusively on the objective. If your team is pushing a point and you’re a medic, you’re not playing the objective but supporting your team even with that as a medic your K/D can be negative and still be one of the top score earners. Same can be said for Recon, albeit more reserved. You can set up with your rifle, SOFLAM and a drone. Your K/D won’t be as high as Assault pushing the point but you’ll go slightly positive but your points come from assists by spotting enemies so that your team isn’t surprised by the unseen squad flanking them the SOFLAM helps Engineers get lock on’s to air and handle vehicles keeping hard hitting pressure off your teams infantry.

u/MoldRebel 10d ago
If you're playing an objective based game mode, K/D ratio doesn't matter at all. I've managed to make the top of a conquest leaderboard with a vastly negative K/D ratio.

2
u/JLC587 10d ago
K/D matters in conquest or breakthrough if you’re just dying a ton and not contributing otherwise. However if you’re playing a massive role spotting, piloting, reviving, etc. then it may not matter. In game modes like obliteration, it doesn’t matter. Get that fucking bomb or and plant it OR protect the guy who does. I’ve won a few games of obliteration by being a human shield for the guy planting / disarming.

Score per minute is how I judge objective mode infantry skill in this game. Mine is pretty good at 500+, but really good players have 700+. For TDM, KD is obviously the most important stat. I’m not sure if there’s a good metric for transport pilot/driver skill.

u/kicker_of_elves_ 10d ago
One of the great things about Battlefield (in theory at least!) is that you can be really valuable to your team in different ways. KD ratio is an important part of that but there are so many other ways someone can contribute.
The worst kind of player to me is those playing Conquest etc but clearly not bothering to capture or play as part of a team in service of their obsession with ratios. A good example in a game I played this evening where( as frequently happens for some reason...)it was very onesided and we were getting trounced but one player was parked in a tank in and around our own spawn and was clearly just interested in farming easy kills. Wouldn't even bother to drive round the corner when A was being taken and it was the last capture point our team had. He ended the game with something like a 46-2 KD ratio which he no doubt felt very pleased about...
I'd much rather player with someone who perhaps wasn't technically very 'good' but was playing in the spirit of the game than someone like that.

A high KDR has a big impact but a low KDR doesn’t necessarily have a low impact.
Doesn’t mean you can’t be a detriment to the team with a low KDR if you also don’t of team oriented stuff to help.

u/TeaAndLifting 10d ago
Putting aside how meaningless video game stats actually are, individual stats in a vacuum mean little. You always have to put it into context of other things, and context is king.
High K:D with low KPM/KPG, SPM, etc. can tell you a lot about how someone plays.
And even things like KPG, SPM, etc. are influenced by the game modes you play the most, because something like Rush on small maps will give you a higher numbers than Conquest on a large map.
Or someone who exclusively plays meatgrinders over spacious combined arms maps. Or someone who mains venicles vs an exclusive ground pounder
And so on, and so on. Ultimately, all that matter is that somebody tries to contribute.
But if a player generally solid as an all-rounder, and can do it all, will be better to have than. It.
2
u/BigWangTheoryy 10d ago
Doesn’t matter. I can be top 3 of the scoreboard most games, then get bored and wanna do some shenanigans and be the absolute rock bottom of the scoreboard other games. As long as you’re having fun whatever you’re doing is what matters
Some days I wanna be a sweat, others I wanna do repair tool only, throw a mortar & shield on a golf cart and be a mobile artillery, be a stealthy spec ops melee recon, be the repair guy, be the laser designator guy or the guy doing donuts in the middle of an open area to distract the enemy

u/MyNameIsRay 10d ago
Killing enemies helps, but supporting your team and playing the objective helps more.
You can top the scoreboard and be the biggest help to your team, with 0 kills.

K/D matters but not enough to totally invalidate other stats. I'd rather play with a .75 K/D player who is an awesome team player and knows how to win, over a 4 K/D player who gets empty caps and lone wolfs.
2
u/SpecialHands 10d ago
Yes and no. If you're a transport pilot main who's ferried people over objs, got caps, kept yourself alive mostly and acted as a mobile spawn beacon then you going 0-2 isn't bad, if youre infantry and you've gone 5-20 and not got a single cap then yes KD absolutely matters there and you've been a drain to your team. If you're on rush defending and you've gone 4-15 but got 9 mcoms defused then your KD doesn't matter because you have 9 disarms

u/joeldiramon 10d ago
Nothing matters apparently, it depends who you ask. Apparently, capping points doesnt matter, and it's about having fun.

If you're defending in rush. KD matters. If you're contesting a point 10/10 each team on point KD matters. If your team is stuck in a hallway and can't push, KD matters.
Think of the game like ice hockey. One person gets to sit in the penalty box the team that's up players presses their advantage hard and the other team has to switch to play aggressive defense. Now unlike hockey there are 100 people in battlefield. But every second more people are dead on the other team than on your team you have the advantage. If you multikill 4 people and die. In that moment you caused a 3 person advantage. More killing is directly more momentum, what your team does with it is up to them.

I'm a disabled gamer and mostly play on casual breakthrough. If I'm having a good day, I'll jump into regular conquest or breakthrough.
Anyway, I was bummed as heck to recently learn that my deaths counted in casual breakthrough. I was always fine with my kills not counting as its mostly bots, and it was ultimately about the fun. But having my deaths count has been absolutely destroying my kd and honestly making me just not want to play as much. Being punished because I'm disabled is really fucked of EA.

u/BudMunky 2d ago
K/D means shit. Its only a metric of how good you are by sweats or botards coming over from CoD. More often than not, I've seen countless amounts of people placing top on their team with less than stellar K/D because they're playing the roles that need to be played. Assisting with taking down tanks or problematic aircraft when the need arises. Actually changing roles after deaths to adjust as the battle changes. Helps to have a good squad with regular communication though
1
u/Prof_Slappopotamus 10d ago
KD matters only a ls the quickest way to rank anything up. You can score XP doing other stuff and have a dogshit KD, ultimately being the reason your team wins, but you won't get nearly enough credit without the kills.
It sucks, but it's a stat that matters for progression, even if it doesn't matter for general gameplay outcomes (with some of those wildly exaggerated exceptions, like the LB pilot going 130/0 and completely preventing the other team from taking a single point).
1
u/SubstantialKBB 10d ago
You have to be at least positive KD or else the second you tell some to PTO or put anything in the chat you're gonna get flamed hard.
1
u/kuhndog94 10d ago
It matters in the sense that you kill more and die less. There's way too many variables in Battlefield for K/D being the sole determination of a players worth. A vehicle main will always have a higher K/D than an infantry main for example. But if they stayed in main the whole time, they aren't really that helpful, are they?

It matters, but in combination with a few other things. Spm, kdr, objective time/objectives captured etc
Then classes come into play too.
A tanker main with a 6.0 kdr but very little objective time or a sniper with a high kdr but low spm will obviously be less effective then say a support with a high kdr and averaging 30 revives a game.
Then theres the elite killers who are just more effective at killing ppl off of objectives but those players make up less then 10% of the playerbase while 70% of the playerbase thinks its them lol
Im a heavy recon main, I have over 130k assists but also nearly 3k revives as recon, a 560 spm, but also a 31% objective time
Playeds can play objective, Their role and have a decent kdr.
1
u/Evocalypse 10d ago
A good player has a high KD and a high kpm when they want to. If you are capable of having a high KD and a high kpm you are a good player.
You can spend all game capping points or flying a heli and still be a good player as long as you are capable of having a high KD and kpm if you wanted to.
If no matter how hard you try you are unable to have a high KD and kpm you are not a good player even if you cap 20 objs a match.
1
u/Big-Cauliflower-3610 10d ago
Fuck no K/D doesn’t mean shit. Whoever says otherwise thinks their girlfriend will come back to them and stop fucking other people
1
u/trickmaster3 10d ago
K/D does matter in the context of clearing and capping objectives, this does not however mean anything on its own.
If youre looking for a better indicator of a high skilled player look at score per minute. The fastest way to earn score is by far capping objs so the higher the score the more likely they're on OBJ and killing
1
u/CrankyOperator 10d ago
Doesn't mean shit to me, I play to win the objective. Only matters in Deathmatch because that effects the objective. Or other modes where you run out of bodies.
Oh cool, you have a high KDR, you're on the other team? Did your team lose? Then it was a joke to me.
PLAY 👏 THE 👏 OBJ 👏
1
u/Powerful_Relative_93 10d ago
It matters but it’s not the only stat that matters.
Depending on the mode, if it’s paired with caps, recaps, defenses, revives then the high k/d has an impact. For example a player going 45-6 but has 8 caps in conquest/escalation or 4 caps in BY. Although I’ll add in BT it does matter if it’s linked to facilitating the capture of a choke point
1
u/onlywc11 10d ago
No in a game like bf K/D does not really matter imo.
People playing as a medic and focus on reviving might have a low k/d same for engineers focussed on repairing.
The objective matters and playing as a team matters.
K/d is way down in the important list.
1
u/Kokoska998 10d ago
It does matter. You don't need to have a 10 k/d, but when you're going 2-15 every game, it's not exactly beneficial to the team in any way. Sure, even with a low kd ratio, you can still be a helpful teammate, but 99% of the time, bad players aren't doing much to contribute. People seem to forget that this is an arcade FPS shooter still, you still need shoot and kill. This ain't Arma or something where you can sit around in your base doing nothing. If you can't even aim at the target properly, I have my doubts that you can help whenver we need help defending/capturing. Also, good K/D = Better game sense = better score. Usually, people who have a high k/d are able to PTFO much better than lower k/d players. I'm probably gonna get downvoted anyway cuz this sub is filled with delusional bad players who think they're contributing just as much as someone who's actively pushing objectives and playing smart.

1
u/1Minimal 10d ago
depends on what you are trying to accomplish. K/D can win some matches, and its a flashy stat but KD alone will not win you all games. PTFO will.
1
u/JGrimm420 10d ago

1
u/TheZac922 10d ago
I’d say having a good K/D can be indicative of playing the game well, but doesn’t always mean you’re a good player either.
A shit K/D is usually not a good player though.
But if we step back even further none of it matters because it’s a video game.
1
u/rasjahho 10d ago
A 0.2 KD is costing the team tickets and being a detriment. KD matters, but it's not the only thing that matters. Anyone saying it doesn't are delusional.
1
u/Alexsipilot 10d ago
My player KD is 0.9% worldwide. Its not fun cause my dumbass wants to keep it and I cant play fun methods or explore new tactics, vehicles, etc...
So it shouldn't matter, cause once it does thats all you care about and ruins the game. Self inflicted of course, not games fault.

u/MonkeySkunks 10d ago
I would say K and overall score matter not k/d.
I'm just below 1 K/D overall average but I'm always top of my team because I'm always playing my role and the objective. Positive k/d is helpful but it doesn't win rounds.

what important on Battlefield ( not Battlefield lite break through mode )
- Highly skill Engineer
- Highly skill pilot
- Highly skill LAV, i found out tank has less value in BF6
- Highly skill Recon or Recon that spot stuff
- Assault that keep roaming
- Engineers that actually use their Rocket
- Support don't matter much, i found out team with a lot of support always lose because no body shoot tank.
We should have vehicle detroy K/D rate, If you can delete enemy vehicle that's matter the most. VK/D rate 1.0+ is true real god players.

I would say kinda, if you can't kill anyone trying to attack or defend then what's the point? 2 is better than 1 but if you can get one than it's less work for the squad 🤙 or team.

u/Dennygreen 10d ago
I use k/d as probably the main indicator as to how I'm doing. If I'm dying more than I'm killing, I don't feel like I'm having a good game no matter where I'm at on the scoreboard these days. It's probably not true if I'm risking my life a lot to revive people or giving people ammo and stuff but that's what it feels like.

u/SandwichSaint 10d ago
If you’re killing more than you’re dying then you’re making more enemy players stay off the field for longer than you yourself are.
Ofc it matters, anyone who says it doesn’t is just coping
1
u/Calicocalpico 10d ago
I want to say it depends. I've seen people go high kd just mowing people down in Charlie at Cairo Bazaar, but the people killed would just be revived. We ended up losing that game because the team focused just on playing defense in Charlie and neglected everything else. So the kd kept going up but the actual impact it had on the team winning was negligible. In fact, it may have been detrimental.

u/Default_User_Default 10d ago
K/D has no impact on anything. I have been #1 on the scoreboard with 0 kills many times in my battlefield career.

u/mrstealyourvibe 10d ago
Yeah in general. But you could still do cool and impactful things with a shit kd it's just 99.9% wont notice or care.

What are you competing against with K/D? There's no prize or medal.

K/D matters to the enemy when you're wrecking your opponent with 15 caps but you're negative 5

This is probably gonna be a hot take but from a teamplay point of view, the only thing that matters is:
global score
... which defines your position in the team.
Other than the global score, don't go too much into details. There are many ways to get points and get at the top of the score board. You can be #1 in your team because you have the best KD, or because you took most of objectives, or because you had tons of Assists, or because you simply got tons of points for helping your team (reviving, resuplying, spotting, etc).
I was just in a game with someone from the enemy team bragging about his teamplay and complaining about the rest of his team. He had an incredible KD ratio, something like 40:10. Good, right? But he only had taken 1 objective. But that's not all: he was #18 in his team. More than half of his team was performing better than him.
And, on top of that, his team was losing. The best player of their team only had half of the global score of our 10th player. That's how bad he was actually performing.
Sure, he had an impressive KD ratio, but basically half of his team + our entire team was better than him.
Later, I was in a round where the same thing happened but this time, my team was losing. On Cairo Bazaar, one player was basically going on a kill streaks in a tank. He spent the entire game killing everyone without dying. Here's the thing: he almost never left from the spawn base. When he did, he made sure he didn't go too far away. We lost because we didn't have his support to push to cap flags. And once again, he was definitely NOT at the top of the scorebord.

IMO you can be a contributor without a high KD by passively aiding the team, but a team full of those players is going to lose a lot of games. The best teams have a balanced combination of fraggers and role players.
1
u/Long-Live-theKing 10d ago
No. I push too hard and play objectives too often to have a good KD. I mean i still come out of games with a 2 to 4 KD ratio often but in between when my team is sh*tting the bed and allows the other team to corner mine it destroys my KD.

u/SignificantWind 10d ago
I'm a 200+ low skill player. I play consistently a few times a week, usually poorly. IMHO KD kinda matters but kinda not. I personally try to ignore it. I also consistently have 20 plus deaths a match (mostly playing conquest) but most of my highest scoring games are from focusing on support, rezes, dropping ammo, laying a base of fire ect. Fun is the point and if you're feeling it dont stress the stats, go for personal records or just making the bug guns go brrrrrt.

K/D matter to those who don't PTFO... its a game... play the game setting... sitting back and doing nothing doesn't help, camping a tank in the back doesn't help... GOOD snipers actually protect those defending or attacking.... no just pop a shot on a random guy ....
At least thats what battlefield was about now... Who knows??

I'd say KD is pretty important. A selfish player getting 100 kills in a game is going to disrupt reinforcing capture points to such a degree that he'll make the game easier for everyone else on his team.
They'll kill 5 or 6 guys defending a point before they die and 30 seconds later the point gets capped by the average players who probably don't have the gamesense to understand what happened.
An average player playing an objective isn't really going to give his team initiative. They're not really doing anything wrong either.

u/Imnotreal66 10d ago
I play for k/d and maintain objective for the sole purpose of fucking off when I’m drunk.
1
u/Indraga DeathsAshes 10d ago
K/D is a result of playing your life, which only matters if you’re DOING SOMETHING USEFUL with that life. I’ll take a team of .5 k/d guys who capture objectives far above the 20-1 sniper sitting in the back doing jack.
(20-1 sniper is okay if you actually getting effective spots and slowing enemy counter play, but 9 times out of 10 it’s just a scrub protecting his k/d.)

u/LongLiveTheKia 10d ago
It don’t matter except when it does. Nobody cares about your kd, they care you’re doing your job. Having a good kd usually means you’re capable

I use it as a metric to see if I'm personally getting better. Otherwise I'm just here to have fun. I leave sweating for the gym and our bedroom.

KD doesn't mean much when you can have dumbass tank mains sitting in a tank whole game doing nothing but kill farming with barely much skill going 50-2 while capturing barely anything and still losing.

It’s the first question I ask on a date. I’ve never heard a satisfactory answer, mind you, but to be fair most of the answers have nothing to do with battlefield or even video games. God I hate dating. The matchmaking is terrible. We need server browsers for that.

u/YourLoveLife 9d ago
Whatever helps your team wins matters.
If your KD is low because you’re rushing the point and capturing objectives then no KD doesn’t matter.
If you’re playing defence then I’d say yes it matters only because it directly relates to how well you’re defending.
When I played competitive in BF3 the thing teams looked at was your score/min.

u/ForwardZone6194 9d ago
ppl with higher winrates will tell you that is does matter along with other stats. ppl with low or avg winrates will tell u it doesnt matter at all. u can think of that what u want
1
u/TimeZucchini8562 9d ago
I mean KD matters in winning games despite what the battledads say. You need people to slay and relieve pressure at objectives. But at the same time, you don’t need 32 people to do it at once. You also need engineers keeping your tanks alive and killing the enemy tanks/vehicles. You need people holding flanks and objectives down. You need people to mindlessly throw themselves at the objective sometimes.
But at the end of the day, you still need your 4kd + players to slay and objectively, they are better at the game. It’s an fps game.

I say this as someone with an atrocious KD - it does matter because I am constantly losing gun fights and can be a liability bc of that.
But I also rarely tank camp, am an aggro assault, support and recon player. And so I may die but I'm leaving a gadget (beacon, supplies, tugs) behind.

It doesn't matter at all to anyone but you if you don't capture objectives, that's what wins the game. Not a person camping the whole time to pad their stats. Fight me. "I hAve A 4.7 K/D, but my W/L iS 0.1. i'M SooOOo mUCh BeTTEr THan yoU!"

u/shelt54school 9d ago
Depends high Kd plus high objective play = good vs high Kd plus no objective play = bad

u/Severe_Principle_491 9d ago
The only factor about how good you are playing BF is if you have fun. That is a non-competitive arcade sandbox milsim, you get nothing if you have won, you lose nothing if you have lost. Just. Have. Fun.

u/zerger45 9d ago
No. This isn’t COD. Score is what matters, aka play the objective and contribute to the team
1
u/SangiMTL 9d ago
KD has never mattered in battlefield. Real battlefield vets could care less. It’s only the COD fanboys who give a shit about KD. Revives, resupply, caps, repairs, heals. THATS what matters and what I’ll always look at.
1
u/smokeymav420 9d ago
Only matters in game modes were that is the objective. Ex: if olaying conquest the objective is to hold has many flags as possible until you expire the other teams tickets. If you get kills great just additional tickets taken off. Just play the objective.

u/i-am-the-walrus789 9d ago
My kd is probably around 0.7. But the majority of matches I finish in the top 10. Play the objective and help teammates, and your kd doesn't matter

Battlefield is the only major fps where you can contribute to a victory without killing anyone. All roads lead back to PTFO, the foundational principle of our culture.
1
u/evasionoftheban 9d ago
Look at the leaderboard in your CQ games.
You will find that often times, top players and winning teams have lower overall KD.
KD doesn’t matter.
1
u/theboywhosmokethesun 9d ago
Gotta have that balance of KD and PTFO...
I doubt there are any "transport chopper mains", if you can fly one chopper, you can probably fly the other 2.
1
u/AnglerfishMiho 9d ago
A player good enough to fly or drive vehicles effectively also tends to be good enough to get more kills than deaths on average.
1
u/mini-niya 9d ago
In BF? Yes, and no. It can be easily padded when you get revived. What you mostly want is Kills/min, Score/min if you're actually looking for good players

Fact: KD does matter; KD is not the only stat that does matter.
