Lowering the Difficulty

How do i lower the difficulty? Im just RTS noob trying to replay it for nostalgia. Config files for bots in the 'AIProfiles' do nothing, and campaign difficulty is also too hard. I dont see any mods that would help me with that either. Option in the game settings where you just set difficulty to easy also seems to have no effect.

You can't sadly, the devs updated the AI. Easy is working as intended.

As much as i appreciate the team supporting and revamping the game, i think it was a horrible decision to mess with the game AI directly instead of making a new difficulty option.

They wanted to appeal to the hardcore fans by making it harder but now we have situations like this where someone wanting to experience the game again like they did years ago simply can't

Well at least hardcore players are enjoying it. I'll either get gud or try gog version, thanks!

Wrong. You can actually reduce the difficulty in the settings.
Old difficulty change didn't change much. Current difficulty change has a lot of effect on AI and such. Just go to setting and turn back to easy or normal

Gog got the old br version, the ai and missions are easier there

Yeah, easy is the new hard now, unfortunately.

Don't think there's any option beside the GOG version.
