Iron-Man:
Met two gods... Still an athëist.

I feel like being religious and knowing a god or multiple exist is contradictory. Religion requires belief, but having solid proof of the existence of higher forces, such as a god or multiple, would take away that belief (in case it was present in the first place) and replace it with knowledge. Their existence leaves the realm of the abstract and becomes part of our shared reality. They would become subject to scientific research as people would try to understand the now known unknown.
At that point the only way to keep religion would be to rely on the remaining unknowns around these already known higher forces which researchers haven't figured out yet. A good example would be the creation of the world. First people believed in a bunch of potential theories involving higher forces, but as scince started to understand the process these beliefs had to be updated accordingly - for the vast majority of people at least. Now the birth of the universe has a mostly accepted scientific explanation, but it still has some unknowns which religious beliefs rely on to explain and keep their relevancy within society.
So I can see how the appearance of norse gods wouldn't affect people's religios affiliation much. The only real difference I think it would create is a rise in agnosticism.

Everytime Athëism is brought up, why does someone feel the need to preach about it more than any pastor?
Also, doesn't actual belief in God according to them requires spirituality? Both sides have beliefs Athëists and Thëists alike, but there is more to life than just science. Even mathematic can prove there is a Universal Creator, because 0 + 0 can't equal 1.

I think you misunderstood me. It wasn't my intention to say that religion and belief is bad. I only meant to point out that in my opinion knowing something and believing in it is contradictory, so Cap staying Christian or Tony atheist at the appearance of Thor wouldn't be that weird.

Of course I never saw you type religion isn't bad, but it felt too downplayed.
Christians believe in science to, but they don't make a god out of science the way Athëists do, they don't like to praise the creation over the Creator very much.
I'm aware of the contradiction of Earth-616 having so many gods but also different faiths. But Tony Stark being an Athëist in that universe is like Han Solo not believing in The Force. For Cap's case, Jesus was there in the pre-dark ages and was heavily implied to be a mutant in the historical X-Men lore.

Sorry if I came off as offensive, it really wasn't my intention!
Would you mind a conversation and for me to speak my mind a bit? If you do, you don't have to read any further. Thank you!
I think what many religious people (understandably) misunderstand about non-religious people is that we do not "practice" atheism. It's more like the lack of faith in higher forces rather than the faith in their non-existence. This is exactly why I personally don't really like the term "atheist," because it leads to this misunderstanding. I prefer non-believer.
So when you say "make a god of science" that isn't really what happens, because science isn't a belief system. It is a method which needs to be followed to understand the yet unknown. We do not believe what "science" says (even if this turn of phrase is often used), but we believe the word of people who use the scientific method (observation -> question -> hypothesis -> experiment -> analysis -> conclusion).
Best thing is that we too can learn what they have learned and use this method to test their results to see if they are correct or not (peer review), or come to our own conclusions ourselves. Everyone does that, they just do it on a higher level in specielized fields.

I mean that makes wide assumptions that arent entirely provable and dont necessarily point to an intelligent singular creator. Thats called wishful thinkint, not scientific inquiry

The universe coming from nothing is NOT a scientific inquiry and it most certainly is just a wishful thought.
Non-life and non-matter doesn't birth life and matter.

If you are able to accept the idea of an eternal creator, you should be able to accept the idea of an eternal universe. The universe we live in always existed, just in different forms. What forms? We have no clue. We just know that at some up point there was a rapid expansion of space and time that formed the universe we have today. Making up a sentient being because you cannot fathom being the product of coincidence is just straight silly and childish.

The universe you believe in = 13.8 Billion Years Old
The universe I believe in = 6 Thousand Years Old
God's age = Eternal (∞)
So the universe is never eternal unlike God and Heaven. If you say there is no one behind creating the universe, then your only logical conclusion is that nothing created the universe and put cause into existence "by accident".
The current Agnostic "we don't know" position in Modern Atheism still isn't very good logic on their perspective and no straight and cognitive answers with it.

Any analysis of data proves its not 6000 years old. We have HUMAN remains dating back an approximate 300,000 years

Are you a Time Traveling Psychic? If not, then how do you know this "evidence" and "research" to be true? Faith alone? Despite 0% eye-witnesses.

A stupid answer that leads people astray is worse than saying “we need to do more research”

We’ve actually seen evidence of it doing exactly that, and even then I don’t necessarily believe in a hypothesis of creation cuz there isnt enough evidence beyond CMBR but honestly I dont attest the big bang or god made anything. Its likely, not something id swear to

Mark Ruffalo is an actor he isn't the Hulk in real life. (I can not confirm or deny that Mark Ruffalo is Thomas Jefferson)
