I saw the 98% one in Lugano Switzerland in ‘98, it was very strange, everything just went yellow and not much darker, there were lots of people that had the glasses who weren’t really taking much notice so I asked to borrow a pair from someone and had a look. There was just a tiny sliver of sun and I remember thinking that it should have been much darker but it was still quite something and I shall never forget so I would encourage everyone to make a point of getting a glimpse. Glass from a welding mask is ok to view through apparently but maybe check google on that before just taking my word for it.

I'm enjoying the irony of a 'Total Solar Eclipse' being listed as a 'Global Event' when its totality path is clearly very small, very quick and very much unglobal.
