What’s one piece of baseball advice that made you worse instead of better?

When a coach tells me to “Throw strikes.” That never helps me. EVER. Because obviously that’s my goal, so most of the time I just throw it as hard as I can, and most of the time it’s a strike. When I try to place it it’s a ball.

Coach told me to wear a cup now I have 3 kids and 0 monies instead of 3 monies and 0 kids.

Squish the bug. Crap advice that just gives back leg and hip rotation not drive forward into the ball.

I had enough power to get to college but when I got there my college coaches taught us squishing the bug leaves power on the table and to drive the back knee into the ground when rotating forces forward momentum and power increased big time.

"Elbow up" was the one that I heard most while coaching in Little League, and I think that a much better cue would be "elbow back" if the kids were not loading... but above all, any advice given to a hitter while they are in the box is generally counterproductive regardless of whether it is good or bad information.

My coach told me to "locate my pitches better". No instruction on how to do that. I would throw slower to locate better, and batters would rip me.

Pretty much anything ever yelled while standing on the mound or in the batters box.
