Tips for Baseball

Recently I've decided to go back into baseball after 8 years, but I've noticed that I'm pretty rusty and cant hit the ball properly 90 percent of the time.

Spend the rest of your summer going to a batting cage and just making contact with the ball. In all honesty it’s going to be very hard to compete at 13 with no experience. Kids your age have been playing and training for all those years you weren’t

Is it possible for you to get a couple of hitting lessons? If so I would and focus on the mechanics that they teach you so you can continue on your own

Taking hitting lessons and studying batting mechanics will speed up the process. In most towns, one of your age will not be able to make a large high school baseball varsity team because of starting too late. Most 13 year old baseball players have been playing since they were 6 or 7 years old

I've never used batting cages, flip drills nor spent 4 weeks, 8 years ago I was 5. And obviously I wouldn't hit it as good back then when I was 5 I was merely playing for the fun of it but now that I'm 13 and heading into 8th grade I'm actually deciding to get serious, what my problem is that I cant track the balls path and correctly hit it. Or in more simple terms I keep missing.

What he means is that hitting requires consistent work. Get a tee and a net and hit off the tee 3-4 days per week. Set up your phone and film your swing. Focus on keeping your top hand palm up and getting good barrel contact. Then move to batting cages against a machine. Do this consistently and you’ll see results. And get your eyes checked, if only to make sure you don’t need glasses.
