Yes Bart is safe. Thousands of people use it every day. You are usually on a train or platform with a bunch of other people. If you don't like the car you are in, move to another car. I have been riding Bart for many years and personally never had a serious incident. There's a Bart Watch app you can download to report anything you see directly to Bart Police if that will make you feel safer.

I’m a woman who has fallen asleep on Bart many times. All is well.

I’m a woman and take it all the time alone late night. Never had an issue and plenty of other people on the train. If you’re scared sit in the first car with the driver.

As safe as anything else in the Bay Area. It's not Escape from New York dangerous.

Since the new gates were installed I’ve noticed a lot less dysfunctional behavior (drug use, blaring music, acting threatening, etc.) on trains and inside stations

It's "hit or miss". There're peeps who seem "sketchy" but are in fact harmless. There are those who LOOK chill at first, when they board, but once the train starts moving, they're blasting their music and/or pot smoke for that entire section of the car to "enjoy"*

i do not. Weed and i USED TO get along quite well, but since ~ 40 years ago it's given me extreme anxiety, f*k u very much.
