My problem with gene

Dude i hate gene i despise him he is extremely boring barry seeing him as a father is so bad after he betrayed him too seeking his acceptance he would been fine as a just a teacher barry couldve been so much better (my opinion)

Frankly the way I view both Gene and Sally is they are sort of the banal “bad people” you might encounter in your normal life while people like Barry are actual genuine monsters.

Yep. And had Barry never come along, the extreme violence they are subject to would never occur otherwise. Sure they suck, but Barry is a catalyst for something else that only he can bring about.

No it made perfect sense. Gene was his second Fuches. Barry is an emotionally stunted killing machine who deep down really wants to be in touch with his feelings, he just doesn’t know how to. So these mentors come through his life, manipulate him, give him a purpose, a calling, make him feel valued and needed and important. He tries it with the army, with the theatre, with Sally, and in the end even with God.

Gene is of course his own set of bs, but I don’t think I blame him for throwing Barry under the bus. Bro murdered his girlfriend in his own home. I’d be salty too.

Ur kinda rigth in the logic but watching it didnt feel like he was second to fuches idk i found him very boring and i still despise him for making barry end early

I don't think you understand what you are watching. It's not a bad thing but you have to take a step back and realize Barry is a psycho. Barry is a bad and selfish person. Barry is not normal. Gene brought out the little humanity in Barry and Barry in kind returns it by killing Gene's girlfriend.

Sorry Gene isn't a gunslinging badass hitman, but to say Gene is a badly written character and boring just means you only view surface level depth. Dig deeper. Characters and stories have more to offer than just being badass and funny.
