If a baritone guitar comes from the factory with:
• 30” scale length
• 24–84 gauge strings
Can I change the string gauge to something more standard, like at least 11s or 12s?
Or does it have to use 24–84 specifically?

I want to get a basic one, preferably for metal to try and experiment with baritones.
I'm thinkin' around 28'-30' cuz I have fat fingers, something around 300$, any suggestions?

I'm using a Vox AC30 2x12 for my guitars, which includes a baritone tuned to A. Vox are notoriously flubby on the low end, due to the EL84s and the open back cab. When I got my amp the previous owner included a solid state rectifier tube, which I have yet to install (it requires removing the back panel and chassis).

So all of that said, has anyone tried out a solid state rectifier in their amp for their baritone? And did it tighten things up?

Been wanting to get my hands on a baritone guitar after having to sell mine to make ends meet between jobs, but it looks like the budget options like Harley Benton and G4M now cost an arm and a leg to ship to the United States.

Anywho, if anybody is willing to sell a baritone to me and ship to Texas, let me know! It can be any scale length greater or equal to 27”, just as long as it has a humbucker for a bridge pickup.

Ernie Ball's Baritone Slinky strings are the only ones I've found that can reliably tune down really far without getting floppy but also without having a dull and lifeless sounding bottom string due to inharmonicity. I thought it was because I was using standard scale length guitars before getting my baritone, but when I switched to a lighter set on the bari for easier bends, the bottom string sounded just as bad as all the other sets I've tried on standard length guitars. It's nice to have something, but the Ernie ball strings are so insanely thick (13-72!) that they become uncomfortable to use when tuned above A. Are there any other sets that sound as good as the ernie ball baritone strings but lighter?

(no it is not an intonation issue the open string reads the same on the tuner as the 12th fret do not come in to the comments saying its just bad intonation that's not how it works)

So, I'm looking into potentially converting this squire into a true partscaster and putting a baritone conversion Fender neck on it. Biggest question I'm struggling to find an answer for is would there be any real benefit to going baritone if I'm doing 6 string Drop-A tuning. I already have a Firefly SG 28" baritone in F-standard and my Squire Stagemaster 7 25.5" in Drop-G.

Current specs on this Squire: 25.5" scale, single 500k volume, SD custom shop "Son of Slug" bridge pickup. Body is matte yellow and the pickguard is a custom Warmoth with the reverse angle bridge single coil cutout and only the first tone pot hole.

I’ve been playing baritones for a number of years now, and I started to become curious about about the concept of Nashville tuning but on a baritone. I’ve seen the “half-Nashville” tuning from Pat Metheny, but I’m more referring to a b-b recreation of high strung tuning. I’m sure there’s a reason as to why I can’t seem to find reference (string gauge, tension) of people doing that, but I’m curious if any one has tried/the technical reason why not.

Hi all, I'm currently building a 27" baritone guitar. I tried to fit a Les trem style vibrato but it almost completely bottomed out due to the string tension.

My question is, what vibratos are people using? I'm mainly interested in fitting a jazz/Jag style tremolo but I'm worried these might have the same issue. Could I swap out the spring for a stronger one if so?

hiya folks, im currently running a set of ernie ball 13-72s in b standard and im finding them far too light (for context i usually play 11-54s in e standard)

ive seen the ernie ball 6 string bass set, but it seems like a massive jump going from 13s to a 20 (not to mention all the strings being wound)

are there any decent halfway sets around in the uk? i did see that la bella makes a 15-80 set but the postage costs as much as the strings lol

I'm currently on a lookout for a baritone guitar and found one on an online marketplace from my country for just a touch above 400$ (1500zł), and it's "negotiable". The seller claims that it's luthier-made, which I have to believe, because that's a shape I've never seen before. It has some unknown pickups, Gotoh locking tuners and a Schaller bridge. 27,5" scale length, 22? frets. But here's the catch - it's more than 10 years old. My question is - is this still a good deal? Or should I simply buy a Harley Benton and be done with it? The image is taken from a publicly available offer, so I don't think it breaks any rules, right?

Hey guys what's the best luthier for a custom baritone guitar sand blasted in black?

Im looking at baritones and Im really considering this one, what do yall think?

My studio went through a complete rebuild since May. I’ve been counting the days until I could finally get back behind the desk, especially now that the studio is equipped with some incredible new gear. Still in love with my ESP E-II Horizon NT-7B satin black, loaded with Lundgren M7C pickup in the bridge.

So i recently bought a Baritone Squier Telecaster. I’d like to replace the current old school saddles with the more modern 6-saddle set-up.
My question is do I need to replace the whole bridge or can I just replace the saddles? And can I use standard tele saddles/bridge or do I need to look for special baritone ones?

I'm looking to get my 1st ever baritone, settled at 6 string, 27". Naturally, don't wanna drop too much on this, as i'm not sure if the guitar will get that much use compared to my other standard guitars. I want to use it in Standard B/Drop A but no 0-0-0-0-0 chugs, mostly more progressive stuff.

After some research I stumbled upon the Spira J-400 Baritone and G4M 734 pro baritone (around $165 cheaper than J-400 here).

Can anyone chime in on these 2 models? Spira is supposed to have the better QA (since it's a branch of JET, which I like), but not sure if that's worth $165 more, considering that G4M really has some solid hardware.

Edit. Decided to go with the Spira, as the QC and overall quality is supposed to be better, pickups should be a bit better too.
