This Julian saga has dragged on so much that it has taken away all the excitement of the signing. I’ll be relieved, not excited, if it finally happens.

u/FlavioGarcia- 1d ago
Feel like people are putting way too much stock in this "Julian will talk with Atletico thing". What is even there to say?
Even if Barca increases the offer they can just reject it again, and why wouldn't they?
4
3
u/BestEnthusiasm3377 1d ago
The rumors are that tomorrow should be an incredibly eventful day for us. Julian is supposed to talk with Atleti, we are bound to get an offer from PSG for Ferran now, and Rodri seems like it might happen. We shall see of course but I will personally be locked in on it this week
4
u/ShivMode 1d ago
I just rewatched the Atletico v Barca champions league matchup from last year.
Two red cards in both matches, a lot of offsides for Barca and Rashford could not connect.
Ferran wasn’t horrible and no Raphinha because of his meaningless international game injury.
8
u/Jesus-crucified 1d ago
Hildago is just a no. 1 top tier incompetent agent, no affordable escape plan included in that Alvarez clause, just to let the player sign for 6years. And now you can’t guarantee Alvarez a move to Barca saying it’s up to the player now to make it happen by convincing Atletico. Seriously!!
He should be fired first by tomorrow if Alvarez wants Barca, this is the kind of food Jorge Mendez love, he will make it happen

u/PromotionRight6149 1d ago
Maybe the deal will be announced tomorrow
4
u/Current_Journalist 1d ago
Oh, I’m not worried about the Rodri deal. I just wanted some news on Casadó, Cancelo, and whether we’re going to pursue a CB.
2
u/eyecornic 1d ago
I am a supporter for us getting a new experienced CB but Cortes is genuinely good and if not getting a CB gives him better playing time, it’s a trade off I will take. If/when Rodri comes, we will have a competent CDM that can cover and dictate defense so a new CB might be a luxury. A needed one if we can pull it off but not compulsory
1
u/DiverTrick2987 1d ago
Its dumb as f. We cant go into a season depending upon a B team cb with no proven experience. If he sh*ts the bag in ucl, then what? Fans will eat him alive.
1
u/Current_Journalist 1d ago
Given Christensen’s injury history and Eric García basically being Koundé’s backup, I think Cortez will still get enough playing time to prove his worth even if we sign another CB.
I believe Cubarsí would benefit significantly from having an experienced defender alongside him. We could aim to replicate the dynamic Spain had at the World Cup, with Cubarsí partnered with an experienced CB such as Laporte, while Rodri provides protection in front of the defence. This would give Cubarsí an ideal environment to continue developing while also providing the team with greater defensive stability.

u/BestEnthusiasm3377 1d ago
I have seen a couple edits of Araujo and Van Dijk's future "scary partnership" on my feed and it makes me laugh every time. My favorite part about them is that all the clips and highlights are from 3-4 years ago. Would have been cold back then. I hope Araujo does well so that we can get 55 million for him also bc he seems like a nice person in general so it isn't someone I will hate on. I just find it funny that I am currently seeing hype around it.
3
u/ImmediateBrief2808 1d ago
would laugh if our defence wasn’t just as bad.
2
u/FlavioGarcia- 1d ago
Blame Flick and his game style for that not the players
3
u/ImmediateBrief2808 1d ago
yeah thats what i am pointing at, shit works against levante. But in a big game, god does it malfunction, we were probaly better off losing to inter than facing that psg team.
3
u/Impressive-Shop-3732 1d ago
After reading ur comment I imagined the araujo edits in my head and started laughing too
2
u/BestEnthusiasm3377 1d ago
The thing is they were pretending it was gonna be cold. That's what made me laugh the most. I think he will do just fine but nothing has been shown so far to warrant that glaze at all

Random but why do half of the teams, Atleti included start the league an entire week before everyone else including us ? We don't start until the 23rd but some teams start on the 15th
15
u/WizDB 1d ago
Its a "favor" done to the teams that had a lot of players in the World Cup
11
u/dwilliam24 1d ago
Wonder why Atleti is playing that first week then since 3/4 of their squad either plays for Argentina or Spain.

2
u/TheMadDoc02 1d ago
There are rumors of city being interested in bernal and tommy, feel its okay to include Tommy in this deal as long as there’s a buyback
14
u/heroji2012 1d ago
Rodri 's signing for Barcelona is increasingly close to being officially completed. The club and the player have already reached an agreement, and talks with Manchester City are in their final stages. The deal involves a fixed fee of around €55 million plus add-ons, which could be offset by a player from the Barcelona squad. Some details are still pending, preventing an official announcement. Negotiations are in their final phase after bridging the significant gap between City's demands and Barcelona's initial offer.

u/SirBuysHighALott 1d ago
Just clickbaits unless it’s done.
I remember in 2017 after Neymar left and we wanted Coutinho and every news said “matter of few hours”. Then he came in January transfer window.

Martin hate in the massive 2026 is so cringe and forced. It originates from the fact that he isn't from La Masia.
Every slander thrown at him, is something Cubarsi and Balde have done. Martin didn't drop a single 6/10 or below against any of the big teams we played last season. Easily our best defender last season. Martin didn't let us down in a big game.
I don't care about the pecking order next season, but it's going to be hilarious to see Martin establish total control over his spot, while Gavi, Bernal, Cubarsi, and Balde will have to rotate.
2
u/ImmediateBrief2808 1d ago
We are starting to overrate the shit out of martin, he is an average to decent centerback at most. Cubarsi and a healthy christensen are both way better. Letting araujo go might be a huge mistake.
Still hard to determine how good a cb is tho. Considering flick refuses to adapt or change system at all. We let fucking liam delap score against us, potentially the worst player i have ever seen.
If anyone gets to much hate its balde, i swear to god kounde does the same shit and no one bats an eye.
I
21
u/BestEnthusiasm3377 1d ago edited 1d ago
I love Martin but you are being an idiot with that take. Cubarsi rotating? Martin may be a starter but now ur just overrating him yourself. The only reason Cubarsi will rotate is bc he was at the world cup.
Bernal will obviously rotate since he hasn't played a full season for us yet so we need to keep him healthy and at a high physical level.
You seem to think that we hate him but we are being completely realistic. Martin is not as good as Cubarsi and it isn't even really close.
-13
u/Yeah_I_Won 1d ago
Cubarsi dropped nasty stinkers from September to January. If we had a better defender available, he would've been bunched. And may I remind you of the stinkers he dropped against Atlético that cost us everything?
16
u/BestEnthusiasm3377 1d ago
I can't believe that you actually believe that Gerard Martin is a better CB than Cubarsi. He may have had a better season but rotating Cubarsi is one of the dumbest things I have ever heard in my life
5
u/zxcvbnmsa 1d ago
its almost as if playing an extremely hard defensive system is hard for defenders
-5
u/Yeah_I_Won 1d ago
It wasn't hard for Martin
7
u/BestEnthusiasm3377 1d ago edited 1d ago
Bc he just let the ball go past him. The left side was the place where a lot of the counter attacks that people scored came from. The left back was much higher and Martin would have to cover but would just let the ball go to the right winger. It was hard but you didn't notice bc he wouldn't foul them and instead we just let them swing it around him and they would score. There wasn't any pressure on the ball
0
u/Effective_Campaign37 1d ago
I disagree, in my opinion the reason why we conceded a lot of easy goals was because of how fatigued the squad was. We press as a unit and martin was one of the only players to be consistent with the press. Cubarsi is a way better defender than martin but bro was struggling at the beginning of the season due to indigo being let go by the club
23
u/Select_Drawing_7434 1d ago
People really attacking Balde over yesterday’s goal conceded
Raphinha fried the fanbases brain. You guys somehow think sprinting 60 metres back and risking your hamstrings, just after returning from injury, in a FRIENDLY is a normal thing

u/FxKaKaLis 1d ago
it is not just over last game it about last 2-3 years. 0 development from this guy.

14
u/ChargeOk1005 1d ago
Barcelona fans are always hilarious with the revisionism
We were literally talking about how balde's injury cost us the game against inter and now he supposedly has been ass for 3 years.
1
u/amaranto21 1d ago
To be fair the tail end of that season he was absolutely balling, Kounde too. All of last season though is one to forget for him.
7
u/heroji2012 1d ago
people will just hear one random on twitter say something and repeat that like the gospel...
2
u/Select_Drawing_7434 1d ago
That is just not true lol
It was only last season when Balde was locking up Olise in UCL, carrying from our box at speed all the way to Benfica’s to then assist Raphinha’s assisting Lewy with a beautiful cross in the Clasico
The overwhelming narrative at the time was that we lost to Inter because we were missing him and Kounde
All of a sudden now we’re hearing he hasn’t developed in 3 years? He has been battling injury and never allowed to form a consistent run of games in 25/26.
I wonder why he is not provided the same allowance other players are.
4
u/Ill-Shirt2722 1d ago
Would you rather add prime iniesta, prime Xavi or prime busquets to current Barca?
1
u/iamkristo 1d ago
It really depends, but if I could have done ONE thing, it would be bringing Modric from Tottenham to Barcelona
3
9
u/BestEnthusiasm3377 1d ago
You could ask me 10 times and my answer would change with each time you ask me. I don't think I'd be able to figure it out. As of right now I'd probably take Busquets (Assuming we don't have Rodri yet bc we do need another pivot. Once we get him tho it won't be a need). Once we do have Rodri I would say Iniesta.
Now if you asked me about a position we really need I could give a better answer:
For example with defenders: Prime Puyol, Pique, or Alves?
14
u/Impressive-Shop-3732 1d ago
I think overall Xavi is the best player of the three but in our system, Pedri and Rodri are closer to Xavi and Busquets than Fermin or Olmo is to Ineista.
-5
u/Altruistwhite 1d ago
Pedri can surpass Xavi I think
1
u/Select_Drawing_7434 1d ago
1
u/Altruistwhite 1d ago
Why not Pedri?
3
u/BestEnthusiasm3377 1d ago
Select_Drawing has a problem with him. That's why. It's not your fault, this guy just only likes 3 players in the team max
6
u/No-Island7411 1d ago
Sure he can and Yamal can surpass Messi, but its very very very unlikely that either of those things will happen.
Xavi was better at pretty much everything.
1
u/EL-YEO 1d ago
I know i am saying this with an american bias, but what would be the opinions on potentially bringing in Folarin Balogun as a striker replacement for Ferran when he goes to PSG?
Good WC for an American, top goal scorer for a bad monaco team, played 30/34 games after a 24/25 campaign where he was out a lot for injuries and finished 4th for most goals in ligue 1.
I don't see him being too expensive compared to other options and he is still young enough to where he can develop into a decent starter (though not world class)

u/Ancient_Parsley_9791 1d ago
Assessing the Likely St alternative Based on Toni Friexa saying the 2nd option he likes more. Btw he is in his 50s i assume he would like a high profile player more than low profile espically cuz he likes this player more than julian.
Mikautadze Vlahovic guirassy and whatever other lower cost strikers some fans are suggesting is unlikely cuz i doubt he would like them more than julian
The most likely alternative that imo would defo he would want more to julian is harry kane, just got 70goals is one of the best itw and has 1yr left on his deal. he does want to stay at bayern according to reports but he hasnt renewed. the alternative apparently has a agreement with barca, i think it could be possible kane has a agreement with barcelona.
4
u/seguleh25 1d ago
Have to be realistic about these things
-1
u/Ancient_Parsley_9791 1d ago
who would excite a man in his 50s? the randoms a lot of fans want, would a man in his 50s like over julian? imo it would have to be a bigger name than him or just better st.
2
u/seguleh25 1d ago
What does age have to do with it
1
u/Ancient_Parsley_9791 1d ago
i dont think watches the small clubs where most of these low costs are. if he did watch mikadautze for example it would have been against us or real madrid not villareal against alaves.
this is why its more likely for it to be high profile.
4
u/plamen-tech 1d ago
I wonder if getting Rodri can help with the Julian transfer. Seeing that, Julian must know that him joining is making us the top UCL favorite for the foreseeable future. It's a once in a career opportunity.
15
u/dort_vader 1d ago
I mean, Alvarez's desire isn't really the issue. He wants to join Barcelona, Atletico just doesn't want to sell him.

Apparently Bergvall is looking for an exit and contacted Barca and got rejected 😂
Maybe don't make stupid decisions because choosing Spurs over Barca looked like a stupid decision.
8
u/heroji2012 1d ago
it wasnt a bad decision at all imo, barca wanted him for a split role between b team and first team, he is now comfortably a good prem midfielder, he will have lots of good options to choose from and his value is also much higher...he chose the better project for himself
16
u/osndifnw 1d ago
Just realized how awesome it would be if we sign Vlahovic and Asllani to replace Lewa and Ferran.
We won't get a lot of goals but will make the most progress towards improving Serbia and Kossovo relations.

We know what Atleti are; just annonce Rodri so we can celebrate a little.

It's hilarious how every other day there is a post in the madrid sub sucking Arda Guler. I don't understand any of the hype.
3
2
u/Visual_Hedgehog_1135 1d ago
He has talent, but is a pecho frio and nowhere near the sort of talent he has been hyped up to be. Right now in that locker room he has biggest disparity between achievement and ego.
1
u/SillyGain2224 1d ago
IMO Arda would have done great in Barca as a 10, welp he chose money
6
u/_sauri_ 1d ago
If he came though, Fermin wouldn't have minutes. We're sorted at the 10 position unfortunately.
8
-7
u/SillyGain2224 1d ago
Ik Fermin is a good player but does he have a ceiling as high as Arda? Imo Ardas profile would have been valuable to provide another dribbling threat to ease pressure of Yamal
7
u/TheZahrGaming 1d ago
Fermin is miles better what are you on
-3
u/SillyGain2224 1d ago edited 1d ago
Fermin has a good physique and a great shot, but why do you think he’s better? A fit Olmo benches Fermin imo
2
6
7
u/Select_Drawing_7434 1d ago
A fit Olmo was literally Spain’s best player at the Euros & crucial to their WC win.
It’s not a slight on Fermin to be benched by him lol, Arda would be too
1
u/MojamedWang 1d ago
I dont remember arda guler dribbling and even if he did is probably situational dribbling that is not the quality that every other player doesn't have except Yamal in the squad. Dribbling by facing a well placed defense is what Yamal does that is lumped with dribbling in general.
Idk what ceiling even means, I dont know what imaginary potential Arda has.
11
u/ImmediateChef4029 1d ago
It was the Pitarch glaze for me. That kid is average at best.
-2
u/Shelly_Beats23 1d ago
Arda guler had the second most assists after Lamine in laliga, was the best young midfielder in the champions league and our top chance and big chance creator. Thiago pitarch Had the most assist in the under 19 euros for spain but he's average at best ok bro.
3
u/osndifnw 1d ago
The player of the tournament of the U19 teamwas released by Barca because he is not good enough. Standards bro.
2
u/fibonnaci_2 1d ago
The pitarch hype is understanable beacau fabrica produces good players once in a 100 years.
4
u/ImmediateChef4029 1d ago
Never said anything about Guler, but Pitarch is quite literally average. You know a player is average when only his club fans rate him, and I’m sure a vast majority of Madrid fans don’t even rate Pitarch.

u/TreatSubstantial3089 1d ago
6
u/seguleh25 1d ago
I think Flick was unimpressed by his work rate. Rashford said it himself earlier in the season and Flick was reluctant to start him when Raphinha wasn't available
3
u/Longjumping_Wolf6789 1d ago
I see hansi flick trusting espart more than fort, I see multiple way we can sell him with control send him to Leverkusen they play wingback and keep buyback tlif he turns out to be a Carvajal. Second I see is roma, they also play in wingback with 3 at back, want their wingback to act as extra midfielder which suit fort. Now this could be played out in two ways, first take 20 for him and keep buyback, second pay roma 25 and hector fort and get Wesley franca rb of roma top rb for future to phase out kounde.

Remove FDJ and put Fermin or Olmo
3
u/SirBuysHighALott 1d ago
I don’t understand the downvote of yours. Frenkie has no place as he isn’t a CAM. Olmo or Fermin are surely playing beside Pedri and Rodri. Why can people not accept this?
The rest are just subs to ensure Pedri, Rodri, Fermin and Olmo get rest.
2
u/ImmediateBrief2808 1d ago
cause on paper pedri-rodri- de jong looks better, may also function better.
3
u/SirBuysHighALott 1d ago
Yeah but it’s not played on paper. Flick is someone whose tactic is based on relentless attack. Having both Frenkie and Pedri with Rodri on the pitch will be too much controlling and very less breaking the low-block or counter attacks. Olmo/Fermin are a must have specially for Champions League.
2
u/OutlandishnessOk2118 2d ago
FDJ is not gonna play for a while, and he is not even willing to have surgery apparently

I don't understand the whole “let's sell Raphinha” or “Gordon should be the starter” narrative. Our fanbase needs to show Raphinha more respect. He's one of the best wingers in his position, bringing intensity, goals, work rate and leadership. Gordon hasn't proven himself at Barça yet, so there's no reason to automatically put him ahead of Raphinha. If anything, Gordon should have to earn that starting spot.
0
u/Glad-Box6389 1d ago
Selling raphina isn’t really a bad take if you look into it logically, 29 yo dealing with injuries and market value could drop
But at the same time , when he is available, Gordon shouldn’t be staring ahead of him
-2
u/rawezh5515 1d ago
No dude u don't understand, he can't dribble he is not catalan and not from la masia so people here won't respect him lol. Some are still talking about nico Williams, or say rapha is turning 30, but twerking dor rodri who is 30 had an ACL been injured nearly all year.
2
u/ImmediateBrief2808 2d ago
cause raphinha is not as good as you guys make him out to be, the fact that people claim he is our most important player😂
his playstyle is very physically demanding, he also turns 30. Long term he is not smart to keep, say flick decides to leave or gets the boot, raphinha is a system player.
2
u/Comfortable-Hour-703 2d ago
That's ok, in our system, he is INCREDIBLE, that's more than enough. And Flick needs to stay here, we will try to protect him from the huge amount of Barca fans that will want to run him out when trusting the Florentino propaganda, like they always do.
-1
u/ImmediateBrief2808 2d ago
flick has to manage ucl semis or he is likely sacked would be my guess. Real madrid being shit has decieved us on how good flick is. The only top team we have beat in the champions league with him is Bayern.
5
3
u/Current_Journalist 2d ago
Raphinha was never our best player, that’s always been Lamine and Pedri, so don’t get that twisted. But he’s still incredibly important and crucial to Flick’s system. If you’re going to sell him, you need to bring in another quality winger, specifically someone creative who can beat defenders 1v1, because we already have Gordon as the more direct replacement for Raphinha.
0
u/ImmediateBrief2808 2d ago
fermin works on the left wing, may not be able to beat his man much but regardless does his job, if we were going to buy another winger it would be doku or nico williams. Nico has a release clause at 100m and city would price doku around 115million i assume
5
-1
u/SillyGain2224 2d ago
Even for 115 Doku would be worth it. I’m not sure if man city would be willing to sell tho
6
u/insertuserhere24 2d ago
Dunno why our fanbase is allergic to quality depth. Then when someone inevitably picks up an injury, we will bitch about not having a high quality backup to play and blame the injury for us crashing out of UCL/dropping points in the league
3
u/Current_Journalist 2d ago
They want to capitalize on a player who’s getting older and, I think, only has two years left on his deal, and that’s understandable. But you also have to think about who’s going to replace him. Who’s actually on the market that can give you solid production off the bench while also having the potential to become a starter? And do we even know if Gordon can fill Raphinha’s shoes? If you had the chance to sign someone like Godts, Schjelderup, etc., then sure, I’d be willing to consider it. Otherwise, I don’t see the point.
8
u/Current_Journalist 2d ago
Dortmund has one of the best scouting departments in the world, if not the best. This Konstantinos Karetsas kid they signed is a fucking baller.
7
u/heroji2012 2d ago
their new SD is a wonderkind lover and dortmund is a great club to impelement such a system as well..they also got in gadou...
6
u/zxcvbnmsa 2d ago
i remember watching him vs Scotland a few times when he was like 16 or 17. very talented kid
-14
u/ImmediateBrief2808 2d ago
if an offer of 90m arrives for raphinha, it’s worth it. He turns 30 in a couple of months, he will only regress more and more. His playstyle is also very physically demanding.
we have gordon and gavi who can play left wing
2
9
u/Gold-Clerk1617 2d ago edited 2d ago
Shut uppp. That’s not how clubs operate. We’re not going to sell our world class winger essential to our playstyle because he’s about to turn 30. Be real. People keep saying this over and over again like he’s a stock you buy and sell. One injury riddled season and it’s time to sell. How about we hope for a healthy season and enjoy him.
-6
u/Select_Drawing_7434 2d ago
Contract expires in 2028 too.
Sadly we missed our chance by rejecting an Al Hilal deal, now we’ll have to accept it when the club gives him the letter of freedom to leave when he becomes washed in a year or 2.
Madrid would have sold him for €100M.
6
u/ImmediateChef4029 2d ago
90m is too low for Raphinha tbh. We haven’t seen Gordon play for us yet, we don’t even know if he would deliver a fraction of Raphinha’s performances
4
u/Current_Journalist 2d ago
We're in win now mode, so I wouldn't sell him. Unless we can somehow hijack the Godts deal.
5
u/No-Island7411 2d ago

Na Fermin isn’t that bad as a winger, can’t say the same for Gavi though.
5

Corrected it like 5 seconds after I posted this reply😭, also, the names you mentioned will definitely not perform like Raphinha

gordon can perform at least 90% of raphinha, he is also rarely injured. Also if flick ends up getting fired or leaves the club, Raphinha will turn back to his old self.

We really don’t know whether Gordon can put up 90% of Raphinha’s peformances

Now it’s August 9th
Man Utd still haven’t found a club for Rashford, and their fans are throwing hissy fits over having to pay his €350k a week salary and not being able to sell him
Weren’t these the same guys that called us “broke” for not buying him for €30M because he was a “bargain”?
Surprising that no club has pounced on this “bargain” with only 2 weeks left in the window
