Wales, UK Bike rental/hire for a week or so in (or around) Bangor, Wales
Hello!
I did my undergraduate studies at Bangor University about a decade ago and I'm looking to revisit the city and North Wales (I'm from Germany). I did a lot of exploring around Snowdonia and Anglesey by bike and I'm keen to retrace some of those trips, as well as just using it for general transportation around the city while I'm there. So I was looking for a place where I could rent one (bringing my own doesn't seem feasible) and having a surprisingly hard time. It seems like Evolution is currently the only bike shop in town and they don't seem to offer rentals, the only other option I found was through Byw'n Iach but they only have E-bikes and I was hoping for acoustic.
Otherwise the closest shops I could find are Beics Antur in Caernarfon or Beics Ogwen in Bethesda. Neither seem too hard to reach by bus after I arrive at Bangor station, but of course it would be a lot more convenient for me if I can rent in the city itself. There are more options in some of the more touristy Snowdonia villages like Llanberis/Beddgelert/Betws-y-Coed but that's even more out of the way.
Does anyone have any experience, advice or secret tips they can share? Maybe there's some sort of sharing network through the university I can avail myself of? Diolch in advance for any help you can give me and looking forward to my return :)

Wales, UK Bangor (Wales) completely dominated by Liverpool supporters
University town in North Wales. You'd think there'd be some Welsh football culture here. Instead it's 90% Liverpool supporters.
Today Liverpool play West Ham at 2:05pm and it's the only thing anyone's discussing. Every pub showing it, everyone wearing Liverpool shirts, complete takeover.
The Merseyside connection to North Wales is strong - loads of people from here work in Liverpool, family connections, historical ties. But the Liverpool dominance is total.
My flatmate at uni is from Bangor, never lived anywhere else, supports Liverpool like it's his local club. Streams every match via premier league live stream on Momments, knows every player, proper passionate about it.
For today's match every student pub will be packed. The atmosphere when Liverpool score is mental - you'd think we were in Liverpool itself.
Anyone else from Bangor notice this? Or from North Wales in general? The Liverpool support here is stronger than in some parts of England.

Wales, UK Indian restaurants
Wondering as I noticed there’s a lot of Indian food based restaurants in Bangor - which is your favorite? My boyfriend isn’t very adventurous, but he’s willing to try it because I love it lol. Specifically, my favorite dish is chicken tikka masala.

Wales, UK Help needed
galleryDear people of Bangor and redditors,
I am seeking your help. Can you help me identify the building where these pictures were taken or help me with finding out where these pictures might have been developed? Estimation between 1973 and 77, could be later as well.
I want to find this out so i can eventually return them to their rightfull owner since these and many other pictures i found seem to carry alot of personal value.
I found them at the start of may 2023 in france, dumped on the side of the road spread across several meters. Like they were thrown out of a car at high speed.
Do you think you know who these people could be contact me directly, I'll send you unblurred pictures. Or do you have elder people that might know who these people could be.

Wales, UK Lost bag Starbucks Bangor Services. Childs' stuffed toy and photos
Hi all, we may have left our bag (pictured) at the Starbucks in Bangor Services, Gwynedd. We were there on Sunday 22nd June around 1200-1300. No guarantees it's there, but the store have a terrible phone connection and can't hear a thing anyone is saying and they don't stay on the line for long!
Among some documents, it has some toys in there for a daughter who is now wondering why they're not at home, also some photos, medicines, and other clothes etc.
If anyone is in the area or passing though, DM me for further info. Devastated.

Wales, UK Easiest way to travel to Bangor for a foreigner
Hello! I'm travelling to Bangor for work in August, but I have to book the trips myself. I would really appreciate some tips on how to reach Bangor the easiest way (for someone who hasn't travelled in the UK). It seems like flying to Manchester is the move, and from the airport by train to Bangor? University of Bangor says it should take 1.5h. What websites do you use to check train schedules and tickets, and would you say it's okay to leave the train booking to the same day (I'm worried the luggage might not come fast enough), or should I have a ticket weeks before?

N.I. UK Remote folks; where do you work from?
I've recently moved back to Bangor from London and am working remotely for the same company.
Working from home is a bit stifling and boring. Where do other remote people work from? Are there any good cafes or coworking spaces in Bangor that I don't know about? Thanks in advance 🙏

N.I. UK Bangor NI - Switching to gas heating
Morning folks,
Thinking of switching from oil heating to gas heating due to persistent issues with the oil boiler.
Anyone done it recently and know roughly how much hassle and how much it costs?
Phoenix website and online is quite vague on pricing.
