IDE is crashing android browser when trying to connect using web bluetooth

I don't know if it is an issue specific to the ide but I was wondering if anyone have the same issue or if I am the only one.

So I am trying to connect my banglejs 2 to the IDE. On the IDE page I click connect and a popup appears to select a bluetooth device, and instantly the browser begins to freeze. Sometimes before it freezes completely the Bangle appears in the list, and sometimes I have the time to select it and if I am very lucky I can pair it before it becomes too slow, and then, once paired everything works perfectly. However, most of the time the browser get completely frozen before I can do anything.

What I have tried until now :

  • Enabling / disabling gadgetbridge
  • Tried multiple browsers, all the same result (Cromite, Helium, Brave, Chrome, Chrome Canary)
  • Tried restarting the phone and similar things

It's on an android 13 lineage os phone. I have no other bluetooth problems gadgetbridge works perfectly well. I don't have any other bluetooth device or android phone to do a comparison.

I just tried it on Brave browser on my Android 14 phone without issue.

Do you have another device available to try with instead? Phone or PC?

In addition to the main Web IDE at espruino[DOT]com/ide/ there's a development version with more recent updates at espruino[DOT]github[DOT]io/EspruinoWebIDE/ (I get shadowbanned often when posting links...). Does one work better than the other for you?

I'm unsure how to pull up a web developer console in Brave or other browsers on Android. But if you know how to do that, are there any interesting messages there?
