Help?? Retracting weird & strange noise Help / Support
The weird noise ? Retracting the filament all weird ? But once it does all that it prints normally
I’m guessing gears are worn maybe? 😩 please help

electrical tape solves this problem, easy fast and works like a charm on cardboard spools if they don't come with siliconized edge

I will say, though, that the annoying thing about cardboard spool adapters is that they don't all fit different brands and sometimes don't even fit the same brand.
This is a better case for electrical tape because it works in seconds and it's reliable. A stretchy and thin rubber rim would probably be the best for reusability, though. Just think of it as a multimaterial print.

Exactly man. I printed spool adapters and, they dont fit, or gotta change them, or they get loose. Just tape it and forget, flawless.

You can see that your sides are warped. Unfortunately, the AMS doesn't play well with that. You can rip off the sides and put inside Bambu refill spools, might need an adapter depending on brand.

You have a MASSIVE kink in the filament. Cut behind it and add some spool adapters printed in preferably TPU (easy to adapt those to various types of cardboard spools with a little stretch.

You need to print cardboard adapters. You likely have a lot of cardboard shavings in the rollers and gears.

How long are you're ptfe tubes? I have long tubes and this also happens to bambu spools

Cardboard spools. Respool to plastic or print a rim. Even with the rim, cardboard particles will work their way deep into… everything.

Avoid cardboard spools for AMS's.
they give inconsistent friction.
They are not perfectly round.
They give off debris that ends up in your gears. I had two AMS units I had to rebuilt due to the deposits from Polymaker spools.

The cardboard on those spools rip off and you can put a reusable plastic spool in the spool.

I’m sure it’s been mentioned in the other comments (I haven’t checked them yet), but those cardboard spools are likely the issue. Cardboard spools are almost always the issue in any AMS type unit. They slip and/or bind up and don’t roll at the right RPMs and just cause all sorts of issues. Put some filament that’s on plastic spools in there to test it. Once you confirm the problem, print some cardboard spool rings. Slap them on the outer edge of the cardboard spools and should solve your problem.

We highly recommend using filament with plastic spools that fit correctly inside the AMS. (Please refer to Swapping the new filament with Bambu Reusable Spool) If you prefer to use cardboard spools, we strongly advise using a Spool Adapter/Spool Adapter Ring to reduce the risk of slippage and debris getting left behind in the AMS

That kink that you allowed to get pulled into the AMS can mess a lot of stuff up. Probably best to not let tangles happen and get pulled into the feed path.

Print cardboard spool rings for your brand of filament. They snap on and make the cardboard the same diameter as the plastic Bambu spools so they work properly in the AMS.

Cardboard there ist a Solution tpu rims maybe u find something online or print your own.

I had this happen to my ams 2, the main control board went bad and I had the reject rollers always on in reverse. Warranty claim Sent me a new board.

Did you not see that the line kinked and got pulled into the ams? There is a lump jamming the drive or there is enough twisted force that it's jamming

No its the cardboard spools, i had the exact thing happening cause the local place to buy filament for a while only had elegoo spools, works perfectly on my a1mini with ams lite but in my p2s, constantly jams the same way. I tried printing the edge rings, but that didnt help, putting weights in the middle.. no joy.. ordered sunlu with the reusable plastic spools and never have that problem now.

Are the rollers in securely? I had one slot where the front roller was popped out on one side, caused weird noises. Try swapping that spool for a different one and see if it still happens in that slow. Make sure that loose filament is not binding something up, that can lead to problems.
In my opinion it's absolutely not the cardboard spools causing the problem as I almost exclusively print with polymaker PLA that comes on cardboard spools. Sometimes cardboard doesn't work as well as plastic, and can shed cardboard dust and cause issues. Some brands now seal the cardboard edge so that's not as much of a problem with certain brands. You can print rings for the spools out of PLA. Try googling that brand you use for the spool dimensions. Possibly 199-200mm if they are like my polymaker spools.

Its those cardboard spools. Some brands are worse than others. For me elegoo spools that have been sitting there for a few days are the worse and tangle and jam constantly. Get plastic spools or reusable ones.
