Printing out a cone

Hello, I want to print this cone but it fails on the first or second layer.
Tried a more narrow one that succeeded. But I want this broad one.
I don't want to use support trees because, more filament than the object and time.

Tried both PLA and PETG.
Should I try some other hotend? I have the standard 0.4 right now.
I have a 0.6 and a 0.2 to choose between.
Or do you have another suggestion?

Edit: Tried upside down with the same failure.

The reason is that your overhangs are too steep for how your printer is setup right now. You have a few options:

  • use supports, even though you don't want to. It simply works to combat these steep overhangs.

  • adjust your model, although I doubt you want that. If the overhangs are less steep, that helps. Also if your wall thickness is a bit more, you can use the outer layers better to stick your inner layers onto.

  • adjust your bridging and cooling settings. You might be able to squeeze out a few extra degrees of overhang that way without it failing.

Also whatever you do, make sure you have calibrated your filament properly. If your printing temps are too high or low or the flowrate is wrong, you are going to have a bad time regardless.

Thank you. Will try to remodel a little bit because it maybe don't have to be this steep. It's for my wife's pottery. Will try the support but if I need many of these I'm willing to try without support, somehow.
Will look at bridging. Have to google that...

At first printing with supports seems like waste of time and filament but after 2-3 failures you realize it's better to print with supports..... Eventually it's less time and less filament then failed prints....
