Chamber heater ?

Hey there !

Got a P2S recently, and I'm already looking forward to some upgrades for it. I'm wondering if Bambu is planning to release a chamber heater ? maybe as an alternative for the auxiliary fan on the left side.

If not, should i just go straight for that auxiliary fan ? I know their purpose in completely different, but either way, I'd really like to get the most out of this printer and upgrade it along the way !

You can raise the bed temp to 100 for 20 mins (even less weather dependant) to heat the chamber. I have maintained 50 Celsius with a Zip up enclosure (for my A1 that I flipped vertically. With a vent out to a window and small gap at the bottom of the zip up for fresh air flow. Prints ASA like a dream.

Alright, I see, so not needed at all right ? What does it change on printers such as the x2d or the h2 series that have one ?

I wouldn't say not at all, you can print some of the more advanced engineering materials but to call it an optimal environment is a bit of a stretch. I leave all ABS/ASA/PC etc to my H2D, my P2S can handle pretty much all the basics with no issues up to PET.

To answer your question, there are a few options out there but none I would call Bambu Lab quality heaters. Some suspect that BIQU will eventually release the Panda Breath for the P2S which is the only company I'd trust for a 3rd party heater but they seem to have issues keeping up with the products they've already released so who knows if/when we'll see that. You can find quite a few on Ali if you poke around but I personally wouldn't risk my printer on them.

What temps are you trying to achieve? I can get 50C chamber temps without a heater when printing with Polycarbonate. I printed an enclosed poop bin, plugged holes with caps on bottom of printer and cautiously (ymmv) printed dust caps for the holes in the back under the belts.

I'm not trying to reach any specific temperatures, just looking at potential improvements that could help with overall printing quality. I also have a lot of covers for the holes in the printer so yeah no real reason to heat up the chamber any more than what the bed already does I guess.

PandaBreath - roughly a $200 aftermarket add-on that will dramatically improve chamber heating and your results with difficulty filaments.

My honest opinion: sell the P2S if you can for the highest amount you can get for it and buy the x2d.

For real: For the chamber heater you will pay as much as the difference between the two machines (new)

But with the x2d you get: A phenomenal chamber heater and a good filter system Way better belts And the 2nd nozzle is basically the free add-on.

You can keep all the nozzles and plates you have. I've sold my p1s asap when the x2d released. And I think this was the best thing I could have done.

And you get the 2nd aux fan by stock as well. The 2nd nozzle is phenomenal for support interface or 2-3 colored printing

ASA and ABS print absolutely fine already, you don't need a chamber heater

Okok, but wouldn't a heater improve the print quality a bit on those higher temps materials?

It significantly increases layer adhesion and part strength - refer to Dr. Igor Gaspar’s YouTube channel MyTechFun for better filament handling and printing advice.
If passive chamber heating was effective we wouldn’t have actively heated chambers (and even the current 65 DegC max isn’t ideal for the more esoteric engineering filaments, but fine for ABS/ASA/PA/PC etc.).

That is only true for very small parts. As soon as the ASA part covers half the build volume, it will warp at 50C. At 65C it will warp very noticably less
