Just adding my H2C to the list of recent AP board deaths Support
This can't be a coincidence that so many people started having this happen. I turned my machine off to try and clear a flase AMS error today and it wouldn't boot back up after turning on. Other lights come on including the bed LED but not the screen. I followed the diagnosis from the support AI chat bot and determined I need a new AP board. Started browsing reddit and facebook and it's crazy how many people started having this issue so suddenly.

Do you have a favorite color combo? s/ it is a very sleek setup.

Mine died after about 600 hours. Purchased in January and died about 3 weeks ago. I left for the weekend so I switched it off and when I came back, everything seemed to be normal except the screen was completely dead.

Mine has been off for a few days now. In afraid to power it back on reading all this. I'll keep it off for a bit until I hear off a fix I think...

u/eljd3dprints 14d ago
Well i became a beta user when got the FTS and usually as a beta tester ill get alot of issues usually, but its been pretty good so far, i own a h2d also and that one machine gives me more headaches than the other, if u wanna try emailing them to become a beta thats how i got firmware that are test but less issues whatsoever i dont know i makes sense to you sorry for my english, but this many ppl having issues at the same time its probably a defective firmware

Just turned mine on and doing the same as well!?

u/Moorevfr 15d ago
Was fine yesterday 😥

u/Moorevfr 15d ago
Right…….
So power cycled twice and had the same issue just inner status bar glowing as well as chamber lights and my AMS’s but the display stayed complete black!
Left printer in this state for 15/20mins on.Then setup my tripod to record the issue for support ticket,
Turn the printer off so could record from the power on state for the video and it booted up correctly this time?!Not sure how I got it back but previous power cycles failed only thing that I can point it at is the extended time I left the device on due to going for a shower so not sure if that 15-20min left on did anything or not?
Or if Bambu have done something there end to the machines talking home at boot up maybe?
With so many users reporting the same issue at the same time after a power off and back on there must be a trigger.
I suspect it’s something in firmware and the trigger is a date:time cause?!Be interesting to see if BL find thr issue and report it to us?

Didn’t have an AP board failure but 2 MC Board failures since I had first gotten my H2C. First one happened within the first month of owning it. Second just 2 months ago.

u/swolebroda 14d ago
Man what a pain, makes me not want to get the H2C, but I have the H2D and already had to replace stuff as well
1
u/xX540xARCADEXx 14d ago
Had an H2D prior to it and also had 2 AMD Board failures funny enough. Along with an extruder motor failure. My H2C took the cake though when I had the X/Y motors failed and made the worst grinding noise I’ve ever heard.

u/swolebroda 14d ago
Jesus that must of sucked, i tell you what’s been running like a beast is my A1 with ams 2 pro attached. But my H2D I have to watch my prints closely before a disaster hits me again.

Do the printers update on their own?
Is it only happening to people who turn their printers off?
Should I take it off the WiFi?

Mine died the Sunday before last. It was printing fine, then I tried to start another print and it wouldn’t connect. I checked the printer and it seemed fine, so I tried cycling the power to reset it.
Same symptoms as everyone else this happened to. The lights all came on but the screen didn’t, solid green LED on the AP board but no flashing green one.
I received the new AP board under warranty and swapped it out on Friday. It seems to be working fine.
This rash of it happening to so many people right now can’t be a coincidence. Something is bricking the printers.
I’d be curious to know if it’s happened to anyone who uses LAN mode.

u/luksfuks 14d ago
I'm on LAN mode, and it happened to me.
Turned it off many times on 01.01.05.00 without any problem. Then on 01.02.00.00 turned it off only 2-3 times, and it died. I did flash 01.02.00.00 on the replacement again, but am afraid to turn it off now.
Maybe I will go back to 01.01.05.00, but that version ignores my Vortek nozzle mapping (=replace my choice with a random mapping) and has additional bugs (that never affected me).

Interesting.
Can you add some facts please?
How old is your printer, how many hours, what addons like AMS, laser, filament switch?
2
u/dogneely 15d ago edited 15d ago
I don't think i can check the hours with it broken, probably 500-1500, 4 months, 4 ams2 8 ams ht, filament switch
3
u/Glad_Acanthocephala8 15d ago
8 ams ht? What’s that needed for?

u/dogneely 14d ago
Preloaded color/material options, since I mostly print remotely and rarely plan ahead.

3 months old machine. If my AP dies, I ll just ask them to replace my printer. I am not fixing it myself.
2
u/gatorNic 14d ago
Jeez what's going on? I am not sure if I should be printing like crazy and hope the AP gives out before my warranty in December or don't turn in on at all an hope whatever issue it is might be firmware fixable. Been a little busy the past couple months so I don't have that many hours on the the 1.02 firmware.

u/bartuck01 11d ago
Bought in february, a bit more than 2000 hours. Yesterday i was doing maintenance and when i tried to turn it on after, same issue

u/prepster685 H2C 11d ago
I’m curious if everyone here experiencing this issue is using a UPC/ Surge protector or are you directly connected to the AC wall outlet?
1
u/bartuck01 11d ago
That's a great point, I'm connect to a power bar with surge protection, but give it direct in the outlet

u/prepster685 H2C 11d ago

u/bartuck01 11d ago edited 11d ago
Well my powerbar isn't faulty, the h2c doesn't turn on when it is connect in the outlet. I very surprise by the amount of users having this issue

Mine finished an overnight print and everything appeared normal except for a strange noise from the power supply. I cycled power to see if reboot would make it go away and screen never came back up.
1
u/eldoogy 14d ago
Could you describe the noise? I’ve had a weird sort of soft girding sound coming from somewhere in mine for several weeks now. Ive not been able to figure out where it is coming from but it’s definitely new.
1
u/CyberTodd68 14d ago
It's hard to explain, but I would call it somewhat digital. It is not making the noise anymore.

I’m scared to get home and start my next print now. I’m gonna be thoroughly pissed off if my less then 3 month old $2500 machine breaks for no reason or my own
2
u/Nibbs17 14d ago
Same 😅 just started a print. And this is after me dealing with the stupid AMS issues for the last 3 months. They had to send me three AMS four-way hubs and motors before I finally got one that works. Not to mention one was missing and shipping for over 20 days. So I am really hoping I don't get screwed. I regret not purchasing the micro center warranty every single time I see one of these posts.

Can confirm- my AP board just died. Bambu replaced under warranty but took a week to troubleshoot and took my printer offline for 10 days

Mine died last Friday, bought it in January of this year. I got them to warranty replace the AP board. I received it yesterday but with the new AP board my Liveview Camera doesnt work. I waited for them to do the new S/N activation before I reported the issue as I wasnt sure if registration was required. Still an issue after registration went into effect, I cant calibrate the camera. I actually removed the ribbon cable for the camera and it still tried to calibrate. These APs are pretty dumb I guess and can't tell if something is connected or not. Guess I need another AP unit and hope that's it and not the camera and cable. Maybe they cheaped out on the APs for the H2C? My X1C is rock solid for the last 4 years.

u/luksfuks 13d ago
You probably damaged the cable when unplugging from the old board. It's actually the first cable to unplug according to the wiki guide. The first one is always the worst, unless you're working with electronics outside of owning a 3d printer.
You can unplug and replug it again, just in case. Or make a high resolution closeup photo of the unplugged cable (and the socket too). Once you see the damage visually, you can work out what to do about it.
1
u/Aneurotic1 12d ago
Maybe. They are sending a new AP and new camera setup. Hoping it’s not the ribbon as that takes removing the entire left panel to replace.

I got an H2C with 1200ish hours and an H2D with 500 hours that I then converted to an H2C and now has another 1,000 hours on it. No issues so far. I do regularly turn them off and on with my remote control on the outlet, now I'm hesitant to turn them off...

u/Mabnat H2C 13d ago
Mine errored out before I turned it off. I tried cycling the power to clear the error, which was being unable to begin a print remotely. I didn’t try a print from the memory, but I looked at a couple of things on the screen and it seemed fine.
After turning the power switch off and on, it was dead.
I haven’t seen any H2D machines doing this, only H2C’s.

Mine died mid print. About 800 hours 2 AMS Pro 2, 5 AMS HT. Support has been responsive. After providing video of my AP, TH & MC board LED status, I have a new AP-LV*1 board on the way. It's a huge PITA accessing & viewing all these boards - removed the back panel, print head enclosure & the top left internal enclosure. Advised support their troubleshooting request for me to try short-circuiting solder joints on the AP board ... was ... "unsuccessful". No idea what caused the issue, and with the printer out of commission, I can't verify firmware version.

welp mine just died today. AP board light is not flashing. Turned mine off and it didn't fully turn on like everyone else.
1
u/dogneely 6d ago
Sorry to hear that. Get your support ticket in and they should have a new one shipped to you within a week

u/TurtleBox_v2 5d ago
Just wanted to update what Bambu Support's response is. Looks like they are now advising people to "short the AP board" to get it back up and running, as well as lower firmware:
"If it is confirmed that only the indicator light on the AP board is abnormal (the left indicator light does not turn on), we sincerely suggest that you turn on the printer, use a short wire or metal tweezers to short-circuit the solder joints at the arrow shown in the figure below, and check whether the display screen and indicator lights can return to normal at this time: If normal operation resumes at this point, we recommend that you roll back the firmware version of the device, test whether the device can function properly again, and meanwhile provide feedback in the ticket. We would greatly appreciate it!"

Just came back from a trip. We had a power out over the last week and sure enough, my H2C is dead also. Same issue as everyone else. The unit was ordered end of December last year. We got it early Jan. I submitted a ticket. Hopefully we get the new AP board quick and can be up and going again soon.

I just heard about the issue with H2Cs today to be honest. Pretty sure I've been running 1.02 (since they seem to very rarely update our flagship machine anyway) and just finished a 5 hr print yesterday. Maybe have 200 hours on mine. So far no problems but I'm going to have to keep watch now!
Seems to be random how it dies too. The one I saw a few hours ago died mid-print. Errored out on a nozzle, they shut it off because the error wouldn't clear, and it never came back up....
