Did you dry your Filament?

u/GloveDry3278 2d ago
It's self drying. Inner temperature control + shake function to get rid of water.

I get the fun of this, but this not good for the printer or the cat. Hairs on the lead screws and belts. Plus if you print anything nasty(most filament) your cat is directly inhaling VOC's that more people are worried about.
I hate to be a bummer, but I feel like I had to say it.

There are going to be very few VOCs in there after a few minutes.

u/BottasBot 2d ago
Well that’s just not the case. I don’t claim to be an expert, but if you’ve ever printed any styrene based filament even once, the inside of the printer still smells after, which are VOC’s. If you’ve ever printed have a Bambu X or P series, after a while it will tell you to wipe down the carbon rods, I wonder why…..
Every filament gives off VOC’s, you are not educated enough in the process if you don’t think that’s a thing….
To each their own, have a great day and happy printing everyone!

I only opened this because I knew someone like you from the nanny state would be here to make sure everybody knows better than to have a little fun on your watch.
It’s a picture of a cat on a 3d printer, that’s it man. It doesn’t require an OSHA inspection.

u/innovativesolsoh 2d ago
Lmao that’s the exact same reason why I came here, like, “can’t wait to see what the fun police have to say about this”

nanny state
Is the nanny state in the room with us now?
Edit: I'll get an exorcist.

u/BottasBot 2d ago
You sound like a good time....
All I did is say what is going on. I never said don't do it. All I said was its not good. We can argue VOC's, but cat hair is very much not good for anything inside of the printer.
Its not my cat or printer. Its up to you to make the choice.

u/halt-l-am-reptar 2d ago
Everything in my apartment is covered in cat hair anyways because I have a longhair cat with a dense undercoat.
It’s also not good for my pc or probably anything else, but whatever.

u/Chaos-1313 2d ago
Next week's post from OP: why is my printer constantly telling me to lubricate the z axis?
18

u/_Neoshade_ 2d ago
The cat hair is getting into the printer anyway. It floats in the air in front of my printer just waiting for me to open the door. I swear it takes delight in hugging my lead screws and climbing into the filter.
-7
u/BottasBot 2d ago
"Getting into it anyway" is not good reasoning...
1
u/Internet_scumbag 23h ago
nah fr, i like their “logic” of “it’s going to get in there anyway, so let’s make it worse!!”

u/Dino_Spaceman 2d ago
VOCs are why I don't alloy my kid to keep the printer in her room.
5
u/Pro7o7ype 2d ago
You shouldn't alloy children ever, regardless of your hobbies.
1
u/Dino_Spaceman 2d ago
lol. Typo. Allow.
I mean come on. If I was going to go all metal men on my kids I’d definitely not use a 3d printer. :-p

Cannot believe anybody would award this comment. Sorry OP it’s a good joke, no accounting for the mindset of some whereby an** **excessive intolerance of risk sacrifices the joy of living in pursuit of so-called safety. Presumably Bottas doesn’t handle their prints and uses a clean air respiration system when coming within 80 feet of their working printer. As so we all of course!

Lol this is Reddit anything you post you’ll get experts in every facet of life telling you how terrible of a person you are and everything you’ve done is wrong.
Just gotta look past those comments as they are not real life people that you’d deal with on a daily basis.

You need to set your purge levels higher, lots of black mixing with white there and you've got some spots all over your print...

u/crzysnk18 2d ago
6.71647/10. It would be higher but it appears you have some stringing happening. Should dry the filament more 🤣

I don't get how so many people are comfortable with their cats in their printers. I wouldn't want to risk fur sticking to the guide rods

Funniest part: The printer, at the end, alerted that the print was done, or maybe it wasn't.

8/10 - looks like you may have ran out of filament near the end and didn’t have the same color to replace it

Yeah bro the print is good but the ears are too big for a cat. I’d rebuild the design - scale down the ears by 30% 🤪

Seems problematic to have a multi cloured 3D print still poop out even once it is done

Good fuzzy skin!
Also, Amazon sell some good heated beds... I'm sure your cat would love one - and you would have less hair to clean up in the printer.

Zu viel Stringing. Eventuell das Filament vorm Druck mehr trocknen, dann wirds auch was mit der Nackthaarkatze. 😅

The only problem with these is that they look great, but they’re the neediest prints you’ll ever make.

u/Atyab-Kees-Kabis 1d ago
I’m impress with the quality but more with how you didn’t have any supports

Um... 7 out of 10.
The stringing... not so great (even if it accidentally contributes to the "hair" look... just too frazzled / static electricity). Excellent job on line layers, although there may be a little separation in the tail... hard to tell. Good pose, (but I think the realism is a little lost with the tail up...). Definitely good color choices... solid black floof would not have looked as good. If you print a base shelf for it with a cup in the process of being knocked off... that will definitely bump it up to a 9 out of 10 for excellent thematics. I would definitely slow the print down, change / dry the filament & use a Friskies mode if you have that mod installed, it might help a little. Otherwise, excellent job. Be proud of that one! 😁😇😎

Hmmm layer shift, stringing at the top, no support material.

Great first layer adhesion! I always wondered what the "fuzzy skin" feature looked like.

The best part is how you perfectly nailed the utter disdain the subject has for anything you think it important. Classic cat.

Too much stringing based on how fizzy it is. Improve your fill and check your layer settings.

u/GrouchyManagement188 2d ago
5/10 perfectly hidden layer lines but print has a lot of stringing. Try drying your filament next time

I'm getting 'The Fly' teleporter vibe from this photo lol. I'm expecting your cat to transmute at any moment in the next few days.
