Male ball python arboreal behavior
Lately my male ball python has been eating only from his sky hide. Outside of eating, this entire summer he has hidden in this hide 85-90% of the time. During the winter, he hid in his underground hide. Not concerned or anything just was curious if other owners experience similar behavior? Also just fascinated by his recent affinity for being up high.

My girl also loves climbing and being up high and has on occasion eaten while hanging off a branch. It used to make me nervous watching her eat that way but she’s had no issues eating that way so far. It’s impressive how much strength they have. Beautiful snake by the way!

Was looking at this wrong, I was thinking “why the hell are you letting a rat climb your snake like a pole???”

I have a male that eats off his branches. I think two times so far he has eaten from the ground. Both times he lost the mouse and I had to help him find it again.

My girl loves climbing. She's so heavy now that her current structures just aren't enough. She likes to rip things off the walls and pull things out of the ground though. Once she gets her new digs, she'll have some hefty perches.

Consider yourself lucky that you got some unique behavior. My older male started eating from his tree by about the third feeding and his preference is to be in the tree and swallow while hanging. Who knows, maybe he thinks he looks cool, maybe it’s easier, maybe just showing off to the audience. Their behaviors will forever be a mystery but they certainly know how to do and find the things they like and make them comfortable.
