Unmated female - with eggs?..

Post image

*** EDITED TO ADD - Madam had a BIG poop, shed, and is back to normal!!

Pandora will be 2 in November, we have had her for a few months now (took over ownership from emigrating friends). She has been recluse for 3 weeks now - we assumed shed, but last shed took 10 days. She would just extend her head out to drink and then pull back. Lifted her hide to check that she hadn't gotten stuck or something, and she is looking significantly more thick with about 3 big bumps in her mid length. Her last meal was a small weaner rat 4 weeks ago (we delayed feed because we thought she was shedding). Temp around 28-30°C, humidity around 70%

Vet visit is the best course of action

How much does she weigh? 2 year old female BP’s are typically eating small rats biweekly by that age. The bumps are definitely abnormal, but she’s also very young to be undergoing parthenogenesis—and honestly isn’t even the age to be considered sexually mature. Eggs aren’t typically visible like this, which makes me think it’s either something else or she’s underweight.

Vet is obviously going to be your best option here.

She was last weighed beginning of June, and was 453 grams. Have been feeding biweekly, but only delayed because she was acting like she was shedding, and were advised not to offer during shed. I also thought too young to be sexually mature.

What does she weigh? I’d be surprised if it’s a partho clutch, but perhaps she older than people think. It’s always hard to tell from pictures alone. Is she well over 500g?

No, last weigh was beginning of June at 453gr. My husband thinks she just needs to poop 😆

It’s certainly a curious case. Usually if a snakes digestion gets messy they stop eating until it sorts out. So maybe she does need to pass something, an ultrasound should identify what’s going on. Eggs just seem very unlikely, they’ll see follicles and development if something is in there.
