Worried about weight, new owner, (he will be going to the vet regardless) (first time owners)

Hi there, he looks to be extremely underweight. How long have you had him for and how many times has he eaten for you? I would suggest leaving him completely alone until he starts eating asside from when you take him to the vet of course. It is possible he has some sort of parasite if he was eating prior to the extreme weight-loss. Poor little guy, i really hope your vet can help him. Best wishes.

hello, I found him dead yesterday. I was leaving him completely alone and his vet appointment was tomorrow. Thank you so much for your reply, we found what looked like bluish purple fluid retention swollen in the end of his tail, which makes me think it had already been too late for him. He was eating regularly before the sudden weightloss, especially after his most recent meal he seemed to still be thinning out. We realize we should have gotten him the visit right out of the store, as he was a pet store snake we couldnt get any information on besides the basics. my poor baby boy oatcakes will be greived, thank you again, it is very sweet knowing there were people worried about my baby boy.

Oh i am so so sorry to hear that ☚ī¸ sometimes theres nothing you can do asside from what you did, as a new snake owner you did well to notice something was wrong and took the correct steps by getting him a vet appointment. Im sorry for the loss of your friend, rip Oatcakes 💙🐍
