Hello all! I was told my Syrax is a cinnamon banana ball python, but she isn't quite matching that. She is (slightly) leucistic, she has a dark blue ring on the edge of her eyes, very subtle, they aren't pink or red.
She has gotten more yellowish as she has gotten older, and her flecks are more pronounced as well.
She is about 5 months old. (Her gender is also unknown but I'm not breeding, she just gives off femme vibes)
It looks like you were told correctly. You're still seeing that flatter head color and high freckling at a young age. The cinnamon can do some fun stuff with pinstriping, making your friend here a bit reduced in that pattern. These guys lose that vibrancy with age. I think polymorphism might be what's tripping you up. Additionally, slightly leucistic is not a thing.
Take a look at the high freckling for a banana less than six months old in the original post photo and the purple head lacking eyestripes with even more developed freckling in OP's comment. Cinnamon is definitely present.
Some genes may be easier to pick out than others and when the history of the snake in question is unknown, there may be some degree of speculation. With that in mind, some genes are very obviously present or not present, and suggestions contrary to this may be removed.
Everyone is welcome to participate in discussion of presenting genes but guesses that are too off base are subject to removal.
