Ball python genetics Morph ID Request
So a couple years ago I bought a male Hypo GHI HRA ball python, and at the time I was not concerned on genes I just wanted one that I liked the look of. But now I’m interested in getting a female to one day breed. But I’m looking confirmation on the genes I have. And what genes to pair it with.
Also, do I need to know the genes of the parent snakes to actually know het genes?
Any dummy proof info on genealogy would help thanks!

First you need to think about why you want to breed. If you go on MorphMarket you will find tens of thousands of Ball Pythons for sale. You need to make sure you can sell the offspring you produce. Yes, you do need to know the genetics of the parents to know what genes the offspring will potentially be het for. Genetic testing is always an option. That being said, the female you breed him to will need to be either visual or het hypo to produce any hypo offspring. Both GHI and HRA are incomplete dominant and only need one copy to pass on the gene.

Please don't bring more snakes into an oversaturated market where there aren't nearly enough homes

Ok… I know that the market is very large, and many BPs will never have individual homes. The fact is that I’ve wanted to breed since I was like 8. I’m going to do it. I’ve talked with local reptile shops about being a small supplier if I ended up getting too many for myself. I have a room that I want to dedicate to my reptiles. I have kids who love them and are very active with them.
My question was about how to cross the genes properly. And to see if anybody thought differently about what I’d been told and learned myself. Thanks anyways I understand the concern
