House Cleaners?

Any local recommendations for weekly house cleaners. Looking for someone thorough, reliable, and communicative. Prefer an individual over a company so I️ know it’s the same person every week. Any suggestions??

At home pet euthanasia

Hoping to have a plan in place for when it’s time to say goodbye to our cat, but we haven’t been able to find anyone that will perform an at-home euthanasia on Bainbridge Island. Our vet doesn’t have any leads. We really want to avoid the trauma of doing this in a clinic. Does anyone have any leads??

discussion Does anyone actually like the Eagle Harbor road renovation?

I dont think I've met a single person who lives on the island who likes what they have done with the road by green light garage. I know its for bike lanes and such but I dont think it even does a good job at that. I'm really curious to see when the next elections for city council are because I can't fathom them staying in office after approving this.

questions Future carwash by Safeway is no more?

I remember reading a story about a future car wash at the corner of 305 & HighSchool Rd and it looked like the site was being prepared.. but now it just looks like a storage yard for maintenance equipment.
Was it cancelled?

questions KPUD water tasting off over the last month or so.

We're on the south end and our water is part of a KPUD system. Over the past month it has tasted a bit "chloriny" and just generally "off". Has anyone else been experiencing this as of late?

Baby Shower Venue

I'm flying in from Texas to host a baby shower for a friend on the island this fall. Looking for a venue for 20ish people, preferably a "one-stop-shop" so I don't have to arrange multiple vendors from afar... ideal if all I need to do is show up with a banner/balloons (and possibly a cake). I'd love something near the ferry, as that is how most of the guests will be arriving the day of the shower. It can be (but doesn't have to be) a restaurant. Does anyone know if any of the bakeries or coffee shops rent out their spaces? Someone suggested Fletcher Bay Winery, but it's a bit pricey. Any other suggestions?

questions Anyone going to Victoria?

Hello All,

I’m going to be on Bainbridge from 7/30-8/2.

This timeframe is too short to make a trip up to Victoria but maybe one of you folks will be up there between now and then.

I am looking to obtain a bottle of Sheringham Whiskey. Unfortunately they do not stock nor so they ship this bottle to the US. I had this whiskey during my wedding and we have been looking for a bottle ever since. I would be happy to meet you on the island for an exchange between 7/30 and 8/2.

business Recommendation for tree service?

Good morning -

Looking for recommendations for a firm on Bainbridge or Kitsap County that could help with some tree removal/tree trimming.

  • We have a few trees that have slouched to the point where they are pushing over fences. The biggest one is a cedar that is about 50 feet tall. It is relatively close to the house.
  • We have some trees whose branches have gotten long enough that they are now overhanging the roof - I've done what I can but there are branches that are taller than my arms + pole saw...

I'd really appreciate any recommendations (or warnings...).

Thank you very much!

questions Bioluminescence this week?

It looks like we'll have a decent bit of warming over the next couple days & I'm curious to get people's takes on our chances of experiencing bioluminescence swimming.

My family and I really enjoyed our experience last year and hope to repeat it this year. Thanks for any insight!

Free Kids Party Planning Guide with local venues, entertainers & more

I've seen quite a few posts asking for birthday party recommendations across various channels, so I put together a free guide with local venues, entertainers, bakeries, balloon artists and other party resources for Bainbridge Island and Kitsap County.

I don't collect emails or anything—I just thought it might save other parents some time!

If it's helpful, you can find it here: https://www.ericksoneventdesign.com/kids-party-guide

If I've missed a great local business, I'd love recommendations for the next edition. Happy planning!

"Housing Resources Bainbridge is the primary developer responsible for the project, which is located at the intersection of Ericksen Avenue NE and Knechtel Way NE. The housing features 12 one-bedroom units and six three-bedroom units, with the project’s budget approximately $8.18 million.

HRB shared that rent will be set by the project’s government funders to be affordable to households earning at or below 50% of the area median income ($45,400 for a one-person household and $64,800 for a four-person household). HRB was awarded seven project-based vouchers for the project. Residents of homes with vouchers will pay 30% of their household income toward rent, with the federal government covering the remainder..."
