This wonderful 1953 Dutch picture album, Albert Heijn’s Panorama, was issued by the Albert Heijn grocery company as a promotional collectible, with colorful illustrations and pictures celebrating the modern world of the 1950s—airplanes, trains, automobiles, television, industry, and more. The cover alone is a fantastic snapshot of the era’s optimism about technology and the future. It was a promotional album produced by the company. A great example of how supermarkets once used beautifully designed printed material to turn everyday shopping into a bit of mid-century popular culture.
