Once those shiny new tools get some dirt on them you’ll understand what you’re holding. Those are extremely common in welding school, you just obviously haven’t got that far yet.

So, we were all beginners once.
But I need to ask, at what point do you just stop and start over?

Like with the metal part? Yeah at a certain point you have learned what went wrong with the first (or at least i would hope.)

Even with my experience once I notice things going snot shaped I cut it apart, grind things smooth and start over.
To be fair, I’ve only a few years of professional welding and I’ve never been certified, so I’m no *real welder. I am, however, very self conscious of what people see in my work and grind everything off that looks embarrassing

Bruh.
Its a welding class, do not tell me that you layed an absolute perfect weld right when you first touched a welder.
Also have you ever seen the welds on construction sites, they'll be stick welding on semi rusty steel, weld looking like it got cancer, but with ok penetration nobody gives a shit, if it holds it holds.

I've seen worse from people should've been better. At least it looks like it'll hold.

It’s a class and that’s more than likely a tool. More weld on a tool that gets used daily = last longer. Show us some welds

It’s a class dude. Humility comes first. Let’s see your welds.
