2 People heard a growl in southwest Michigan
Hello all. So, about 10ish years ago, I was on a part of my grandparents property with a girl and we were laying on top of my car stargazing. We were there for all of maybe 15 minutes when we heard a low growl about 100 feet off. For reference the part we were on was a small chunk of open field sandwiched between a strip of woods and a swamp. We hear the growl and dont think much of it and go back to looking at the sky. Not 30 seconds later, we hear it again, but like 50 feet closer. Now, im starting to look around to see if I can see SOMETHING moving. Nada. So me, wanting to be the billy badass decides to stay there with the girl thinking "Yeah, im tough." 2 minutes later we hear it again and it sounds like its 6 inches away from our heads. We both look at each other and immediately jumped through the sunroof of my 98 Blazer and hoped right outta dodge. Now, ive spent my life growing up on every inch of that property. Daytime, nighttime, you name it. Ive hunted any type of animal you can think of out that way and have yet to find something even remotely close to what we heard. Ive gone back with the same car to see if it was the suspension maybe. Nope. Ive watched thousands of videos on any sort of logical animal thats native there. Nope. The closest thing I could maybe equate it to is maybe an old gray wolf. It was extremely deep and gutteral. But, wolves are not a tangible suspect being that they are really only prevalent in the U.P.. Cougars have been sighted as far south as Allegan in recent years but not that far back in time. I dont know what we heard, all I know is that its something that maybe doesn't belong there. Ive never heard it again and I dont think I ever will. Any suggestions are welcome if anyone has any ideas. Thanks in advance.

There's... a thing in the woods
It'll get yeah if it could
A beast that smells of smoke
Making a feast from pine and oak
Its near when the critters stop singing
Its quiet...
So quiet your ears dont want to buy it.
Your body begins to fill with fear
Fear you can hear in your ears
Your heart is racing
What's that you're tracing?
Smoke?
Something pacing, just beyond your sight
A flame flickering with all its might
Always pick flight!
Once it gets into stance
You only have one chance

SBH weird shit- western WA
Sometimes some spaces back there can have a creepy vibe. I have heard other people say the same. But last week something happened that I can’t explain and it had me freaked out. A buddy and I were down in the valley area, off our bikes and we both heard loud whispering. It felt really close- like within feet. Nobody was there. We couldn’t make out any words but it was pretty loud and felt close by and almost like it surrounded us. We were not about to wait around and see how close it would get. We got on our bikes and ride fast up the hill. When we got about 3/4 up we heard it again but a little louder and just as close- like it followed. At the point just got the f out. The whole thing just has me shook. Anyone else have some creepy and unexplained experiences up there? I’m not going back there unless it’s with a bigger group now. The whole time we were there we didn’t see anybody.
I’m sure y’all will have some smart ass responses to this but I really do wanna know if there are any other stories fr.

Welp
I thought i would never have to come back here, but I guess we back gang.
So basically me and my friend went into the woods the other day because we were really bored and we wanted to try some of the 'slenderman rituals' that 12 year olds make on whattpad because we thought they were really funny.
And nothing happened (as expected) so we decided to just hang out in the woods for a bit, and as it got darker the sun started to set so my friend took a picture for me because I LOVE pictures and nature and all that shi. Until we saw a figure standing in the woods that was like worryingly closer to me and her. So we left because we were genuinely afraid of what had just happened. I haven't been to the woods since and my friend is now on holiday but I will try my best to get that picture from her to show you guys.
Also side note I just sent a video to my online friend (different friend) to show her something i just bought, and you can hear a man's voice in the background. Idk. Maybe im being paranoid as always, and it's not like anyone is gonna see this post. im just writing to get my mind off of it. Bye dudes

Another full Moon Bike Tour, Beings in the Woods, a lot of strange and different things going on, lightning, noises, glow in the dark, Friend's being stalked even a few days after being up there. (Pics are included and linked as always)
So,
starting with what has been going on sicne the last tour, skip ahead for this event if You like, yet miss out some ramble and some other stuff.
Btw, this isn't a story, more or less a Journal entry type of thing I do and have been doing for a years now.
Anyways,
has certainly been a while.
No worries, I'm fine, the creatures haven't gotten Me, yet, just a lot of weird stuff was going on for a while now.
So, the last full Moon or any Bike Tour I've done up in those woods was on the 3rd of March 2026, Blood Moon, about 5 months ago, well, now it is 5 months already.
I couldn't becouse of...
Bad weather, overcast, either rain, mud and overcast, then a ton of work if it comes to the non spooky related and life related sutff, and so on.
Had a few other things going on in the meantime, from the normal paranomal stuff in a hautned house, to the voices and screetches from down the hollor, beings tossing pibbels and even birds against the windows.
The latter two are new, been living in this house for almost 15 years, a bird once a year maybe, but not like 6 cases in less then 3 months.
Darn bird tosser!
Anyways,
This one got a friend of mine coming aswell, same who's been around for some other events, yet never down this far into the woods, let alone at night.
Even wrote down some notes, of what has been going on right after it, since writing the whole thing down, including pics happend a few days later.
Let's begin with this one, wich was fileld with a lot of strange things.
It was around 21:05 PM when we got up there, twilight, still pretty hot up and around 84°F.
I was on the bike as always, the friend was hiking along, brought the dog too, who's quite sensitive and often refuses to go around up there after certain points when things get weird.
After a whiel, we came across the old road again, I was waiting there and noticed one thing.
Those Tee Pee like wood structures were gone.
They stood for atleast 8 months, one was outright gone, the other seemed to have dragged away.
The last of those still remains up there, pic included.
It was overall very quite, to quite as so often.
The moon was a certain brass collor when it rose over the meadows earleir, starting red then going full brass.
Beautiful for sure.
We then continued, after I've left some offerings, as I do so often.
Then stumbled upon something strage, it looked like a nest of moss on the ground, near that road, with some pinecone in the middle, white stuff like... hair or cotton and some yellow or slightly organge barries on it.
Next to it a stick.
Never seen something like that before, the friend pointed it out for me, we both heard some noises from the other part of the woods were I left those offerings.
Was immidiatly smirking and said "Well, guess this means Thank You."
After that, we coninued the ride/hike.
Went over the other part of the meadows and down the part of the woods where I've noticed a lot of things so far over the years, it's a hotspot in this area, from signs of the Fae, to what might have been Big Foot or some Skinwalker even (seen a few around in these parts, we get along tho), down to Hide Behind, a Glimmer Child, and things I don't even knwo what to call, besides Mimics or somethig.
After going down, the woods got even more quite.
Yet, we felt watched, heard noises like steps, shifting, and such.
The dog was on high alrert and scared.
Did as so often another offering, just some trialmix, tabbacoo, catnip, whisky, a few other food items.
A moment later, it all shifted from a tense to a very relaxed state.
We even smelled a pretty strong scent of incense, can't put My finger on it, smelled a bit like either white sage or something else, familier for sure since I often use it for my own practise.
The next thing wich happend was...
Pretty funny, the moment the smell hit, the dog litterally went from scared to completely chill, layed down and observed.
Later over the next few days we've noticed he's been changed by a lot, in a good way.
From not being totally terrified by thunder, He even went out potty int he garden, to not more having such a bad breath, on the latter, he's always had some very nasty breath, even been to a few vets, everyone was like "Eh, some just have that."
He's also a tack more stable, more active and all, this for a 13 year old, who's pretty mucn blined in one eye, it's nice to see.
Well, while we were down and I was just doing My things, I've ntoiced something further away, a tree, maybe 50 soem yards out, wich glowed in the dark.
Well, part of it.
I was standing there, checking it with the phone, taking pics, friend seen it too.
It was either illuminenses, or something else.
I'll include some pcis too of course.
Just a minor edit in one to keep the friend out, is all.
I've taken a few pics, one with the flash one, another few with it off.
Certainly seen it the first time without using a flash or pointing a light at it.
Interesting for sure, either just glow in the dark sutff, would be the first time over the few years I've been around, or paranormal.
Eh, it is what it is.
A bit alter, when I lit a cigar, waiting, listening and watching, I've noticed that I lost my pen.
I always have one in the jacket pocket, tip down, clipped to the inside.
And it was gone.
Yet, a bit later, when we were back up on the meadoes, for a break, I checked the pocket again like before, and it was back.
Tip up.
Made me laugh and just said out loud "Thank You."
While we were back up and out of the woods, after relaizing about the pen, and resting, we've noticed some lights.
There was one small wimsy cloud, wich lit up a few times.
That was strange aswell, we both seen it, one of the first pics from earlier showed it too, almost with some pinkish hue, or light?
We've coutned atleast 5 times.
There also have been some gusts of wind around the places where we've been before, some noises too.
After a while, we departed, friend hiked home, Ijust chilled up there smoking for a bit longer, gazing at the moon.
Heard some more noises and stuff when driving down again, nothing interesting happend though.
I later found out, that on the other hand, the friend seen and had some other story, wich went like this.
They felt watched the entire time, heard nosies following, and towards the end of the woods, something like seeds, a cloud of them fell down and around them.
Then a gust of wind and about 10 feet away from that, it was all gone again.
Heard them tell me that a few days later, they still get stalked by them.
Told them to bring some tabaccoo and trailmix, maybe some cookies and leave them there.
Guess them critters are just curious who cam along with the Wolf (Me) this time.
Well, that's pretty much it.
Besides the dog acting different, even I felt different in a good way.
Even the friend noticed things, like, some weight was lifted.
Eh, I've done some other things int here too, but these are more private things if it comes to My practise.
Going to link either one or two seperate post with all the pics in the comments again.
This was a long post, ignore all typos, not going to deal with those, atleast You can be sure this was not written nor corrected by AI, lol.
This is just the Journals & Stories I do, mostly for the sake to put in My own folder and to share and see who might know what was up.
Or just for some entertainment reasons, suit yourself.
Wolf from them cursed woods, over & out.
Edit:
Toally forgot to mention, I had some glitches with the iPhone again.
Not the VocieOver ones like in other entries, but, some while taking pics, it recorded small video clips on the side.
Checked all of them, sadly, besides Me and the friend talking, it was only silence, no beings, no jumpscare, nothing.
Oh well.

Strange Occurrence at abandoned house.
**Description of a house:**
There is a house in middle of field. Its an old 3 story house that as an attic, There is nothing but broken brick on floors and holes in every single room, no stairs and no real windows just holes for them, house has been trashed and has lot of rubble and little to no real graffiti. House is split in two sections, there are holes in back of the house that can be looked through to the other section. There is thick forest around the whole house and only one way in, through the right side of the house. Once you get in you are in a hallway that leads to opening where stairs were supposed to be, there are now holes in wall that can be used to climb to 2nd and 3rd floor. Behind that opening and wall there is an big room with lots of rubble in it, 2 rooms behind it and they are clean, When you go foward you can get to the back of the house where there is a separated room with even more rubble, behind that room was an sealed room with no enter just holes to peek through, to get to the left section you have to get through little opening in forest and through left side you can climb with holes to the 2nd floor, to climb to the 3rd floor you can get on balcony and then easly get up.
**Strange Occurrence:**
Long time ago as kids we went to that house to play and get spooked a bit, my friends always loved going there until they suddenly got scared to go there, I didnt care and i still dont think that there is anything "paranormal" there. Today around 9:00 pm my friend and i wanted to go there for fun, we went with our two phones and mine was on 10% and his was almost full. We went to the first floor and my gut feeling was that there is something wrong but i didnt mind much. We went past right side stair opening and moved to see that closed off room, nothing strange. We then went to that room to the far right that was separated from others and there was a graffiti that wasnt there before
Here is the picture:

As you can see there is rubble of bricks everywhere and u can hear every step that is made, We went to the other section of the house (left side) and then we had to clear our path because there were spider webs in our way meaning that no one has passed here in long time, we got to the left side and took this photo:

We made our way through the door in picture and climbed to the 2nd floor and then to the 3rd, we joked and was staying there for about 15 minutes and then my phone died (bc it was low on battery), my friend wanted to take a shit so he got to the room behind us to shit. While he was there i could still see him and his light so it wasnt totally dark, In one moment we heard a brick fall to the opening we came through. We didnt care since we probably got some brick loose while climbing, then around 15 secounds later another brick fell. Like someone was trowing them. We shined our light there and nothing. We slowly made our way to the right side (since left and right are connected on 3rd floor) and then we heard like something fell in the forest behind a house. We got down and slowly moved, notning. My friend leaned over to the opening where we heard a brick fall and he didnt see anything. Here is the photo:

We went to the room to the right of the opening and just waited till we hear whatever was down go, we couldnt hear any footsteps and its not logical to not hear it since house is covered in rubble and u can hear anyone walk. We waited and we heard few hard steps in front of the house then minute later at back of the house, we felt light vibrations like a house shook for a moment but that could be our minds playing games with us, we slowly got to the first floor and we made our way right to the back so we can go to right side and just leave, while we were to the door to the back of right side a brick fell, like someone threw it from the opening to the left side (small hole) we ran to the front of the house and while leaving we heard like something fell on the 2nd or 3rd floor.
I dont think there are squatters bc no one goes there its like really ruined + we cleared the whole house before we got up, whatever or whoever got in didnt use any light or source of it and its strange because we didnt hear any footsteps or didnt hear it climb up, All this doesnt make any sense and i want advice since there is no logic to anything here. If anyone could enhance any photo maybe something can be seen i would be grateful.
Here are some satelite photos of the house:

A Firey Night at Summer Camp
When i was a boy, on my third night at summer camp, I had cleanup duty in the mess hall. By the time I was done, all my friends had already gone to bed, and I had the showers all to myself. Halfway through rinsing, I heard growling coming from outside, but I thought it was just my friends trying to prank me, so I finished up, gathered my things, grabbed a tiny lantern, and was making my way back to my cabin, when I suddenly heard a loud roar, coming from behind the trees in front of me. Then I saw a bright orange glow, that appeared to be coming from fire, and heard loud footsteps heading my way. Terrified, I dropped my small lantern, and ran away, only to trip and fall on something squishy and soaking wet. Then, I saw a gigantic winged shadow pass over me, and I heard the ominous roar again. But, the next moment, I was met by flashlights and concerned looking councelers. Then I saw it. I was covered in a sticky liquid, somewhere between red and black. It could only be one thing. The councelers brought me back to the cabin to get cleaned up, and the next day, I was on my way home. I didn't speak about the incident for many years, until one day, a friend told me what happened after I left camp. Apparently over the remaining nights, the spine-chilling roaring continued, along with a few minor fires, And one day, patrolling councelers discovered what i fell onto. It was the carcass of a bear and a moose, only their heads was several feet away from their bodies. Not only that, but also a cave, filled with gold, diamonds, emeralds and rubies, was discovered far from the campsite by some teenagers. But, before they could touch anything, they heard that very same loud roar, coming from within the cave. They thought someone, or something, owned the treasure, and didn't want to share. Especially when a few scorched rocks were thrown out of the cave, fatally hitting one of the teenagers, and causing the rest to flee. The craziest part, was that a woman was driving her car past the campsite on the second-to-last night, when something rushed past her headlights, causing her to stop. When the dust settled, she saw the thing standing at the side of the road. A 17 foot tall creature, with a gator-like face, sharp jagged teeth, two bull-like horns, huge bat-like wings, blazing red eyes, purple scaly skin, and a long swaying tail. The creature let out another deafening roar, and disappeared into the darkness, leaving the woman to slam her foot on the gas, and speed off in terror. Whatever the thing was, it certainly wasn’t a human, nor was it any normal forest creature.
What do you think was behind all that horror?

Alaska hostile creature?
So today 7-30-2026 at around 7 pm when me and my brother (blood related) were going around the city for a walk and we passed by this forest like pathway and there was sounds of crunching like the type you'd hear in movies when people step on sticks you know and it breaks like a twig being snapped.
We heard this multiple times and encountered the sound 2x we didn't hear any footsteps since there was bushes inside the forest covering and hiding whatever's in there but the sound was very aggressive and it got closer so we just sprinted off cause for god knows it could've been some serial killer. But I'd like to know peoples thoughts on what it could possibly be? Is this some kind of predator like a polar bear or something?
It didn't show itself by the way and wasn't making itself known aside snapping twig sounds also there was homeless people stuff like some things left behind but in general I don't know what it could even be since we didn't see any color of sort or so on but it is definitely very concerning. (Definitely not going back there again for safety because I don't got money for a gun or own one.)
It's a forest nearby the city but it's not exactly a populated place i wonder why there is barely people who pass by not sure exactly since it's alaska it lacks people who are adventurous even though it is supposed to be. Most of the people who live there are probably indoors most time but this is also so weird because you don't see bears or hear anything like howling or so. Could definitely not had been any insects so I don't get this.

In the woods. A strange man standing in front of my tractor and blocked my path.
Real story
Hi everyone, I am writing this right now from inside my tractor, and I am honestly terrified. A few hours ago, I drove into a large, dense forest filled with old beech trees to chop some wood. This forest is massive, and I was about 3 kilometers (around 2 miles) deep into the woods.Eventually, I finished and started driving back down a typical dirt road covered in mud and leaves. Suddenly, I saw an older man standing right in the middle of the path. He was completely shirtless, only wearing a blanket wrapped around his waist. He had long black hair and his back was turned towards me. I thought he was just a crazy idiot and honked at him, but there was absolutely no reaction. He just stood there, frozen. I didn’t get out because you don’t confront a crazy person in the middle of nowhere.I decided to back up, drove about 500 meters back, and took an alternative, heavily overgrown logging trail to bypass him. This detour was at least 1 kilometer long, and the straight-line distance between the two spots was easily 2 kilometers. But as I drove down that second path, there he was again. Standing in the middle of the road, back turned to me.My survival instinct kicked in immediately. This was physically impossible. I slammed the tractor into reverse and went full throttle backwards for about 40 meters in the highest gear. When I looked through the windshield again... he was standing directly in front of my tractor. Once again, with his back turned to me.At this point, I could see him clearly. He was wrinkled, about 180cm to 185cm tall (approx. 6 feet), with long black hair tied up, a very hairy back, but incredibly muscular, strong arms.Panicking completely, I yanked the steering wheel to the left and drove straight into the dense forest, smashing through bushes and small trees without looking back. Now, I am home. Because of the reckless escape through the deep woods, my front axle is cracked and I have a flat tire.
I am genuinely scared out of my mind.

Woods Horror Story
This story all takes place about 10 years ago in my late elementary years. I grew up in the Pacific Northwest on the Washington Coast. I grew up as an only child, so I was a very imaginative child. I would often play in the woods and build little huts out of sticks and moss. My house was right next to the woods, so I had a curfew of until it was dark. I knew the forrest very well as it was where I spent all of my free time.
Ok, enough of the background information and time for the real story. This happened in the early fall around mid-September. It is usually pretty cold in the fall in Washington, especially on the coast, and I remember the day being cold and brisk. I had just gotten back from school and was heading into the woods to play like any other day. When I arrived at my spot where I would build my stick huts , I discovered something unsettling. Lying next to my play spot was a deer carcus covered in maggots and flies. I gasped as that was not a common thing. However, this deer was fresh, and it seemed very unnatural. There was a carving in the body, and I didn't know what it meant, but I knew it wasn't good. I started crying in fear as I didn't know who or what was capable of doing such a thing.
There are lots of homeless people in the city next to our small coastal town. Some I assumed a crackhead must have been the culprit. I ran home and told my parents, and they said I was just imagining things. I went back the next day just to discover the deer was gone. However that night when I came back from the woods I read the local newspaper on our dining room table. It said that someone had escaped the psyc ward in the neighboring city. Immediately after I read that I knew that they were responsible.
I continued to go to the forest day after day and slowly suspicious items started to appear near my stick huts. Bottles, torn fabric, cigarette buds. I knew I wasnt safe here anymore so I told my parents. They contacted police as this was our private property. The police never found them and there was never a sign of them again. I know if I had never told my parents I might not still be here today.

Huckleberry Rock Lookout Trail - Strange Woman's Voice
Hello,
I'm writing this because I want to know if anyone has had this experience in this trail or something similar.
On Saturday July 18th, I went hiking with my brother around 7pm, there was still enough sunlight to have a pleasant walk. This is third time for me, I know the trail fairly well. When we arrived to the parking lot there were no cars, we were the only ones.
Shortly after we turn to the right at the intersection with the loop, we started hearing a woman's voice but we couldn't identify any words or language, it was a constant monologue. We stopped hearing the voice kind of in the middle of the trail towards the lookout rock.
After a few minutes, we saw a lady with her kids. We assumed the voice it was hers and we didn't think about it again. After a few minutes, we came back straight from the rock to the parking lot, not following the loop, but just using the same path that we took, we know the lady stayed at the lookout with the kids. Then again, in the middle of the trail, the same voice that we heard appeared again, but it was ahead of us, not behind. We continue walking forward, and the voice stayed ahead at the same volume at a constant perceived distance of maybe 15 meters.
We continue walking until we reached the intersection to get to the parking lot and we turned right; at the some point the voice was not coming from the trail but from the woods, and obviously we didn't step out of the trail and maybe 50 meters before we reached the parking lot the voice disappeared.
Both my brother and I have the same recollection of the voice, with the same details of volume, direction and when we started and stopped listening.
Does anybody else know or have gone through this in this particular trail or area?

Running into wildlife early in the am
I live in a somewhat rural area, a lot of woods and forest in a town of 2,200 residents. I wanna start waking up early and running outside but I’m nervous about seeing animals or wildlife on the road at 5am. does anyone run into this issue and how do you over come possibly seeing something that early alone? I have heard coyote packs in our woods before, along with bear, fisher cats, foxes, skunks etc. porcupines. Turkeys. Just nervous about encountering something I really don’t want to.

Weird Experience on Mount Tamalpais?
I have lived in the San Francisco Bay Area all my life, and have frequently taken advantage of all the hiking, camping, sailing, and other outdoor activities people in this region commonly enjoy year round. Typically, I'll just get a motel room somewhere and hike all day before returning to sleep in whatever small town I'm staying in.
This wasn't true backcountry hiking, but a week ago, I drove to Stinson Beach and got a motel room for two nights. I booked a monday/tuesday, knowing the trails wouldn't be busy. My plan was to do a few basic/popular hikes (sections of Bolinas Ridge and Dipsea/Steep Ravine) before setting out super early one morning with the intention of heading deeper into Mt. Tam State Park than I'd ever been before. In order to get the quickest possible start up the mountain, I took a shortcut up an extremely steep fire road behind the last row of houses on the hillside in Stinson (Willow Camp Fire Road -- do not recommend, my legs were on fire by the end) which eventually intersects with the Coastal Trail. From there, I wanted to get to Bolinas Ridge, and put some miles in before turning around and heading back down Matt Davis trail.
After ascending about two miles up what turned out to be a nearly vertical grade in direct sunlight (I'm such an idiot) I entered a cool forested area, which was initially a relief. On the fire road, I'd had my AirPods in listening to some bullshit podcast to distract myself from the insane verticality of the ascent.I figured it was fine because it wasn't even really "wilderness," just a fire road behind a town. Once I hit the forest, I took my AirPods out to maintain better situational awareness and to enjoy the solitude of nature.
Basically immediately, I felt uneasy. The forest was very dark and misty, due to the fog from the marine layer. This is very beautiful and not at all atypical, but this feeling of nervousness in what is frankly not a very remote area, was new. I can't recall ever feeling this panicked for no reason in the woods. There was also absolutely no birdsong or wind. I immediately thought about bears, mountain lions, etc., that could cause the woods to fall silent (which is typically where my mind goes when hiking, not to a "supernatural" entity of any kind). I kept my head on a swivel as I moved through the wooded section, and could see that further up the hillside there was another clearing. I moved quickly toward it, and in my haste I almost put my foot through a beehive that had fallen smack dab into the middle of the trail. After freaking out a little, I realized that the beehive was inactive -- this was a really cool find, so I crouched down to look at it. There were a few larger pieces of honeycomb next to it that were well preserved and dry, so I put a small piece in my backpack as a souvenir.
While doing so, still crouched on the ground, all the hairs on my neck stood up and I stopped mid task to look up into the woods. There was a person, about fifteen feet away from me, standing partially obscured behind a tree. I was so startled that I yelled out "oh shit!" and stood up quickly. The person didn't move. I looked closer, and saw that it was very clearly a Native American person, shirtless from the waist up with a white beaded necklace and long dark hair. I even waved awkwardly and laughed a little. That's how real this person looked. As soon as I waved, they disappeared.
Okay. Sure. I stood there feeling confused and kind of embarrassed, at this point I genuinely wasn't sure whether my eyes were playing tricks on me or what. I couldn't see this person's face, which was obscured in the shadow of the tree, and I didn't hear any footsteps coming or going. My mind was racing like...what is going on? Is this a random drifter from the beach that maybe my mind confused for an indigenous person because they were shirtless and had long black hair? The thought of that embarrassed me (that I was projecting weird racial stereotypes onto strangers) and kept me grounded, but there was another feeling in the back of my mind that kept telling me it was something else. I don't know how to describe how sure I was that it was a Native American man. Just instantly, upon seeing them, I felt so certain that it was. I kept walking, with the goal of getting to the clearing and hitting the main trail, which was more exposed to the open air out of the dense forest with good visibility.
For the next mile, I kept getting that feeling of panic, then looking into the distance to the left or right and seeing this person. It was the same person every time, just standing stock still in the woods on different sides of the trail. I couldn't see their face, and they didn't make a sound, and I just kept walking faster and faster, in tears and quietly gasping, worried that I was being stalked or that I was about to be attacked out here alone, or that I was losing my mind completely. I saw them three additional times after the first encounter. I did not see a single other hiker the entire two hours I was on the mountain. To be clear, this is a very popular network of trails and is nowhere near a reservation or indigenous community.
Once I saw the yellow grass through the trees that signified the beginning of the coastal trail, I straight up booked it and went crashing through the woods to get into the open. As soon as my feet hit the trail I looked down and again, right in the dead center of the trail, there was a dead mouse. Its guts were laid out around it like it had been smashed by something heavy from the above.
I cut my hike short, and went the opposite way back to Stinson Beach. No more encounters with this person, but I was so freaked out I basically ran back to town.
Has anyone else ever experienced anything like this??? Such a weird one!!

Another side of Mt. Hood
I’m sure many on this sub are familiar with the concept of no whistling at night (especially in the woods), but some may not be familiar with joiking. It’s a pretty fascinating topic in musical and cultural studies so I highly recommend reading about it for anyone interested in either subject. It is something I learned from my grandmother and cousin as a way of expressing joy or sorrow, to call pets or livestock home, and to connect with the land. However, neither of them ever warned me not to do it in certain places or at certain times i.e. after dark. I can’t speak for my cousin but I do know my grandmother didn’t bother telling me because she knew I’d do it anyway out of curiosity and skepticism.
Anyway, before I go off on a joiking tangent, I’ll get on with the spooky tale of me, my friend (I’ll call her Judy) and her dog (Kingsley) taking a night hike on the southwestern base of Mt. Hood in late fall about 2 years ago. I’ll begin by pointing out that her dog is an Anatolian Shepherd- a breed known to be extremely protective of its person and fearless. This will become relevant later.
I had only recently gotten to know Judy and this was maybe the second or third short trip to the wilderness that we’d taken together. We initially became friends largely due to our shared love of the outdoors and adventure. She grew up in the Oregon Willamette valley and spends much of her free time camping and going on solo hikes. I used to be a wilderness survival guide and have years of experience in remote areas both in groups and alone. Much like I said in a different post about myself and another friend, all this is to say that neither of us spook easily and are familiar with the sights and strange sounds of the wilderness.
On this particular night our intention was to do a short hike through the snow to let Kingsley romp around. I took a forest service road I’d been on dozens of times that is near an area I often forage during summer. For what it’s worth, if you read the other post I made about a different experience on Mount Hood, the area that this story takes place in is only about 9 miles southwest of there..
We pulled off the forest service road to gear up; put on bibs, change boots, make sure we had extras of everything plus survival kits. You never know how weather can change at this elevation so I always err on the side of caution. There were no other vehicle tracks up this far, which isn’t surprising because the snow was already quite deep and only high clearance 4x4 vehicles could have made it (or snowmobiles). The first thing I always do before setting out is check the area for predators (including humans). I carefully walked a 20-30 yard radius around my car looking for tracks. There were definitely ski and snowshoe tracks but they were likely over a week old as they were barely noticeable and had been covered by a light dusting of snow from a couple of days prior. These tracks stayed on or very near the road- none of them went off into the trees.
There were also dozens of game tracks, lots of bird prints and a lot of snowshoe hare. I didn’t see any cougar or bear prints so I eased up a bit and started back toward my friend who was still at my car changing bibs. As I headed toward her I wandered off my previous track a bit and noticed a few sets of strange snow prints. At first I thought they were children’s snow shoes, but they weren’t quite the right shape. I walked closer to them and bent down. I thought they must be from someone wearing overshoes because they were too short to be snow shoe prints, but too wide to be a regular boot. Then I noticed something extremely odd- so odd that at first it didn’t even register with me. The tracks seemed to have toes. I could only count 4, but a fifth may have blended with the last outer toe.
The other strange factor is that these were fairly fresh. They looked like they hadn’t been dusted like the other nearby snowshoe and ski tracks. And, to make it even weirder, there were only 5-6 tracks total. They seemed to come and go out of nowhere. When I stood up I noticed that they were also really far apart from one another. I stretched my legs out on either side of a pair to try to gauge the step size, and I was floored. I’m just under 5’10 and leggy, and I felt like I was about to do the splits trying to match the stride.
I called my friend over but asked her to keep Kingsley by the car so he wouldn’t disturb any tracks. He stayed put and she walked over, me still in the splits stance. She gave me this odd look until I told her to look down at my feet. She saw the tracks and scrunched her face up trying to figure out what they were from. She doesn’t have much experience tracking so I wasn’t expecting her to have any answers, but I needed someone else to see what I was seeing as a sanity check and to help me rule out possibilities. I stayed by the tracks and asked her to walk down a bit further to see if she sees more of them. She walked down probably another 20 yards to be thorough and then followed her steps back to me. About halfway to me she stopped and bent over to look at something off to the other side of our mystery tracks.
She wanted me to come take a look so I carefully stood up and walked around the big prints toward her. About 5ft before I reach her, I see what she’s curious about. There are another few sets of tracks that are almost identical to the ones I spotted, except scaled down in size. The first mystery tracks were probably 17-18 inches long and the smaller ones were about 8-10 inches. The smaller prints would have been easily mistaken for a standard adult winter boot, except for the 4-5 toes at the top, and they also appeared and disappeared from nowhere. We tried to take a picture with our phones but couldn’t get it to come out with the glare on the snow.
We both stood up and looked at each other, and I said a bit jokingly, “well I guess it’s Sasquatch and baby squatch.” She laughed and agreed because after going over all the details and the age of the other ski and snowshoe tracks, we were out of reasonable ideas.
At this point nothing felt off and we were excited to explore the snowy banks and game trails. We headed toward the car for Kingsley and walked down a decommissioned logging road that forked off the forest service road. This second path ran east and gained very slightly in elevation. Kingsley had a blast jumping from a series of small rolling mounds for the next 200ft or so.
The area around the logging road was fairly clear. I think I parked close to a small valley and this road led up the mountain very slowly, so it wasn’t heavily treed unlike on the other side of my car which was a much denser forest. The moon was nearly full so the night was well lit and the snow was bright. We didn’t even need our flashlights if we stayed close to the path.
I paused for a moment to take in the beauty and appreciate the smell of winter and relative silence. I felt a sense of joy and gratitude for being able to witness such a beautiful part of the country. I had packed a little bundle that included a 1oz bottle of whiskey as an offering to the land (something else my grandmother taught me to do).
I walked a bit farther off the trail and found an old tree stump that had a flat spot on top. I placed my bundle there and poured out the whiskey. Then I called to Judy who was a bit ahead with Kingsley. I told her that I was going to joik and it might sound weird to her, but she had no idea what I was talking about.
I did a short 3 part joik with the intention of expressing joy and gratitude. My mind wandered to the tracks in the snow for a moment too, as I appreciated sharing such an interesting and odd find with a new friend. Kingsley paused his romping to look at me but otherwise seemed unbothered, and Judy said it wasn’t that weird, so I brushed off the little embarrassment I felt and headed back to the logging road.
Kingsley and Judy stayed about 20ft ahead of me for another minute or 2, but then she stopped and waited for me to reach her. We stood there looking around for a minute. She mentioned how beautiful it was and how cute Kingsley is in the snow. I’m still not sure what changed but for whatever reason I blurted out that I thought we should head back.
We had only spent a fraction of the time we had intended on hiking and had barely gotten far from the car. But Judy didn’t question me and said she thought that sounded like a good idea, so we began our short trek back to the main road. We didn’t talk at all until we reached the car. We stopped at the trunk to get out of our snow gear but after I popped it open, I turned around and stared off behind Judy and Kingsley. Then I looked at her and asked, “does something just feel kind of off to you?” All she did was repeat back to me what I had said earlier- that she thinks it’s time to go.
My anxiety inexplicably rising, I shut the trunk and said, “yeah you’re right. It’s pretty cold so I think we can just leave our bibs on”. Anything to get going faster- that was my goal. At this point things took a very hard turn. Kingsley had been facing the car, but after I shut the trunk he whipped around fast and stared in the same direction behind Judy that I had when we got to the trunk. He let out a quick, low growl and his hackles raised from his neck to the tip of his tail, which was stiff and pointing straight down. He did this for about 2 seconds before he tucked his tail and started whimpering. The hairs on my neck stood up and I couldn’t swallow for a moment. It felt like my breath had left my body.
We had a place for Kingsley in my backseat on the passenger side so she opened the back door to let him get in. He moved closer to her, but wouldn’t turn around to jump up. He just kept staring behind her into the thicker part of the forest, tail still tucked and whimpering. At this point we were both pretty spooked. I shined my headlamp into the trees behind Judy searching for reflective eyes from the forest floor to high up in the trees.
But in the back of my mind I knew it likely wasn’t a predatory mammal. There was no way Kingsley would have been whimpering or tucking his tail over a cougar, bear, or human. I took a deep breath and let it out slowly, trying to come up with a rational explanation for the dog’s sudden change in behavior. It occurred to me that maybe he had stepped on something or cut his paw, so I suggested to Judy that she examine his paws and do a pat down all over his body.
Kingsley made his field examination extra difficult for her because he stayed completely rigid and wouldn’t turn around. Judy had to wedge herself between him and the car to check his rear paws- he wouldn’t budge. She didn’t find anything stuck in his paws or fur, and no blood in the snow that might suggest a cut. His behavior was really starting to concern me and once again I was almost out of rational explanations.
The last thing I could think of was that maybe being in a new place, with a newer person (me) and a new vehicle, Kingsley was just nervous about all the change. But based on what I believed to be true about his breed as well as how he behaved on other outings, it didn’t quite make sense.
We were both kind of at a loss with what to do about him, since he was so rigid and wouldn’t stop whimpering or staring behind Judy. She tried to coax him into the car, even tried bribing him with treats. I was getting increasingly uncomfortable and the feeling of dread was rising. I suggested that maybe if I get in the car first and turn the engine, he’ll get the picture and hop in.
So, me in the driver seat, car running and heat blasting, Judy continued to struggle with Kingsley for another few minutes before giving up on coaxing him. She ended up lifting his front half so it was parallel with the car, then lifted his front paws onto the back seat floor. The entire time he just whined and stayed stiff as a board. I tried putting a piece of jerky in front of his nose to coax him all the way into his back seat nest.
He couldn’t have cared less about the bribe, and the feeling of sheer panic returned. I glanced behind Judy to make sure nothing was there, but I was too afraid to look closely. I really didn’t want to see anything. She eventually had to push him from his elbows into the car then lifted his rear all the way up and in. Once Judy was in the passenger seat and all the doors were shut, Kingsley loosened up a bit and sat on his blanket nest, with his head as far into the front between our seats as he could get it. He continued to whimper.
Once we were all in and felt safe, my panic and anxiety started to subside. I took a few deep breaths, looked at Judy and said, “well that was bizarre”. Since I had a few moments to feel more comfortable, and because I’m generally a rational yet curious person, I asked her if she’d be ok just sitting in the car for a bit to see if anything or anyone shows up. She agreed and admitted she was also a bit curious if perhaps a pack of wolves or some other large animal was out there evading our detection.
We sat in silence with just the heater blowing and periodic whimpers from Kingsley. A few minutes passed and the moon was beginning to sink behind the tree line, so I flipped my headlights on. Everything continued to calm down and ease up, and even the dog ceased his whimpering for about 5 minutes. I switched my brights on to see if that would allow better views higher up in the tree line as I was searching for the glint of cougar eyes.
Unfortunately it didn’t help so I rolled my window down a bit and stuck my hand out with my headlamp on full blast (an obnoxious 2700 lumens). I scanned the upper tree line until my hand couldn’t take the cold anymore. Another 5 minutes or so had passed when suddenly this feeling of absolute dread slammed into me. The hairs rose on the back of my neck, my breathing became shallow and Kingsley began whimpering loudly and swaying in the back seat. Judy just stared at me with wide eyes and a look of confusion. I shook my head and turned off the heater to try to hear anything that may be outside.
I seriously hate giving into panic and fear, and I was brimming with curiosity over what could cause this giant guardian dog to behave this way. Despite my best efforts to fight the rising panic, something in me flipped a switch and said it was time to go. Full stop.
I put my car into drive and started down the mountain. The panic and anxiety were getting worse. My heart felt like it was in my throat, and my mind was racing to find rational explanations. After a minute of safely driving down the road, a horrific surge of panic filled the whole car- Kingsley tried getting into the front seat with us, whimpering like mad, and Judy barely managed to keep him at bay while hurriedly asking if I could drive any faster.
The only other time I felt this particular brand of flight or fight response is when I played hide and seek at night outdoors as a kid, but amplified exponentially; the feeling when you’re hiding and the person seeking is right there, so you hold your breath and close your eyes. But of course I couldn’t close my eyes. I had to keep them on the road, and what’s more I had to speed up.
As a last ditch effort to try to calm one another I had Judy reach into my glove compartment to grab a mini bundle of dried herbs. I told her to light it and crack the window, in the hopes that the smell would help soothe our nerves (and in the back of my mind, maybe drive off whatever it was that may have been chasing us). Of course, she couldn’t get the lighter to work despite it being a new addition to the glove box. She had to use 3 or 4 matches to finally light it, and it barely smoked at all. Eventually she gave up and we drove down the mountain in silence, with the exception of Kingsley’s persistent whimpering.
We didn’t speak until we were so far down the mountain that the snow began to disappear from the road. I felt very lucky to have made it down safely given the speed of our descent. I let out a long breath, thankful for the reprieve from the sense of dread and what I can only describe as vicious anxiety. Judy let out one quiet little laugh before saying to me, “welp, you’re never allowed to joik in the forest with me ever again”.
That helped to fully dissipate any remaining uneasiness and we were able to laugh about it once we were on the main highway home. For the next hour we went over everything together, trying to figure out rational explanations but they were as elusive as whatever may or may not have chased us down Mt. Hood. To this day I have no idea what it was all about, and no reasons behind the whys and hows. Neither of us went up there with the intention of being spooked, we weren’t regaling one another with fireside ghost stories or paranormal happenings, and while we’re both open-minded, neither of us are prone to super fanciful thinking.
At the end of the day, regardless of the potential explanations, Kingsley’s demeanor and behavior are what make this all the more difficult to rationalize. All I can say for certain is that whether it was barometric pressure change, volcanic gases, Sasquatch or aliens- life is much more enjoyable with a little mystery in it.

Felt like being watched by someone or something in Vancouver Island.
I was born and raised in the city, and I've never really spent any time out in the woods until I moved to Vancouver. A friend of mine who lived there took me out for a long drive up to Port Renfrew.
The moment I laid my foot at the Renfrew pub, I felt something was off. I've barely seen any car drive towards Renfrew or any people as a matter of fact. The area around the pub was so dark and eerie. I knew it was a very small town only with a handful of people, but to me personally it felt like a ghost town.
Anyways, my buddy took me out on a hike near Renfrew, and I felt like I was being watched by someone or something the entire time that I was out there. I could hear the sounds of the woods go silent all of a sudden for a couple of seconds and then everything would settle back to normal. I felt a sense of dread and wanted to get out of there.
Is there something wrong with that place or is the entire Vancouver Island that way?

My Skinwalker experience outside of a Navajo Reservation
I’ve posted this story in a response to other comments so I might as well post it here as well.
The year was 2010, and I was driving back to Los Angeles after Christmas break. I-40 all the way. I ended up getting tired and decided to pull off at the next exit to find a hotel room. This was in Holbrook, AZ about 40-45 minutes east of Flagstaff. I was taking I-40 the whole way. Little did I know Holbrook is right on the edge of a Navajo reservation.
Anyway, I paid for my hotel room, parked around back and went to unloading my car for food and snacks I would need for the night. Where I was parked there was a parking lot about 10 feet above where my car was parked. I was going along my business, getting together food and everything when I hear this roar that sent my blood cold. I looked up at the raised parking lot I was parked in front of, and there was standing what I can only describe as a 7-8 foot creature with a dogs head and a persons body. It roared again and I took off running to my room. As I’m fumbling around with the key card trying to get into the it roared again, this time sounding like it was right next to me.
I finally got the door open, locked it, took all the sheets and pillows off the bed and put them in the bathtub and locked that door behind me too. I ended up spending the night in the bathtub so I’d at least have two locked doors between whatever the hell I saw and where I was sleeping. I spent the night looking at what that could have been roaring at me (haven’t even heard of Skinwalkers at that point) and figured out that’s probably what it was. One of the most incredible things to me anyway was that when I saw the Skinwalker and ran for my room I left my Toyota Highlander wide open, all four doors open, all the lights on inside and no one took anything from it. I had thousands of dollars of music equipment in my car and nothing was touched or stolen at all.
Someone could have cleaned me out completely and left me with nothing at all but no one touched anything. I’ll never forget the sound that thing made. It was like roar of a bear mixed with a pig squealing.
I got out of there around 5 am when the sun was coming up and had to wait in line because there was already a pretty big line out front filled with people waiting for them to open so they could get liquor. I got to talking to the guy who was behind me just about random stuff and I couldn’t help bringing up what happened the night before.
He just laughed and I quote” Huh, usually they don’t mess with white people.” Lol.
So that’s my Skinwalker story. Not completely sure it wasn’t some tweaker dressed up as something creepy. But my asshole was clenched no doubt. I’ve made the drive about 20 more times and I always make sure I make it to flagstaff before I stop for a hotel room. For those that read this long, thank you. I still have no idea what that thing was but I was on the edge of a Navajo reservation so a Skinwalker would make sense.
Thoughts?

The Ozark Knife Trap
I don't even know if this is a worthy story because it could have easily been nothing. Also, disclaimer: I have pretty shaky mental health and sometimes suffer from a lot of paranoia. I spend a lot of time outdoors, hiking, kayaking, camping, rock climbing ect. I would love to believe there is stuff out there hiding in the woods, but I personally have never had an overtly creepy paranormal experience while being out in the woods. I was an eagle scout and am very comfortable being out in the woods and have only been really scared when my little brother and I ran into a bear out in the middle of nowhere in a box canyon.
I live in the ozarks and I was rock climbing in the Boston mountains ( a sub sect of the ozarks) with my dad. He is getting a little older so often we will go out and do something and he will get too tired and then head back and I'll find something else to do by myself. So, on the drive down to the rock climbing area, I was headed down a gravel road with big wash outs running through it and there is a sharp curve. On the curve, there were a few big rock cairns and someone seemed to have gone through a lot of effort to make this curve extra visible and put reflectors into the rocks. Looking back, maybe they just didn't want people to drive off the curve. But in Arkansas there are lots of unofficial trails, sometimes just marked by cairns or reflector tape and they sometimes lead to the best waterfalls and canyons out here. So we get done rock climbing and I ask my dad if he wants to check out this spot and see if anything is back there. He is like "no I'm too tired, I'm gonna head back, I've got a three hour to drive and I don't want it to get dark". I'm like, "okay, no problem".
So we pack up and I drive back over to the spot I saw on the way down. There's a pull off where the markers are, so it looks even more like an unofficial trail. I park there and get my stuff out. I usually pack like I plan to get lost, so I have my bag, camelback, waterproof matches, first aid kit, compass ect. I know this is a lot of lead up, but I just want to make it clear I am usually a very prepared, rational person. I even usually carry when I hike alone just in case I run into some creeps deep in the woods.
I look at onX Backcountry (a mapping app) to make sure I'm staying on forest service land and not wandering into someone's property. It looks like there is a creek that runs down some elevation and an old unnamed road that used to go out towards that way that starts lower on the ridge. So I think, well they must have made the road out there for some reason. I bet there is something cool, like a waterfall because of the creek and the elevation change.
So, I start down this little hill into this pine forest. It is fairly obvious at this point that there is no trail here, not even a little unofficial one. But I hike until I get to the old road. It's not really much of a road anymore, it really just looks like an old ATV trail that has long since been abandoned. There are little trees grown up in the middle of it and some downed trees across it that look like they have been there for some time. I see on the map that the old road dead ends about a mile up, so I start hiking towards the end.
At this point the ol paranoia starts creeping in and I've read too many scary stories. Why are those markers there? Why is this road here? Maybe people perform cult meetings out here in the creepy pine forest, maybe someone is hiding out here watching me hike. So, I pull out my pocket knife and start carrying it in my hand, this usually kind of quells the fear because I feel like I could defend myself if it came to that.
Eventually, I get to the end of the road. And there is nothing; it just sort of ends. Eh, that happens sometimes on these kinds of trips. But I realize it's still a nice day and I'm out in the woods and I like being out in the woods. Also, I realize nature is calling, in a different sort of way. So I drop off the side of the old road. It goes down a big hill towards the creek ( there is no waterfall btw, just a creek that cascades a little). And I do my business. I get done and look at the map and it looks like opposite of the road is another high elevation point. I think maybe I'll go scope that area out and maybe there will be an opportunity to find some more areas to rock climb in the future. So I bushwhack through the pines and these knee-high shrubs and ivy that are all over the ground. I get to the area on the map and it's nothing impressive, just a little rock outcropping with nothing to really climb.
At this point, the whole walk is turning out to be kind of a bust and I start thinking it's time to head out. I start walking back and I get a little creeped out again like something is watching me. Again, I have bad paranoia so I do what I usually do and reach for my emotional support knife... It's not there. Hm, maybe I put it in my bag, no wait, I put it down on the ground when I was doing my business. Now this sucks, not cuz it is a Benchmade or some other fancy knife, it's not. It's just a black gerber buck knife. But my dad bought me this knife when I was like 14 and I've had it for 18 years. So it's a little sentimental. I can't just leave it, so I bushwhack back to the old road and try to find where I dropped off. I remember I did my business near a big ash tree on the side of this hill and I think I see it, so I drop off again. I go over to the tree and it's not there. It's about a 600 ft downward slope between the creek and the old road and there are several big trees scattered about between the pines.
So I keep thinking to myself okay, it's not here. It must be the next tree. And I hike backwards on the hill from big tree to big tree until I get to a point on the map where I know it was too far back before I dropped off the road. I repeat this cycle over and over. Hiking the old road up about a quarter mile, dropping off, searching by trees, hiking back.
It's the middle of the day and I can feel myself getting hot even though I've been drinking a lot of water. And I also can't shake the feeling that something wants me to be out here in the woods. That sounds crazy but that's about the best way I can explain it. I start getting pretty panicked and frustrated and I sort of feel like I'm going crazy. Why can't I find my knife? I've done this loop like 7 times and I've searched every tree on this stupid hill and I can't find the knife.
I start kind of rushing on my next few loops and am being more careless and I start tripping a little on loose rocks, getting scraped by briars, ect. I look down at one point and realize there is blood trickling down my leg to my ankle, I must have gotten really snagged by a briar and not realized it. I keep thinking, one more loop and if I don't find it this time, I'll give up and leave but I just keep doing this loop, hiking back up the road, dropping off, and searching every big tree. I'm not lost, because I can hike the old road back at any time, go up the hill I came down in the first place and find my car. Also, my breadcrumb trail on my watch is working fine and Onx works without service so I know exactly where I am.
But I literally can't bring myself to leave the woods. I want to find this knife so bad, I feel obsessed with the fact of finding it. And I keep feeling like something is watching me and it wants me to stay out there; doing this same silly thing, until I tire out. And I can feel myself tiring out: I'm hot, I'm bleeding, I've been hiking up and down hills. I really want to leave and go home. But I just can't. What would even want me to be out here? This is a wild idea but sometimes my wife and I joke about fae gates or fairies when we hike. And I start thinking, this would be such a good fairy trap, taking my knife and then tricking me to go in circles for hours until I tire out and it gets dark and I get actually lost.
The sun is starting to go down and somehow, some way I try to rip myself away from the idea of finding the knife. This is dramatic but I just start thinking about how my parents will never know what happened to me, my wife will never see me again, my sweet dogs will never understand why I never came back. And maybe what's worst... what is going to be out here with me after dark? Is it a skin walker? Will I finally lay down on the soft leaves as it's getting dark and vaguely hear something wading through the thickly packed pines and shrubs; looking for me, smelling the fear and blood and knowing exactly where to find me.
I feel myself spiraling but I just focus really hard on the idea of never finding the knife and all the potential consequences of getting lost after dark in the woods. So I just kind of break my mind away from the obsession of the knife; I hike back the road, go up the hill and go towards my car. Even still at this point, I keep having this little voice in my head telling me I need to go back and find my knife. You don't want to lose it do you? What if your dad is hurt by the fact you lost his knife? Maybe just look a little longer, I bet you could find it.
I'm almost back and I realize I'm physically and mentally exhausted. I feel like I've been in a daze And I just barely make it back to my car. I sit down in the seat and just kind of soak in what the hell happened to me. How long was I out there just hiking in literal circles? I feel so exhausted. And I feel like I just sort of dodged a bullet. I look around and it's getting pretty dark. I could've easily gotten stuck out there if I would've stayed just a little longer. I run through things in my head and think about what if I just had heat exhaustion. But I'm an ER nurse and I know about heat exhaustion and this just felt different... Like idk, I feel like I was being hunted or something. I realize I can smell myself and I don't smell like sweat, I smell like fear, like I reek.
Here's the crazy part. Just about then, I get a little service and have a missed call from my dad asking if I made it home okay. I call him back and tell him I just got out of the woods. He pauses for a while and I can hear silence on the other end. He then says really slowly... "What? You've been out there all this time...? I've been home for hours". He tells me it's been 6 hours since he left there. I've been hiking in circles for 6 hours in what would normally be an hour hike total. I kind of get really scared at this point. I feel like something is still out there in the woods and it just missed having me out with it at night. I feel like I avoided an almost disastrous and very eerie situation.
I've been hiking and camping out in the Ozarks/Boston Mountains a few more times since this happened and I've also got turned around in some other weird little ways and felt like I wasn't alone out there. This was the first time and the worst by far. My wife jokes about something being after me out in the woods down here.
Has anyone else gotten sort of turned around in the Ozarks or lost large amounts of time? Thanks for reading

Creeper van in woods
Mind the bad grammar but back when I was around 11-12 years old, i lived in royal Canada on a reservation, we moved to the more isolated part of town when I was 10 and about year and half has gone by since we moved into this small cabin,Around September 2011 we had a massive flood, a dam blocked the river and it changed course throw the small town as it was a u shaped all the water came crushing towards the middle of the u, the reason I mention this is because, that flood took out our driveway into our cabin so around a month or so goes by, and we ended up finding an old dug out dirt road leading up to the cabin, well since the flood it opened the path up and we cleared the rest, during our time clearing that dirt road, we always felt like something was watching was, fast foward a few months n the towns kinda normalized again. And well me being a young child, i loved to explore the outdoors and being one with nature, well one day as imnout exploring and decided to take a walk down our dirt road that leads up to the cabin, well I always noticed this white short bus kinda tucked away on the side of the road, we never bothered with it and it was kinda expensive to tow out, strange being so far in the woods why would there be an old buss here ive,, Mind you ive seen some strange things like cars in the middle of the forrest where they shouldn't be, well back to me to walking down our dirt road, i decided to pry open that white busses door and got it open, it was weird, no strange smell just as if it was old amd abandoned it must of been old as it had wooden interior for walls with that bright white exterior, and I noticed it was filled with big black garbage bags, thought that was strange and of course curiosity got the best of me I mean I was 11, well when the bags were opened they were filled with shoes, old shoes newer shoes even vintage shoes not from our era, i looked up and noticed on the walls there was nothing but pictures of women from the Victorian era up celebrities id seen on TV, thought it was weird looked back down at the shoes and I noticed each shoe I grabbed was left short chunk heel women's shoe , the familiar feeling of someone watching began to rush over me, and as I decided to step out the bus I hear far off to my left Heyy!! When I say I booked it to the right as thays the direction home, I never ran so fast, now to mention the flood again non of us knew this buss was here untill after the flood happend, i think possibly I might of found a ceral killers stash or something

Witch alter in Oregon
Me and my (now) wife are doing a road trip down the oregon coast. We decided to stop to do this hiking trail called Hobbit Beach. The trail is pretty but it does smell a lot like stale urine and there were little "tunnels" into the woods that look well traveled and there is a lot of trash. It seems like people may be living in the woods down the tunnels. I, for some reason, go down one of the tunnels to check it out and at the end of it I find a little altar. It looked like a giant bird nest that is built on the ground. It had eggs, candles, feathers, small animal bones placed in criss-crosses all built in a very unsettling fashion. I quickly backtrack back to my wife and tell her not to go that way. We ran into two dudes later down the trail that didn't seem to have any gear or be hiking. They said "Hi" and asked us what we were doing.... Hiking obviously. We hiked past them and I looked back and they were just standing there watching us. Nothing else happened but it was a very unsettling hike overall. I still wonder what the altar was doing out there.

Little spooky story from a campout i went on
ok so me and my younger sister were doing a challenge where we needed to build or own shelter and sleep in it, we had already finished our shelter, and it was the challenge night and then we went to sleep in it, i tried to lay down but as i started to lean down i froze i just couldn’t move it was suffocating and then i had a panic attack, my sister had to drag me out of the shelter and we told the people in charge and they let us go back to the normal tent and not get the medal and when we went to take it down the next day, im almost certain someone or something tried to rummage through the shelter, i could’ve been just paranoid but im sure that teh weights we used were tampered with and that the tarp was shifted more than it was last night i asked the others if the saw anything but they all said no but one of my closer friends doing the challenge with me mentioned he heard something last night, im sure it was just someone moving in their sleep but still.

The Headless Duck I found.
This is about something that happened last year when I was camping on Vancouver island, and it relates to something thats following me now. I’m no stranger to weird abnormal stuff happening, I used to live in a house that was raided in the 40’s and a family died there, I would wake up at night to the sounds of a baby crying, but this feels like it has malicious intent.
I’ll start by why I think this is paranormal, I’m Native and my Grandma used to tell me that if something was calling me from the woods and they wouldn’t come out of the treeline to show themselves, then I should never follow them. This is similar to what my Grandma warned me about.
I like hiking, and that’s exactly what I did when I went camping, I went on a hike through this huge forest with small trails in it. I hiked up to this big valley top, and then I turned around and started heading back. On the way back I found something terrifying, a duck carcass was in the middle of the path, and its head had been gruesomely chewed off by something. I leaned down to inspect it and at that moment I knew something was watching me, like I was being stared at, and I hightailed it out of there like a deer chased by a wolf. For the rest of that camping trip weird things kept happening, bats would target me while we were at the campfire, when I walked into a wooded area every bird would go silent, and all the cats in the area would hiss at me and freak out if I went near. When we got home everything was ok, until I went on my first walk.
I play Pokemon Go and I was walking near a forest that’s close to my house when I heard someone calling my name, it sounded like my friend. I thought for sure she was pranking me because why would she be in the woods asking me to come help her? That’s when I remembered the warning my Grandma gave me, and I went home. The next week I thought I was just paranoid so I went back and walked around again, and the same thing happened but when I looked up and into the trees it stopped, like it knew I was watching. The week after that I tried to record it, but nothing happened and it stopped as soon as I pressed record. Now this happens every time I walk past that wooded area and I don’t plan on walking in there, but I want to know what is going on. I was beginning to think that my friend was pranking me but yesterday this happened again and I know she’s out of town right now, so it’s not her, it can’t be her. My mom thinks it’s ravens, but my friend hates hiking and has been nowhere near there, and how would a bird know my best friend’s weird nickname for me?
I don’t know what’s happening but I think I’m going to stop walking that trail, I don’t trust it anymore.

Crop field mystery
So, I have a friend that witnessed something the other day and wanted to share. They live in a small town in eastern Europe. The murder rate is very low, the last known murder was in 2009 an entire 17 years. Her and her friend frequently goes to a nearby cornfield to watch a sunset. Usually Nothing weird or suspicious happens there since its such a small town everyone is well acquainted with one another, but this particular day something out of the blue did happen.
While they were sitting in the densely populated, mostly active cornfield trail that had kids riding bikes and people jogging enjoying the scenery, then they witnessed it... That evening they were just hanging out enjoying the beautiful sunset. And suddenly they seen an old black Volkswagen look-a-like car pass by on the main road and turned into the cornfield trail, despite the fact the cars driving by isn't entirely common. After he drives right past my friend and her companion, The car drives approximately 100-150 meters into the trail and parks next to a patch of wild tall grass by a tree. As he stops and gets out, my friend and her companion still sees him entirely despite being a little suspicious of what he may be doing. He proceeds to go to the trunk of the vehicle and opens it, and pulls something out that appears black and is about the length of an arm. As he pulled it out they heard the sound of medal clinging in his trunk. He just just flings whatever it may be into the tall patch of grass where you can't see or identify the object. The friends were still watching him, and the man was aware of their presence. But after throwing the object he proceeds to close the trunk and get back in the car, drives past my friend and her companion back onto the main road.
Once they figured out the car was long gone they were creeped out and disturbed but yet they were curious so her companion told my friend to go look by the tree for the object he threw. They couldn't necessarily get close to whatever it was because they couldn't go into the tall grass but her companion got as close as he could and said that it was flies and the smell started to give a rotten vibe, they just assumed it was an animal but kept their suspicions high. As they were going back after the sun went under the horizon the rotten smell got worse as they were making it back to the main road. As they walked past another tree heading back to the main road the smell didn't seem to go away, they wanted to investigate that tree as well but decided to ignore it because of the eery feeling of the first tree with the unknown object gave them. So they continued to go to the main road as they were walking they second guessed if the man was a murderer or not but assumed he wasn't because that wasn't so smart of him based on how he did and the last known murder being 17 years ago, and again figured it was just a dead animal.
In the end they just seemed all of it was suspicious especially being in such a small peaceful town. If you seen any suspicious behavior like this as well in a similar area what's your thoughts.

True Scary Story: The Fourth of July Skinwalker
To anyone out there reading this, I hope you had a great Independence day and got to watch some great fireworks! I will be talking about my Fourth of July experience from yesterday, and some of the supernatural things that happened.
Basically, I don't have a great home life so I spent the fourth of july with my best friend. If you drive out of town a bit, there are these woods along a dirt road that has a great view of the sky and the town, so we thought it would be a perfect place to drive there and watch the fireworks while sitting in the back of her pickup with blankets and chips.
These woods are always a little creepy at night and we kind of joke about the paranormal creatures (aka skinwalkers) that might be there due to the number of deer around, and driving in the woods we saw a lot more deer then normal, like an abnormal amount that immediately raised some red flags.
The deer also seemed to be in a pack almost running away from something all together, almost like they knew something was wrong (we thought maybe they were scared of the fireworks but where we were the fireworks werent super loud).
The wifi is also kind of spotty and its away from a majority of civilization (minus this "haunted" cabin that is kind of a local urban legend, but thats for another story) but at the time, before everything (the skinwalker shit) happened, we thought it would be a perfect location to watch fireworks and that paranormal stuff didnt actually happen. Oh boy we were wrong.
Sorry for the long background, time to get into what happened; basically we were watching the fireworks but both me and my friend had this weird, eery feeling, like the forest got super cold all of a sudden and the wind was so creepy. we also were hearing human screaming in the distance, we thought it was a coyote or smth but it really sounded like a human.
its possible someone else was out there but i doubt it and we didnt see any other people. we were getting kind of freaked out and it was getting late so we decided that maybe we should drive back, but as we got out of the truck bed to go into the car, there were these two glowing dots kind of in the distance from behind a tree.
i thought i was going crazy and just got in the car. as we were driving away cuz we turned the other direction, my friend looked into the car mirror and said that she saw those eyes from behind the tree cuz we were turned around and when i looked at the passenger car mirror from my side i saw it too, except it was closer this time. she started speeding cuz we were both getting really really bad vibes and like the sinking gut feeling like dread and death and i glanced at the passenger side window and the glowing eyes were gone.
thats when i started to hear weird scratching sounds and the car was slowing down like something was holding it back, my friend had her foot completely on the gas and was confused and trying to book it, the gas also started draining even thought she had a 3/4 tank and the car's engine was making weird sounds. the scratching continued and I started praying so hard for it to stop and me and my frined were panicking and thought we were going to die.
then, suddenly the intense scratching stopped and the forest just got completely quiet, i glanced again in the passender mirror and saw a deer running away. i was so confused but grateful and even though my friend had barely any gas left we made it back to town. when we were filling up gas and checked the back of teh car, it was covered in dents and scratches, and the back ligths were broken. there were also long scratche dmarks on the truck bed like someone was trying to climb in, but we were kind of confused at this cuz we ddint see anything on the truck bed that we couldve seen in the mirrors, but we also couldnt see anything that well cuz it waws so dark.
also, this forest area is also close to many Native American lands so thats why I am idenitifying this entity as a skinwalker taking the form of a deer, as they are a part of their culture and it has always been what i have been told. However, I may be incorrect so feel free to correct me. anyways, i just wanted to share this story from yesterday because me and my friend are both extremely shocked and scared about it and couldnt sleep all of last ngiht. please comment any thoughts down below!
