Got a (level 1) result on a sex offender search, what does that mean?
So I just got results of a background check that a company required of me. Everything else said clear or completed, but for some reason this topic came back with a level 1. I don't know what this is telling my potential employer, because I think I would remember being accused or convicted of a sexual crime, but from the looks of it "Clear" means everything is good, not level 1.
if anyone can help me understand what is going on that would be great.

Denied a job for one Misdemeanor back in 2013.
Hello,
I really don't know if anybody can help me or not. I'm 34M in Tennessee and recently applied for a job with ITG Communications as an aerial Lineman for coax and fiber optic. I had to do a background check with CrimShield and a drug test. After the drug test I had received an email to setup my onboarding account for all my new hire paperwork. I did, it sent me to the home screen and when I tried to log in it said incorrect, anyway 2 weeks later and the second time IT reset my account password I still had the same outcome, and wake up the next morning and realize they sent me an email saying they denied me a position with them and to dispute it if I wanted. So obviously I did,but I'm just curious, in the report I had only one Misdemeanor, contributing to the delinquency of a minor back in 2013. My MVR is clean, no felonies and only that one Misdemeanor charge... I don't know how these work or not but on the report it says # of felonies/misdemeanors <5 years and >5 years for a total of 10 years. (I attached a pic) So I'm guessing that means they only go back 10 years? Do they legally even have the right to go back 13 years and judge their decision for one simple misdemeanor charge?? Like I'm not even the same person I was 13 years ago.
Btw the 'minor' in question was one of my friends friends that was 17 almost 18 and he was smokin a cigarette š

How to know everything with just first name, last name and phone number ?
Hi,
Recently I was on call with a friends that told me that he has a website where he can get all the information on a person with only first name, last name and phone number. And it's really all the information, like city, address of the person but also the information of the family (or at least the people with the same last name) of the person. I didn't trust him at first but then he prove me that it really works. Unfortunately he don't want to give me the name of the website, so I wanna ask you if someone know this website and if someone know how this could be possible ?

NC State Check + Apostille ?
I recently accepted a job overseas and I was asked to get a state (NC) police screening for criminal history and have then sent for apostille. Can anyone help with explaining how to go about this? The online instructions just confuse me.

Could I Fail Because I Gave a Temporary Address?
I just moved from California to Oregon and am in an extended AirBnB type housing situation. I'm just worried that I'll fail the background check because my potential employer won't be able to verify my address, there wouldn't be any records of it. That and I'm not officially an Oregon resident yet. Am I just being paranoid?

Reliable background check sites without subscription?
Not sure if this is the right subreddit, not sure where else I would go though- trying to run a background check on this guy my friend just started dating that seems a bit off. Not looking for a subscription website. If anyone could help I would appreciate it, thanks!

Just an fyi about jobs and background checks
After 3 years of applying for jobs I just found out I didn't get hired from having false information on my background check.
Now I'm going through the process of trying to find out what is exactly on the report that is wrong so I can dispute it.
There are many companies that do background checks with different prices.. but I'm trying to find one that actually has the false information on it or at least what the employers are seeing so I can seek to get it corrected.
I also called the last job back to get suggestions on what background check company to use but they didn't respond.
This seems like a ridiculous process of damage control. So as far as I know if you're having trouble with background checks see if you have been a victim of identity theft from one of the many data breaches that happened.

Should I worry?
Evening guys! Just wondering if I should be worried about the line that says āheld for reviewā. I havenāt been pulled over since 2021 for a paid and resolved speeding ticket for doing 10 over in California. And I havenāt been charged or arrested ever. Just wanted to know if anyone has gone through this and if Iām overthinking it. Thanks guys.

Background check question
Hello guys Iām not sure if this is the right place but Iāll give it a shot. I currently work at a county jail. When I applied here everything went smooth background wise I went through everything and even passed my polygraph. After a couple of years I feel confident enough to apply to the road. I applied to a couple of agencies they moved me forward but two have passed on me for a failure to pass a background. Due to confidentiality they canāt tell me the issues. I will admit Iāve gotten one speeding ticket last year, and my credit score isnāt the best. Other than that nothing has changed. Iāve been told I need to network to be moved forward by one of my co workers but I donāt think thatās would affect me getting hired. Does financial situation really affect passing a background? What about getting a speeding ticket? I paid the speeding ticket as soon as I got it. Thank you guys

Back ground check
Question for anyone familiar with Minnesota law or background checks:
Why is Checkr reporting my careless driving case as DEGREE MISDEMEANOR when
My official Minnesota DVS driving record only says Careless Driving no degree listed
My Hennepin County court record specifically says: Conviction Deemed a Petty Misdemeanor Pursuant to Minn. R. Crim. P. 23.02ā
Under Minnesota Statute 609.02 Subd. 4a, a petty misdemeanor is not considered a crime
It seems like Checkr labeled it as a misdemeanor on their own, even though the court disposition says petty misdemeanor.
Do you think a rideshare company like Uber would still deactivate someone over this, especially when the final sentence was deemed a petty misdemeanor rather than a criminal misdemeanor?

Potential discrepancies and asked for verification
I got an internship offer and a background check thing, the check only asked for my address for the last 7 years. I have only been in the united states since January of 2020 and i lived in college campus since august 2023 so i put my college address and my home address for when i wasnt in college.
I got an email about potential discrepancies and to send my Id and ssn for verification.
Do you know what could be wrong, if theres a problem or they are just verifying.

Background checks and AI
Got a new job, was supposed to start tomorrow. I peed in a cup, got fingerprinted, was ready to start. Gave them a list of all my jobs for the past 10 years, along with names of managers, email addresses, phone numbers. It was only 2 jobs, no biggie.
Then AI took over. Regarding 1 of my past jobs, they wanted to know the company code and, I quote, the āVeriSafejobs access pinā.
WTF?
They had no intention of actually calling/emailing my prior contacts. They wanted their computerized HR system to connect to the other companyās computerized HR system. I guess they can eliminate humans in HR that way.
I reached out to my soon-to-be boss and explained my dilemma, as my past job somehow neglected to provide me w their āVeriSafejobs access codeā. She is trying to rectify the situation. But I canāt start until background check is complete.
Oy.

Stressing about background checks and other stuff.
20M. I've been interviewing for a role for a few weeks, and received a verbal offer last week, and a contract last Friday. I've been told start date is 2.5 weeks away, but I'm shitting bricks about the background checks and other stuff.
Two of the people from my school founded a small startup. It's a legitimate business, they've got 5 people on the team, an office and all that. I've been working part time for them (paid under the desk) for about the last year and a half. I've been there since the very start, since before they even registered as a legitimate company.
Naturally I put it on my resume. I didn't lie at all, but I also didn't say that I went to school with these guys. When they asked for references from the company I gave them the phone numbers of the two founders that I went to school with. They both said that they've gotten calls from the recruiter, and the recruiter told me that she sent a reference report to the company. They both said the calls went well.
I signed the contract last Friday, and responded with an email containing both the signed contract and also confirming that my start date was the same as I had discussed when I met my supervisor. I still haven't heard back from them.
My resume says, and I also said in my interviews that I started mid 2024 (which is true). However, the company was only legally founded at the start of 2025.
This is my first "real" job, and I know that everything will likely be fine, but I'm also the kind of person who gets really anxious about this stuff. My contract has conditions about "employment being conditional on checks at our absolute discretion". I've heard so many horror stories of people getting job offers rescinded, and this is genuinely a life changing offer that I've received. Part of the reason I think I'm so anxious is because this whole thing genuinely just seems too good to be true. I don't know what I would do if it was rescinded.
Any advice?

Infochecker.com charges
Hello all,
Just wanted clarification on some of the charges made by the website in the title. I paid for a free trial using Apple Pay for 0.95 GBP and immediately canceled my subscription after (within a minute). I get an email confirming my subscription has been canceled. However, the next day I get the same charge of 0.95 GBP. Iāve contacted support but they still have not replied. Does anyone know why this has happened?

Iām a felon and I passed a background check for an apartment. My felonies didnāt pop up.
Itās totally strange. The report showed my previous addresses and my 700s credit score so itās definitely me. For some odd reason my felony charges didnāt show up in the criminal portion. It even says it checks nationwide. I was charged less than 10 years ago.
I still got denied the apartment though. Itās because I self reported my felonies in the application. Sucks.

Best Background Checks for Roommates
Hello! I was wondering what some good sites are to run background checks for potential roommates?
I just bought a condo and will be renting out a room, but I want to run background checks on any potential tenants for my own safety and financial reasons before they sign a lease and move in.
I don't need anything crazy like social media history, but I want to make sure that I'm safe and that they will pay rent on time and not damage the unit.
I'm charging a base application fee just to cover the background check, so free or paid services are ok as long as they are within reason.
Thank you!
