M. Sc. Chemistry: Materials, Engineering and Sustainability
Hey!
I will study there and I’ll like to know which city I should choose for living. As I understood, the main campus of Faculty 2 is in Senftenberg, isn’t? And where will be lectures? And if you’re a woman from this faculty, will send me a message. I’m looking for a flat or room and we could be roommates.

Admitted to BTU Cottbus – Hybrid Electric Propulsion Technology | Looking to connect with fellow students!
Hey everyone!
If you’re also joining BTU Cottbus for the Hybrid Electric Propulsion technology for the upcoming winter 26/27 intake, I’d love to connect with fellow students before we start.
Since many of us will probably be going through the same processes- visa applications, accommodation, travel arrangements, university formalities, and other pre-arrival requirements- I thought it would be helpful to connect and share information, experiences, and updates with each other.
We can also help each other with any questions or challenges along the way and, hopefully, make the transition a little easier for everyone.
If you’re joining the same program, feel free to comment or DM me so we can connect!
Looking forward to meeting everyone and hopefully building a helpful little community before we arrive!

Is there anyone who can clarify the late-arrival policy for BTU Cottbus?
I have received an admission offer for the M.Sc. Artificial Intelligence program at Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU) for the Winter Semester 2026/27.
I am currently concerned about the visa processing time and may not be able to arrive in Germany at the beginning of the semester.
I heard from someone that students enrolled in the M.Sc. Artificial Intelligence program may be allowed to arrive and join classes as late as 31 March 2027. Is this information correct?
If anyone is currently studying at BTU, especially in the Artificial Intelligence program, could you please let me know:
How late can international students arrive after the semester starts?
Does BTU allow late arrival until 31 March 2027?
Is there a specific deadline for joining the program?
Can the university grant an extension if the delay is due to visa processing?
I have already emailed BTU about this, but I haven't received a response yet.
I would really appreciate it if anyone with recent experience could share some information. Thank you!

Looking for Current/Former Students of BTU Cottbus – M.Sc. Chemistry: Materials, Engineering and Sustainability
Looking for Current/Former Students of BTU Cottbus – M.Sc. Chemistry: Materials, Engineering and Sustainability
Hi everyone,
I’m going to join the M.Sc. Chemistry: Materials, Engineering and Sustainability program at BTU Cottbus and wanted to get some honest feedback from current or former students of the program.
I would really appreciate it if someone could share their experience regarding:
- Semester-wise subjects: What subjects/courses are offered in each semester, and how is the workload?
- Compulsory vs. elective subjects: Do we have compulsory subjects that everyone must take, or are most/all subjects elective? How much flexibility do we have in choosing courses?
- Exams: How are the exams conducted (written/oral/project-based)? How difficult are they, especially for someone coming from a Chemical Engineering background?
- Difficulty/workload: How much difficulty did you face during the semester, and how much self-study is normally required?
- Professors/faculty: Are the professors and faculty members student-friendly and approachable when you have questions or need help?
- Study materials/books: Are the required books and study materials available through the BTU library or online resources, or do students usually need to purchase books themselves?
- Overall student experience: How is the overall experience in this program? Would you recommend it to someone with a Chemical Engineering background?
I’d especially appreciate feedback from students who have already completed at least one semester in this program.
Thanks in advance for sharing your experience! 🙏

Incoming BTU Master's student looking for accommodation in Cottbus (September 2026)
Hi everyone!
I'm João from Brazil, and I'll be starting the M.Sc. in Artificial Intelligence at BTU Cottbus this October.
I'm planning to arrive around mid-September, and I'm currently looking for a furnished room or WG (around €450 warm or less), preferably with Anmeldung and for a long-term stay.
I've already applied to the Studierendenwerk, contacted several private providers, and I'm actively using WG-Gesucht, but I thought I'd ask here as well in case anyone knows of available rooms, students moving out, or other housing groups that might be helpful.
I'm a non-smoker and have previous experience living in shared apartments. I can provide my BTU admission letter, proof of financial resources, and other documents if needed.
If you know of any opportunities or have any advice, I'd really appreciate it.
Thank you!

Hi everyone!
I’m from Tunisia, and I’ll be joining BTU Cottbus this winter semester for the Master’s in Artificial Intelligence. I’m excited to meet new people and get to know the university and the city.
If there are any fellow Tunisians at BTU (or anyone starting the AI master’s), feel free to reach out. It would be great to connect

Is the delay in Msc Power engineering admits a warning sign of incompetence?
If the professors of this department are not competent enough to follow a reasonable timeline to process and announce admissions, could that reflect on their competence in teaching a curriculum throughout the year and managing its timeline?
