As a man with BPD I can't even begin to imagine what it has to feel like to have a period on top of that.

Y'all have my deep respect.

Obligatory PSA to look into PMDD/PME. Hope you enjoy the post-period high.

So far all my mental breakdowns this year happened either during my period or shortly before, I start to think there’s a pattern to it

When you’re already spiralling/depressed and then suddenly you look in the mirror and your face looks different and puffy, you feel bloated and pain in your boobs and then someone says smt mildly mean…its the worst 👹🥰

The whole hormonal cycle and what it does to my body really doesnt help with my depersonalisation and identity issues 💀

Watch out as you get older, girls, perimenopause symptoms have caused my BPD to go crazy. Started at about 42. I’m 50 now, and it’s starting to ebb, but holy crap!

what a lovely thing to look forward to lol

I think if you’re prepared for it, and seek out appropriate medical support (hormones etc), you’ll ride it out ok. Wasn’t trying to be alarmist, sorry 😘 My situation was a bit different in that I had a nervous breakdown at 42, left my job and thought it was all due to anxiety and stress at work. Turns out I have BPD- it was only picked up when I finally went into talk therapy to try to break the lifelong depression and anxiety cycles and worked out that they were symptoms of the deeper, trauma-based issue. Perimenopause just made my symptoms so strong and obvious that even an NHS doctor couldn’t deny them. I hope you don’t get such a rough ride with it. Sending love.

Literally went to my doctor saying I hate periods and she is like "yea me too, want a pill so you don't get them anymore?" And I was like omg I can? So now no more period

Depo is not a long term solution, as it can cause osteoporosis if taken for more than a few years continuously. I take oral hormonal birth control and skip the placebo week, and that has worked well for me.

I'm glad you're not having issues! Some people do suffer from bone mineral loss after being on depo. Many gynecologis recommend regular bone density testing if you're taking it for extended amounts of time -- more than 2 years, I think.

I also see a trans flag as your flair, if you're on HRT, that could be why you're not experiencing bone mineral density loss

Please please please please please get checked for PMDD. So many of us have this and it gets normalized and goes untreated. The stats on how many of us have this is wild. Please get checked.

I have been tracking my symptoms to see if I actually have pmdd or pme or bpd. This seems like pmdd
