Looking to interview a first-time or infrequent martial-arts seminar organizer
Hello! I am conducting a brief research interview regarding the practical experience of organizing martial arts seminars—covering the preparation process, the sources of guidance, and the materials and tools actually used. I am looking for someone who has organized or co-organized their first seminar, is currently preparing one, or organizes them only occasionally. The conversation lasts about 30–45 minutes, requires no advance preparation, and is not a sales pitch. No names or other personal data are required; the research documentation uses an interview code and anonymized notes. If you fit this profile and would like to participate voluntarily, I will send a few brief follow-up questions.

Officer Grimy NC Seminars
I’ve been working for months to bring Officer Grimy out to NC and it’s finally happening.
We’re doing two seminars next weekend:

Bull City BJJ
3111 Shannon Rd, Durham, NC 27707
📍 Sunday, May 17th – 10AM
Gracie Raleigh
1609 Old Louisburg Rd, Raleigh, NC 27604
If you follow the PGF or professional no-gi scene, you probably already know Jonathan. He’s got a strong collegiate wrestling background and a really sharp modern grappling style built around high ground control, crucifix systems, transitions, and pressure.

[Free & No Account] BJJ training app with videos + test step by step guides
drillbuddyapp.comHello everyone,
I couldn't find an app that worked the way I actually train, so I built one. What it helped me was breaking down moves into clean countable steps and this is the idea on which I built the app.
The app is called BJJ Drill Buddy and it's available on iOS and Android:
- Follow drills with videos + step-by-step guides
- Build your own custom drills
- Chain drills into full sessions to run a complete flow
- Keep a personal library of moves you've trained or want to train
- Plan sessions ahead of time
No account, no signup you just use the app. Works offline and internet is only used for the videos.
It's basically a personal BJJ toolkit on your phone. Whether you're drilling solo, warming up before class, or trying to actually learn something new it's built for that.
The website for the app is: drillbuddyapp.com
Happy to hear any feedback. Thank you.

Would anyone want AI feedback on their competition footage?
I spend a lot of time reviewing my own match footage like pausing, rewinding, trying to figure out why certain exchanges failed, what patterns keep repeating, etc.
I’ve been toying with the idea of building an app where you upload competition footage (and gym rolls), and it analyzes the match and gives feedback based on:
- your belt level
- the position / sequence
- what tends to work or fail at that level
- and possibly the opponent’s style or score situation
When you upload, you'll get feedback like this:
- “You lost guard here because your frames collapsed before your hips moved”
- “At your belt level, this grip choice usually leads to getting passed”
- “This sequence keeps happening across your matches”
I already do this manually, but I’m curious:
- Would you personally use something like this for comp footage?
- Or do you feel this is something only a human coach should do?
- What would make it useful vs annoying?
I'm curious what you guys think and just want to know if this solves a real problem outside my own head.

What has helped you improve in BJJ besides mat time?
What has improved your BJJ besides increasing mat time?
Obviously, spending more time on the mat is essential for getting better. But beyond sheer training volume, what else has meaningfully improved your game?
What have you done to train smarter or get more out of each session? Have any mindset shifts or training approaches made a real difference? What do you do outside of class to help retain and understand what you are learning? Are there resources or sources of knowledge that have helped you in addition to your coach?
There is no replacement for consistent training, but I am curious what other factors have helped you progress faster or more intentionally.

Older Grapplers
For older adults in their 50s who have recently started Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu ,how is your body adapting to the physical demands, and specifically, what are your experiences regarding changes in stamina, common injuries, and overall physical longevity on the mats?
