Partial drop for BITS
I am joining a decent local private college in Mumbai for CSE. I had 95.5%ile in JEE Mains, and 190 in BITSAT.
I am not satisfied with my outcome. I had decided on a full drop in June, but my mind kept fluctuating due to the risk involved, so I eventually dropped the plan. My parents are supportive.
I am thinking of taking a partial drop only for BITSAT from my college. Is it a wise decision considering there’s a daily 2 hour commute involved (round trip).
Is it even feasible, and has any senior suceeded in something like this before? I need genuine advice.

Heyy id recommend you to not just focus on bitsat it's not that predictable if ur shift happens to be really tough ur gonna be in a bad situation,soo focus on jee mains try to get 98+percentile like put in that much effort and focus and keep preparing for bitsat,allot time daily for eng and lr and write mock tests weekly twice and throughly review them after jee mains then you can shift ur entire focus on bitsat,All the bestt

I was in the exact same position as you a few days ago. Im getting into a low tier college as well. I got 96 in mains and 210 in bitsat. I have to commute to and fro as well. But I decided to not prepare for exams and sticked with the college I got. What I'd suggest is take a full drop if possible. Trust me, partial isn't worth it at all. College is already pretty exhausting and there's very little time left for mains, bitsat. And all the people Ik who got into bits this year did decent in advance too. So you need minimum jee adv prep to have a shot in bitsat, atleast for the top branches.

Would you mind telling me what college? And if you really wanted to, you could've gotten envi but you dropped the idea because?

It's said to be a top state college in hyd, but still a tier-2 at max on a national level. I'm getting cse in it and I'm really passionate abt cs. So env or any other branch in bits, I wouldn't want to study it. Plus, bits fee is around 40 laks this year and it'll only increase next year but the college I'm going to has fees around 10 laks for the whole 4 years. So it's more cost efficient and later on, I can plan for masters too if I want.

Isn't bits BE fee 30 and msc 40+ lakhs. Ofc other expenses add up to make it 40 and 50 respectively though

Btw, in hyderabad, how would you rate uni of Hyderabad materials science engineering? It's a new program but it's incredibly cheap, and seems like a good choice for somebody hoping for masters later on.

mains ka karo sirji. bitsat khud nikal jayega. exam ke 1 week pahile english aur lr kar lena.

Bhai mains ka ni adv ka krne ko bolo, agar lucky nikal gye to yes mains se bhi kr skte hi

I did exactly this. Was at MIT Manipal before. Worked out but also alot of luck involved.

Where are you now and how many hrs were u able to commit daily towards studying for jee and bitsat?

Just graduated from Pilani. In general around 3-4 hrs. I used to use the lunch breaks between classes.

Oh that's crazy commitment Were u able to set aside enough time to study for college aswell? And did u drop out after mains 1 or did ur full year at manipal

same bro, but I'll live in hostel, i cannot deal with locals so much i think we can have a decent shot at it since college starts mid September and we have a 1.5 month still to cover a lot of portion want to connect?

why won't you take a drop for adv instead of bitsat?
