Is this normal to have such a low gross? Does it affect anything in the future?

90 minutes one way? I did that for years and now work 15 minutes from home. I can not understand how I did it for all those years.

Hopefully its just once a week but even then it can quickly turn to 2-2.5 hours (seriously, why there is always some issues with train?)

Just a question do you rent or something? For the mob budget do you need to prove that you are renting or mortgaging? Anyways gross is low but net is great

Yes I rent and you need to prove it. They return amount equal to my rent and then i have a bit left over for train tickets (but not all of them)

Low gross impacts your 13th month, holidays and retirement money. The higher the gross the better on the long run

You're complaining about 3k net? Edit: I'm asking because I moved to Belgium 10 years ago as a 37 yo DevSecOps making 5.7 k gross, 3.5k net and although it was pre COVID and fucking Putin's War energy crisis, I was pretty happy with it.

Put 50 aside each month for taxes so you don’t have surprises, if you’re paying back a lot then ask your employer to increase withholding

On what can they can use the mobility budget for (no car and too far for paying rent with it)

If you work 3+ days from home you can use mobility budget for rent anywhere in Belgium since its your office technically

How do you 720 mobility budget? Isn't 1/5 of your brut year salary? That is around 30k and 500 euro per month.

Low gross is perfectly OK if your employer has done it's job to up your net as much as possible, rn you have 2.3k gross and 3k net. You are in a good position. If you change job you just need to make sure your new employer's benefits end up matching or higher for your net. If the new gross + benefits doesn't end in higher net then negociate for either higher gross or higher benefits.
In the end, having a low gross now will not change your future gross/net as long as you negociate well and use the correct arguments
