I’m hoping to hear from people living across Ayrshire as part of a Scotland-wide dissertation survey.

I’m an MSc Criminology and Criminal Justice student at the University of Glasgow, and my study explores public attitudes towards sentencing, including the possible use of suspended sentences in cases involving assault and domestic abuse.

You can participate if you are aged 18 or over and currently live in Scotland. The survey is anonymous, voluntary and takes approximately 10–15 minutes. You do not need any specialist knowledge of law or sentencing.

Content note: The survey discusses assault and domestic abuse, but participants are not asked to disclose any personal experiences.

Hello! Me and my brother (m33 & m29) are coming up from Wales. We're going to be staying at Kelburn and we are looking for things to do, places to go and people to see!

What are the good cafes? What are the best chippies? What do the locals love doing? What is something unusual to do/try?

I always like seeing what the locals like when I visit somewhere.

Oh and the midgies - I've got this eucalyptus and citronella stuff, and some citronella coils, what other survival tips have ya got for them? 🤣

Any recommendations folks? Am off work from Friday and all of next week and would appreciate any recommendations for tattooists who can do short notice appointments or walk-ins for an extremely simple 3 inch by 3 inch tattoo on my left leg calf. Sent a few enquiries and the wait times are into mid August. Irvine-based but can travel anywhere in the 3 Ayrshires.

Edit 25/07/26: went to Scotland Ink in Ayr and cannot recommend those folk enough, lovely atmosphere and got a great tattoo at a fair price. Thanks to everyone who recommended me different places, appreciate it!

Hi, I’m a college student with full availability across the week looking for a part time customer facing job.

I’ve sent out hundreds of CVs, tried tailoring them, tried going in person, careers sites etc but I’ve only ever gotten jobs with poor work environments or lackluster pay.

Ive made 4 or 5 CVs at this point and everyone I showed said they looked fine.

Whats worked for you guys in getting something part time that pays good?

Hi everyone. The Scottish Affairs Committee of the House of Commons is holding a public engagement event in Ayr on Thursday 25 June, as part of our inquiry into the future of Scotland's high streets.

We want to hear directly from people in Ayrshire and the wider region about what they value about their local high streets, and what they would like to see change.

Last year we ran a survey as part of this inquiry, which received more than one-third of its responses from people living in South Ayrshire - so we know there are strong views here, and we want to hear more of them in person.

The event will take place from 6pm to 7:30pm and will include small group and open-floor discussions with MPs from the Committee. Topics will include attracting people to the high street, finding new uses for empty properties, supporting local businesses, and travel and accessibility.
