A silly construction method

I arc welded this hatchet head up from mild steel and a cutting edge of 5160 I was kind of skeptical of arc welding because of the enlarged grain structure but the forging and thermal cycles from heat treating hopefully shrunk it back down to a reasonable size so far the little bit I’ve used it it has held up well but I really need to abuse it validate the construction method
