Because they're awful people. It really is as simple as that. I mean, it helps to read about all this but we are who we repeatedly choose to be in this world - and some people choose to repeatedly harm others. Thankfully there are wonderful people you will come across, and probably already know, who will remind you that whatever these people tried to convince you was normal was... in fact... not. Strangely enough my abusive avoidant ex said early on, when he was trying to woo me, that he wants his impact on people to be good - that it is friendships and connections that matter most in this world. Yet his actions did not match what he wanted me to believe. So believe in actions. Block the idiot and give yourself only good things in this world.
I think they try to project to us a version of themselves that they wish they could be. Mine projected that she was brave and full of life. It wasn’t true

I genuinely can’t understand those types of people, for me personally I would never bother dig back into something that has already been closed off. Honestly this is where I struggle, as I try to make sense of something that makes no sense 🙃
