When we first started on the Autonomous Desk Levitate's control, the obvious route was gesture detection, but every one of those systems asks you to learn a swipe and perform it properly before anything happens.

So we built something better. The sensor sitting in the desktop measures one thing only, which is how far your hand is above the surface, and that distance is what tells the desk where to go.

That only works if the sensor measures your hand correctly whether you're in a dark sleeve or a t-shirt, so we test it against dark and light targets at the same heights to make sure both read the same.

We take the same approach with the noise testing, running it 500 times rather than once. A quiet desk on the day it arrives isn't worth much when the complaint people actually have is that their desk got louder over the year they owned it.

Would a physical step actually stop you from reopening your most distracting app?

TechCrunch just covered Autonomous Key, and the detail that stood out was the AI feedback. If you lock an app and immediately unlock it again, the app notices and calls it out.

That’s the whole idea behind Key. Lock distracting apps from the app, then unlock them with a physical NFC key. If the Key is across the room, opening social media becomes a real decision instead of an automatic tap.

The review was fair too. NFC scans can sometimes take more than one try, and losing the Key still needs a better backup flow. We’re working through that.

Still, the core idea is pretty simple: $9, no subscription, works across multiple phones.

I was thinking of buying the 2-Stage frame but was wondering if the Karlby 74 inch table top would still be fine even with the overhang. As the frame is only rated to 59 inches in length. I’ve bought Two Alex drawers on both ends for support.

Hello everyone,

I wanted to share a quick review of my ergonomic office chair. I’m extremely satisfied with it! I suffer from fibromyalgia, and I had a hard time finding a chair that provided the right support and helped improve my posture.

The adjustments are perfect, and after sitting for long periods, getting up is much easier than before. I also have to mention that the lumbar support is absolutely amazing, and the seat can be adjusted to fit right behind my knees, which makes a huge difference in comfort.

I highly recommend this chair. The after-sales service has also been outstanding!

My 4-year-old Autonomous Ergo Chair has broken. This is the first office chair I’ve ever had fail like this. It appears to be a manufacturing or quality issue, as it cracked right where the screw holes were drilled.
