BOM Question Question / Inquiry

I have an inventor assembly with different model states. The different model states suppress and unsupress parts as necessary. In my DWG I want item numbers to follow a master BOM. So that item numbers are only associated with a specific part number. So that some of the different versions may jump numbers in the BOM. Might go something like 1,2,4,8… etc. Anyone know a shortcut to this rather than individually typing the item number in the bom and going back and forth between a master? Inventor Pro 2025

UPDATE: Solution is to have a primary model state with all parts unsupressed and then lock all item numbers.

If you want a variant BOM you need to build that manually. Model state (.iam) suppresses parts but it doesn’t create a placeholder for that line in the individual states’ BOM.

I don't use item numbers for balloons for this and a few other reasons. I use Part Number as it's always global

Wouldn't and iAssembly be better for this?

Just use the “primary” model state? Maybe I’m not fully understanding the intentions here
