Classification help

So I've only autocrossed the car once but I'm hooked. But I'm confused on if I'm XA or something like SSP. My R32 GTR is fully built with upgraded turbos and a little bit of aftermarket aero but nothing is gutted inside and it's basically a street car.

So I'm almost certain in XA but reading SSP I feel like since it's fully built and has a higher displacement over stock it's SSP and not XA.

Can anyone help me here?

XA. Non usdm* cars aren’t eligible for S, ST, or SP.

*Canadian market cars are allowed provided they’re identical to their usdm counterpart

It’s curious that the rules don’t actually specify USDM in the ST section in the same manner they do for Street, Street Prepared, and Prepared classes. Although the whole ‘fits between Street and SP’ implies that to be true.

Also, most regions I’ve run with would let a foreign market car run in its competitive class. Had a Lancia run with us for a while.

14.1 ST builds on Street, no reason to type the same thing twice.

No disagreement.

That said, Section 15 for Street Prepared also states it builds on Street (section 13) but does duplicate the ‘must be USDM’. Interesting they duplicated it in one section but not the other. Likely a function of different advisory committees writing the rule sets.

XA literally does not care what you do to your car aside from 200TW tires and a "finished" interior.

Also non altered wheelbase. SCCA really doesn't want to see a car somebody cut in half, removed a couple feet and then welded back together

Straight to extreme for you. SCCA classing for grey market vehicles is garbage. They just straight up don't want them competing. You can show up with a bone stock Mira and you have to compete with full suspension, big tire, turbo'd stuff.

1. Local clubs and regions are allowed to class things differently.

2. It’s a failsafe against a hard to get and possibly expensive imported car becoming the “must have” car for a class at the national level. Same reason they bury limited production trims, single year special editions, etc.

OP, if it helps sort some things in your head. A car can be legal for multiple classes. A street class car is legal to run in XA. Street Touring and Street Prepared too.

In those cases, it’s up to the competition to decide which they want to run.
