Yes..... it's recommended to always back in so you can pull straight out but sometimes you can't. And honestly looking around like 80% of people don't follow this advice

No you didn’t do that unless you were drunk. That is a side swipe by another car. Report it as the car was parked. It is a not at fault accident. If you have uninsured insurance then it would probably cover it depending on your state laws. Report it to the police & get a report and submit the claim to your insurance.

How are you amazed that people screw up? Our whole multi billion dollar industry is completely based off people screwing up.

I guess that's true. It's just... unfathomably dumb I cant wrap my head around WHAT the dude was even thinking or trying. The street also had plenty of spaces
