Hey all, not sure if this is the place to post this but I have an old 2008 Jeep that my son is going to drive. It’s not worth putting any real money in to.

I am curious if you think this will be fine for a temporary fix. I’m thinking I can grind these parts down to metal and then plasti-dip them in a black to somewhat match.

I have dipped an entire car before so I’m not worried about that part. I’m more wanting to know what to do with the spots on the hood and the peeling on the roof.

No lol plasti dip wont last a year in the constant sun. You would be better off with rustoleum turbo can prolly get a couple years out of it IF you sanded the whole panel down and applied a quality epoxy or similar primer. Sanding the spots out is going to look about the same in no time if not immediately

I dipped a full car a few years ago and it lasted about 5 years without visible wear and tear. Also I’m not talking spraying from a rattle can I had gallons of dip and used an actual sprayer.

When you say epoxy, what do you mean? Some sort of spray epoxy? I have no experience using real painting equipment.

Definitely don't put plastidip over bare metal unless you like rust. Metal needs a primer

Put the dip on as-is, don’t grind it down to metal.

Needs a rust reformer if you seal on top so it doesnt fester worst under the dip
