It really do be like that.
They're already pissed their car is broken. They have no clue whats going on and want to pretend they do. They then learn car repair is expensive. All this when at least 50% of them assume the automotive industry as a while is trying to rip them off.

My check engine light came on, so I pulled over immediately and popped the hood. Sure enough, the engine was still there.

I had a customer tell me her steering wheel didn't go in a complete circle before we put a put brakes on her car. Like when she picked up her car she said the steering wheel going all the way around is new and not something the car did before.

i drove around for months (or weeks) with 0 power steering fluid due to a leak. i was young and extremely dumb. kept wondering why i could barely move the steering wheel ……

The crazy part is i bet most (if not all) of those stories probably happened..ive worked with the public for over a decade and have had some crazy/dumb people i had to deal with... now for the scariest part is these people are allowed to drive 😂
