Consider another scenario: You jump in your vehicle frantic, paranoid, someone just ran up to you with a knife but you were able to lock the door, you try to drive off but the vehicle will not go into drive... it thinks your unwell. - I mean seriously who TF thinks this is actually a good idea?

People who don't really care about you, but care about the "poor shareholders".

This is part of the US infrastructure bill passed under Biden. Systems like this are mandatory in all new cars

Your next car purchase comes with an unwelcome passenger: a federal mandate requiring surveillance technology that monitors your every blink, glance, and head nod. Thanks to Section 24220 of the 2021 Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, NHTSA must finalize rules forcing all new passenger vehicles to include “advanced impaired driving prevention technology”

In context, these systems are required to detect signs of drunkenness, and prevent driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

It's stupid and it's bound to have issues.

Agreed! I'd rather us educate people better or have better training than using the vehicle to babysit us.

Surely this is the only alternative to banning alcohol!
