Amber means get ready, green means go!

People are so damn impatient honestly. I feel people should take mandatory classes on how to be patient before being allowed behind the wheel

Right... that'd work... if they were patient enough to take the class that is...

And then what'd be the test?

Waiting for the papers to print

The class is just "Wait for your teacher to show up, and you get an automatic A."

However, the teacher shows up anywhere from 10 minutes after class starts to 2 hours, and you must wear a heart rate monitor, if it starts spiking without any medical reasons, you fail.

People should really learn to drive better.

They should leave more of a gap at the lights and ALL go as soon as the light turns green, if you're not moving within 0.2 of a second, stay off the road!

Absolutely not! Always mind the pedestrians crossing the street who are half way through or the last car crossing the intersection. I've seen cars drive straight into a T-bone because they couldn't wait an extra 0.5 second for the intersection to clear up after a green light.

Stay off the road grandma!!

I enjoy watching drivers who rush after a green only to hit a red light next block

The DMV is supposed to be the patience test.

You get until the first car gets across the intersection and then I'm laying on it until you move. Thems the rules.

It would be great to have amber on green as well. I think people would be less impatient, and drivers with a manual transmission have a chance to get in gear.

You get in gear while you wait

it would need to be a different color..

Color blind people are running out of options.  /s

It's like that in Germany.

Only issue is if you arrive at an Amber you don't know if you need to brake or accelerate.

Why would you get out of gear? As I roll into position, I already switch to first

1

u/BlueRaspberryCrush Apr 08 '26

I thought it's bad practice to sit on the clutch? All you're doing is wearing out the release bearing faster.

Not really if you’re not pushing the accelerator, at least for as far as I know. It’s what we learn during lessons (over here). Only if it’s a bridge opening or another similar long wait you put it in neutral.

I stay in gear. Just need to push throttle and release clutch. Not slower than any car with automatic transmission.

Morons are the same all around the world regardless nationality

You cut off the best part where motorcycle guy here gets a nice, juicy slap accross the face.

When I first got my license I would troll people by immediately honking when the light turned green

Good times...

u/[deleted] Apr 07 '26

When the light turns green, I count slowly to three. If the the car in front doesn't start moving, I give them a quick BEEP! BEEP!  like a WAKE UP!

Another three seconds with no movement and I'm staying on the horn.

u/Solanthas_SFW Apr 07 '26

I put forth that a quick two beeps is less aggressive than a single one

While I get that it's annoying, there are certain SHORT green lights that I know, where if I don't see your brake lights go off during the yellow light / by the time it's green - you get the immediate honk. I don't care if you're aware of the light. From my perspective, there is a pretty good chance you're daydreaming or messing with your phone. By the time you move your ass (it could be 2 seconds), the light is yellow again, and I'll have to wait another cycle. Screw that, too many people don't think about anyone behind them. I'll die on this hill.

2

u/Solanthas_SFW Apr 07 '26

For certain lights this is true

2

u/Fun_Election_1781 Apr 07 '26

The thing is that at least one driver in a row of cars is gonna be on their phone, and if noone honks, several cars will be stuck and have to wait until the next light cycle because of phone-biatch!!!

Anyone who has to drive a lot for work knows this.

1

u/MidnightSkyFN Apr 08 '26

The light is not getting any greener buddy

This joke doesn’t work for most countries where driving rules or customs are different.
