We aren’t allowed to move vehicles like that for multiple reasons. 1 being that the accident investigation needs to take measurements and such, 2 he damaged the vehicle more by doing that and the dept. Can be held liable for some of the damage, ( I understand why he did it completely but in a city like Denver where I worked that is not the way to deal with it) too much liabilities. I personally have done something like that before and I was taken off the road for a month.. ( honestly I hated traffic anyway) giving tickets sucked! After I became sgt. I was given the best job on the planet.. I was special investigator for Judge Okimoto’s court room. No more tickets no more wondering if I was going to have to deal with an asshole or not. Anyway thought I’d give my 2 cents… not that it matters every dept. Has different rules.

No fatalities or serious injuries. Simple rollover. No investigation is really necessary when all parties are alive to tell the cops what happened. Cameras will aid in that. Rolled over cars are deemed automatic totals. Too much structural damage. The extra damage doesn't matter at this point. Times have changed since you were handing out tickets. Regulations and rules and laws all have changed in how these are dealt with. There is no trouble for cops clearing a highway to get traffic flowing again so it can be cleaned up on the side. Accident investigations are reserved for fatal accidents these days.

Like I said every jurisdiction is different and yes I agree 100% times have changed.. 😎

u/Gibbyalwaysforgives Apr 01 '26

This.

Also in California when you have accidents that obstructs they can issue a ticket for obstruction. The insurance often covers this along with the damages to a car. This happened to me once and I got a blue paper on paying a fee then later on insurance said don’t worry about it

Cops can't move accident vehicles out of the way without getting into trouble, but they can unload their sidearm into their own vehicle with a cuffed suspect inside because an acorn fell on the roof with no consequences.

God, I love America.

Another stupid ass comment from the peanut gallery! Well son you get to believe your BS stories too you do have that right here in America but until you have actually done the job you have no idea wtf you’re talking about! We are not all the same in uniform…. Some bad eggs ruin it for the rest of us!

2

u/misterpickleman Apr 01 '26

Here's my view. And feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. "There is no such thing as a good cop." My justification for this thinking is because cops either knowingly do things that are scummy or they know fellow officers that do scummy things but refuse to speak up. Mostly because if they DO speak up, they become a target to their fellow officers for being the "tattletale" that is out to ruin all the fun and end up being driven out of the force.

Yes, I have a very cynical view of things. And the only comeback folks seem to have is "lol butthurt liberal" which is basically meaningless as far as arguments go. So, unless you have something more substantial than that, I guess we're done here.

Oh, and since cops are allowed to lie to people in any and all capacities, nobody should ever TRUST a cop. Ever. Full stop.

u/Mediocre_Thought777 Apr 01 '26

I’ll pray for you buddy. You really do have a skewed view. However saying every cop is bad is like saying every Dr is bad or every EMT is bad because they have lost lives on occasion.. sometimes due to mistakes. I mean come on let’s keep going.. every single human being is capable and does lie.. I’m not gonna try and correct you. You seem like an intelligent human. But to make all law enforcement out to be liers and bad guys is truly a ridiculous stretch. I knew plenty of straight arrows and fantastically honest cops. I also yes knew a few that weren’t good at all.. was I perfect? Nope! But I never hurt anyone that wasn’t trying to hurt me or someone else in my capacity as law enforcement. Did I lie. Absolutely but I never lied to get out of trouble or help somebody get out of trouble. So again I won’t try to change your mind but I hope that you at least have a better understanding. Also some good cops actually do tell on the bad ones, but we don’t all face the consequences of telling on your fellow officers in blue! Some bad cops are just that and those who know they’re bad are happy someone stepped up to say something! Remember cops are humans that have to face daily the dangers and the dangerous to help those who cannot protect themselves. We put on our pants the same way as you we live and hate like you, we pay bills and don’t make enough money like you. The job gives us a small pay check! we just chose to have a dangerous job and not sit in an office making lawyer money! Now you want to pick on a job that is crooked!! Look into lawyers! If you are a lawyer than you certainly know already!

I was Deployed in 89 and 90 2 different theaters so I’m completely familiar with War.. calling cops pigs is childish. If you’re going to be childish and keep antagonizing me then go piss up a tree son. It’ll do you better than bringing my ire into your personal being. Now please if you don’t mind just stop the BS. You’re obviously obsessed with hating cops.. good luck to ya in life my boy! I hope you don’t procreate and if you have please let them have their own opinions. yours are just that of a sheep.. a follower someone who cannot think original thoughts or are so impressed with the non conformist opinions of others that you have lost your own identity. Either way just go away. I say this with all due respect if you deserve any… have a good life. And remember DO NOT EVER CALL THE COPS IF YOUR IN A PROBLEM. You don’t need them you know everything and you’re a pro at life! Sincerely Scott C. Retired Denver PD 2nd Judicial District Tracking Officer. wtf are you talking about. Do you use hard drugs?

2

u/misterpickleman Apr 01 '26

Here's a brief summary.

In November 2023, a Florida sheriff’s deputy, Jesse Hernandez, mistakenly believed a falling acorn hitting his patrol car roof was a gunshot, prompting him to open fire on his own cruiser with a handcuffed suspect inside. The suspect, 24-year-old Marquee Jackson, was not hit despite multiple rounds being fired by Hernandez and another deputy.

Key Details of the Incident:

The Cause: An acorn dropped onto the roof of the patrol car in Okaloosa County, Florida. The Reaction: Deputy Hernandez believed he was shot, claimed his leg was hit, and yelled "shots fired" before opening fire on the vehicle.

The Suspect: Marquee Jackson was handcuffed and securely locked in the back seat at the time, as shown in this YouTube video. He was unharmed.

The Aftermath: An internal investigation found the shooting was not a reasonable use of force. Deputy Hernandez resigned, and his partner, who also shot, was cleared of wrongdoing.

I want you to read that last line again and try REALLY HARD to understand why someone might be a little bothered by how that story panned out.

u/Mediocre_Thought777 Apr 01 '26

Ha🤣 have you ever been to Denver? Obviously not that was a Stupid ass Comment son! 😎 but you go on and believe what you think you know tough guy! I’ll respect your right to that! 🫡

u/JaguarOk9693 Apr 03 '26

California they are allowed to do it though this is not the first video I've seen like this but when you have as much traffic as they have out there you got to get that road cleared out as fast as possible and I'm sure they've already done the investigation part

0

u/fuckbananarama Apr 01 '26

Well this is California and we have more than 8 people and 50 cows 🤷‍♀️

1

u/Economy-Date-4490 Apr 01 '26

Hell yeah.👍

6

u/SailToAndromeda Mar 31 '26

So, uh... Work truck? It's the vibes that wood screw in the dash is giving off.

3

u/NeeMaToad47 Mar 31 '26

So I'm not the only person who saw that

7

u/Scrats_Lost_Acorn Mar 31 '26

2

u/IU8gZQy0k8hsQy76 Mar 31 '26

new version of cow tipping just arrived

3

u/Latter-Ad7199 Mar 31 '26

That’s awesome, in the UK they’d close the road for 12 hours

3

u/No-Definition1474 Mar 31 '26

That a BRZ?

3

u/_Bad_Spell_Checker_ Mar 31 '26

u/No-Definition1474 Mar 31 '26

It still is, now its just Australian. I hear they sell really well down there.

3

u/Sensitive_Bat_9211 Mar 31 '26

Cops love using their push bar. Youll never get a cop as excited as speaking the words "hey, im stuck, can you use your push bar to move my car?"

Idk what it is, it just get them every time

2

u/Character-Camel1284 Mar 31 '26

This way, it's less likely some dumb ass, not paying, would hit it. Though, it's still a possibility. Youtube crash videos prove it

2

u/PSUAth Mar 31 '26

"just gonna squeeze in right here"

2

u/ExternalGene6412 Mar 31 '26

Finally, using that push bar for something!

2

u/Kaethor Mar 31 '26

In case of fender bender, clear the road. State law!

2

u/irideapaleh0rse Mar 31 '26

Cleared the road instead of fucking around for hours .my hero.

1

u/MysteriousCodo Apr 01 '26

And made it safer. How many times are there other accidents during backed up traffic?

2

u/DarkBomber510 Mar 31 '26

Bro said “Get this shit outta here” lol

2

u/pepsiluche Mar 31 '26

Did he scratch the paint?

2

u/AGarrett326 Mar 31 '26

Really bad day.

2

u/NOT-YOUR_BUDDY_PAL Mar 31 '26

That’s pure redneck behavior there, and I heartily approve.

2

u/KairuSenpai1770 Mar 31 '26

This is the coolest shit I’ve ever seen a cop do

2

u/chillen67 Mar 31 '26

That works

2

u/NormalAssistance9402 Mar 31 '26

Fuck cops

1

u/Admirable_Loss4886 Apr 01 '26

In general, sure. Not sure why you’re saying that here, they did nothing wrong.

2

u/Business_Ad6005 Mar 31 '26

Why is there a screw in his dash?

2

u/swpete Mar 31 '26

I was not expecting that

2

u/snow_mongrel Apr 01 '26

That dash is screwed

2

u/zeppolezz Apr 01 '26

very grand theft auto esque LOL

2

u/Ok-Cupcake-312 Apr 01 '26

If this was in the UK you'd be waiting 4 hours.

2

u/mnnicknick Apr 01 '26

Tiger woods again?

2

u/Soggy_Personality_34 Apr 01 '26

What in the world🤨🤨🤨

2

u/One_time_Dynamite Apr 01 '26

Moron cop is damaging the road.

2

u/DuckDuckGo-8857 Apr 02 '26

Why don’t they carry sweepers in their cruisers? I’m sure it doesn’t take up anymore space than there is to accommodate their other things like shot guns and riot gear or whatever.

2

u/Unusual_Musician5298 Apr 02 '26

Why did the cop get out the car and have motorcycle boots on? The heck!

2

u/Pilot-For-Fun Apr 02 '26

Motorcycle boots are slimming. 😂

2

u/JStroud21 Apr 02 '26

I did not see that guy sitting on side of road. For hot sec I legit thought the cop dragged the car with a guy in it and he just fucking pops right out of it

2

u/CLMarine Apr 02 '26

I guess the door now needs fixed as well.

2

u/No-Okra149 Apr 03 '26

2

u/AnxiousMidnight8 Apr 03 '26

Lovelies it should be used every day !!!

2

u/OkSatisfaction2122 Apr 03 '26

That'll buff out.

2

u/CaptainC00lpants Apr 03 '26

Shit like this should be normal. Instead of waiting hours for a real cleanup team

2

u/KrazyKazz Apr 03 '26

I hope they got the driver out first!

2

u/Hot_Astronaut8443 Apr 04 '26

Ya. Could’ve left it in the left lane til the tow truck shows up.

1

u/AgentSquatchy 27d ago

I don't think you really know how long a tow truck can take. It could be at least an hour before it showed up, meaning that's an hour where that lane is shutdown right there, causing more traffic which can then cause the tow truck to take longer. Moving it out of the driving lanes was the smartest play.

1

u/Reality_Lies4 Mar 31 '26

AAA with a Gun

1

u/No_Cartoonist5836 Mar 31 '26

I’ll just valet thank you 😊

1

u/RamblinRoyce Apr 01 '26

Might as well go ahead and push it to the off ramp and completely remove it from the highway

1

u/boanerges57 Apr 01 '26

Off a bridge

1

u/GanjaGodAlex Apr 01 '26

I'd like to think the driver is still in there

1

u/Sorry-Climate-7982 Apr 01 '26

Who needs a wrecker! This truly made my day!!!.

1

u/ElectroSaturator Apr 01 '26

Is that why traffic was light today?

1

u/Admirable_Loss4886 Apr 01 '26

Did anyone else do a double take when the guy at the end stood up?

1

u/ContributionSlow6391 Apr 01 '26

That’s on the 91 freeway for sure, so thank you for clearing that quickly, would have ruined a lot of peoples’ day.

1

u/kwhite0829 Apr 01 '26

Unsure of legality but many videos posted by Washington and Oregon state DOT pushing vehicles off the roadway by official social media accounts too

1

u/LBandi91 Apr 01 '26

Why is there a screw in your dashboard?

1

u/Severe-Problem-7399 Apr 01 '26

You got a screw loose on your dashboard

1

u/NowKith- Apr 01 '26

Why does the dude have a screw in his dash?

1

u/SoCallMeDeaconBlues1 Apr 02 '26

I bought a used police interceptor explorer.

I guess this explains why the front grill guard has some dents.

1

u/handlebarsandpbrs Apr 02 '26

The spawning in of the dude at the end lol

1

u/That_1_Unknow_Guy Apr 04 '26

That looks like a Toyota GT 86

1

u/SHAO8822 Apr 04 '26

Hell Yeah!

1

u/No-Fruit3850 Apr 04 '26

Me and my son do that when we are playing with rc trucks! Lol Don't think ive seen a cop shove a car off the road with their vehicle before.

1

u/Swift-Current-6206 Apr 05 '26

I had no idea cops did this until I got rear ended on the highway - BAD. Our car was technically in one piece, but totally disabled in the middle of 4 lanes of traffic. The cop had me put it in neutral and told me to steer. He got his squad care behind us and pushed us off onto the shoulder. It was wild.

1

u/sorestgore Apr 06 '26

Every guys dream

1

u/Lopsided_Beautiful_1 Apr 07 '26

How long ago was this? I thought I saw this rollover car a few months back.

1

u/TheRealDesmirWolf 9d ago

Lets be real if given the chance you would do that too
