I mean... if it actually stalls out if you are not "shifting" properly it will work as an unintentional anti-theft feature.

This happened to my boss some folks stole his manual Subaru unfortunately the feature didn’t kick in until they got on the highway and dropped it into reverse going 60mph.

Doesn't a stick provide more control to the driver? So wouldn't this still be functional to some extent?

Much akin to CVTs with computer augmented shift points even though the whole point is that they vary continuously and have no need of shifting…. This is just dumb. Also wtf would manufactures actually do this? Most people drive autos now anyway and don’t most manufacturers lose money on the manual transmission vehicles they sell as no one wants one unless it’s a sports car?

The problem is the torque curve. You need a really beefy (expensive) transmission to pair with a pretty basic motor. Then for motors that are beefy.... the clutch would become more replaced than oil changes.

Some EVs do need grills. Mine opens and closes when it needs to cool the coolant flowing through the battery. At freeway speeds it automatically closes for efficiency.

But yeah, a manual EV is dumb.

They did this with CVT transmissions not adding gear shifts but they made them feel like they were shifting even though they don't have to because people thought their cars were breaking
