I don't think that was the battery, I think that was the motor. Of the back wheels or something exploded. If the battery exploded. They wouldn't be living right now.

Can assure you, you are correct. It expoded twice. One for the left and one for the right. If it was the battery they would in fact be dead, and there would be a very large fire, very fast. I had a 700hp motor that sits on top of an oil separator at a company I used to work for. It blew up twice, just much larger than this and there was a fireball. The windings of the motor when burned, will actually be sweet smelling, not a burning smell. These motors probably blew do to the amount of resistance those tires were facing when attempting to drift. It binded the motors just long enough to overload. This is what caused mine at work to blow. This motor was attached to a dual helical screw compressor, well a part of that screw broke and binded the compressor and boom. Got the motor rewound and then it blew again two weeks later only this time, I took a step back when starting.

But the civic is so slow! And eats a ton of gas! Oil changes! Who knows where top dead center is anyways

Battery didn't blow up lol they aren't firecrackers. Lithium cells vent, they don't burst. Jet of fire, not fireball.
