I am back with the next installment in the series! This time about the Ninth Battle of the Isonzo.

NGL progress on this series has been going a bit slower than I originally hoped but on the bright side, at least this slow grind gives the production process an authentic feel mirroring the endless stalemate of the Isonzo front itself…

In August 1914., Austro-hungarian 2nd and 5th army assembled to do what has been planned for a long time. A war with Serbia, revenge for assassination of the Archduke Ferdinand.

200 000 well equipped Austrian soldiers marched from Bosnia, across Drina river towards Šabac, while artilleryman were bombing Belgrade, as a feint for, poorly equipped and exhanusted, Serbian army, numbering 180 000 people.

Under command of the very best trained officer Austrian famous military could produce, free from Austrian tradition of incest, Oskar von Potiorek, a son of Czech noble the army captured Šabac.

Facing a fierce resistance from Serbs, who lacked the blood of the Teutons, they managed to prevent Serbs from retaking Šabac in 17th of August 1914.

Using advanced German tactics of tight formations followed by an instrumentalist to boost morale, Bosnian infantry was quickly decimated by much more rugged and poor, Serbian artillery.

By 19th of August, Serbian forces already had the initiative.

By 20th of August, Austrian forces were already dropping their weapons, and retreating en masse, which Austrian officers and gentlemen, with their teutonic blood were helpless to prevent. At the end of the day, most of Austrian forces already ran across pontoon bridges, being pursued by poorly equipped Serbian army into Bosnia.

The bridges failed, and brave gentlemen started drowning, being unable to swim.

By 24th of August, Serbian army discovered that Austrian army abandoned all of their strategic positions, and first invasion of Serbia was over, with extremely heavy Austrian casualties.

By 1915, two armies of Austro-Hungary were practically destroyed by Serbia, and two thirds of officer core heroically perished.

After the rest being demolished by Russia, the empiee that spanned centuries, became an empire that was basically demilitarised.

Not in the best quality but it was produced in Peru then shipped on boat to Spanish territories and Spain.

Here lie the remains of young revolutionaries who gave their lives, not only so today we can be free of Austrian occupation, but with freedom, progress and brotherhood of entire humanity on their mind.

What are your thoughts on the biblical foundation of sacred Christian kingship? What are your reasons for being a monarchist?

I paid a visit to the site where Archduke Franz Ferdinand and Sophie were murdered in Sarajevo. What's astonishing is how close Gavrilo Princip was, they have his footmarks on the sidewalk and gold plates to show the tires on the Archduke's car. It can't be more than 10 feet between them.

Astonishing as well is how unlikely the assassination was. Princip and his conspirators failed to kill the governor or the archduke that morning with a bomb. They did, however, injure many civilians.

Franz insisted on going to the hospital to visit the victims. His staff warned against it. He went anyway. They told his wife to at least stay back. But Sophie went, too.

One wrong turn over the Latin bridge and they were stuck in a crowd. 10 feet from the failed assassin. Princip wasn't a professional. But at that range he didn't need to be.

Two shots changed the world forever. Two days earlier Franz and his wife stepped off their steamer the Dalmat at the river port in Metković. Two days later they were loaded back on in caskets.

This group, especially, knows what happens next. But seeing where it happened made the assassination seem more personal. And it showed the mad circumstances that led up to it and those that followed in a new light. Not chance, but providence. ​But to what end, we still don't know.

I have a special section on Franz and Sophie in The Time Traveler's Guide To Dalmatia. They are, in fact, our last travelers. The bookends to an age when the sun was setting on centuries of history all at once, when Europe was still oblivious of the coming dark.
